When I first watched it with my parents I genuinely thought Jack was an okay guy up until the moment when he berates Wendy, even with the information on how he injured Danny. His fake-nice behavior during the interview and even his stern tone in the car with the family on the drive up didn't seem weird to me at all, after all he just accepted a very serious job so of course he's focusing on that. As for injuring Danny I figured hey, we're all human. Lucky for me I've never been in any relationship so my apparent inability to spot abusive types hasn't personally harmed me. Can't suffer domesticc abuse if no one else is around!

Why does a hotel have a giant bomb in the basement that requires constant maintenance or the entire hotel will be engulfed in a fire that would kill everyone inside?
Wouldn't that warrant a 1 star review on Google? Wouldn't the workers just go on strike for the unsafe working conditions?
Presumably there would ordinarily be a full maintenance staff during peak season. IIRC, in the book Jack would’ve simply had to monitor the pressure levels but he went crazy and neglected it.
Would have smoking a blunt calmed his ass down?
In Kubrick's version he was deranged from before he set foot on that place
His dad was kinda fricked up if you've read the short story prequel.
Do you have a link? I read that years ago but I've never been able to find it again.

im completely unable to judge peoples' character in movies
no shit, that was the point. he was abusive and finally in a place where he didn't have to worry about any rules but his own anymore
Yes. He would have jerked off to Bbw porn daily.
I might dive into some chubby porn today, now that you mention it
>normies lose their minds after spending 5 minutes alone with their thoughts
I’ve been to lodges like that. The WiFi is usually extremely shit or non existent.
maybe. might also lead to ghosts coming in from the computer
you just reminded me of poltergeist and I don't like to remember poltergeist

What if there was no storm and Jack didn’t go crazy?
Then it would've been the coziest movie of all times, this is the tragedy
Unironically I don’t think the hotel would know what to do with some of the insanely degenerate coomers that dwell here.

it would just give up after an anon actually tries to frick the hag
If he wasn't insane would he still have done insane things?
The WiFi probably would have been out
Give me wi-fi, vidya and gym equipment and this would be a dream job for me. I’d come out of the winter fricking shredded.
>has wifi
>but it's the 70s
>nothing that can connect to it
>profit???
Blizzard would have knocked out the internet.
if he didbt renew his wow subscription?
Well I mean there was that whole murderously evil energy pervading the hotel thing going on. Not sure how much wifi could've improved that.
See
. I wonder how the hotel would handle just one anon alone there for the winter.
Wouldn’t stand a chance against your average Cinemaphile poster.
He was summoned to be possessed by the hotel's history
He could’ve googled “dead lady in bathtub” and ordered some Canadian Viagra.
>wifi connected to a non existent internet
The military has had internet since 1957.
in mountain hotels?
>but i already have a wi-fi
>a wife i hate!
Nice
sup dad
>Decide to finally watch The Shining sequel

Do places like this actually exist in current year where they are closed for a chunk of the year and overseen by a caretaker?
yes, I worked at one
