    >Would you forgive, or not care about the bad things Harley has done? I would in an instant

depends on the series and the day. I don't think there are many confirmed kills for most of the villains in BTAS because they didn't want to show death for that time slot. Hell, batman kicks the guns out of most people's hands before they even get a chance to shoot them. Death from bombs and even mr freezes gun are kind of in a gray area, never showing the dead bodies.

I think you even see see freeze, freeze batmans legs or arms, which have made him a cripple for life, but he's just fine later.

That Harley is probably fine. She even gets cleared that one time but fricks it up because of events out of her control.

By the superman crossover, New Adventures, JL, etc, she has probably killed people or been complicit in Joker killing people. Joker's brainwashing and grooming is complete by the time we see the setup for Batman Beyond where she helps Joker kidnap and torture Tim. That version of Harley should probably go to Prison or maybe even get the death penalty. Technically her and joker running off with Luther's bomber and dropping bombs on Metropolis was terrorism. They had attempted terrorism several times before, but the bomber situation was full on terrorism. They got the thing in the air. They crashed and destroyed the thing.

In some other comics and other media, she full on kills people and helps joker kill people. Those versions can't really be forgiven.

As an aside, its kind of funny to think that its kind of implied that either Harley and Joker have never had sex or Joker is shooting blanks in the Bruce and Paul animated batman.

Its shown in Mad Love and later when batgirl and Harley talk in beyond that Harley's big dream is to retire from crime and have a bunch of kids with Joker. And that Tim will be that kid.

So either they are having sex and Joker is sterile, or joker just doesn't have sex with her.

I like the second idea myself. Its kind of funny and makes her story that much more tragic. lol, can you imagine torturing a kid because you're that fricking horny for someone? And they keep stringing you along with promises of future love making? And Joker keeps telling her he cant, that he's just too upset about Bats, but he promises after Bats is gone he'll fly straight and give her all the kids she wants?

And jokers goons are just in a corner snickering about how stupid and naive she is to believe that?

        >And jokers goons are just in a corner snickering about how stupid and naive she is to believe that?

I can even picture it. She goes to buy food for her Hyenas and the team and one of the new goons comes over.

"eh, Boss, why don't you ever squeeze that hot tomato?"
        "I don't follow"
"The dame in red and black. She's quite the number. She's got the hots for you."
"Billy? John? It is John isn't it? I can never tell you guys apart. What Harley and I have is a strictly platonic working relationship. She's more like a sister, maybe a pet, like my dear gram gram's pet poodle. I could no sooner sleep with her as you and Robert over there? Well maybe, assuming Robert isn't, well you know. I mean its ok if you two do, we're an equal opportunity employer here. Just not on a the clock!"

50/50 chance of joker shooting or putting his foot in the goones ass at the end of the conversation.

It's insane that she's accepted as part of the extended Batman family. It's not just her, though. Jason Todd is just as bad.
All that shit that Batman gave Huntress for him to casually work with and accept two people who are infinitely worse.

comics are stupid. More than half the shit in the main lines should be else worlds. Very little moral consistency

      > Batman casually work with and accept Jason
False. Jason is tolerated and is constantly shit on by the narrative in a way Huntress or Harley aren't.
      > Batman casually work with and accept Harley
True. She's BFF with Batgirl too.

Is it? Batman's whole shtick, and so the shtick he passes on to the others, is that he's so firmly for restrained punishment that they go out of their way not to kill/will save even the most absolute irredeemable, despicable, blood-hungry people. Harley is a real mixed bag and has the excuse of largely operating on behalf of someone else (which isn't even to say "it wasn't her" just that it's not like absolute destruction for the sake of absolute destruction and murder for the sake of murder were core to her identity).

I found her and bats' moment at the end of War to be a pretty touching one.

Harley, in a lot of ways, is sort of the gold medal for batman. Proof that his whole philosophy isn't for nothing, that all of the effort and loss to try and put criminals away instead of in the dirt CAN work, and even someone who was very far gone, who has killed and maimed and done all sorts of horrible shit, someone who is Joker adjacent, can be rehabilitated to the point of earnestly trying to set things right and repent for what was done if given the chance and surrounded by the right people and helped instead of just cut down. I'm not gonna argue Harley is in the weighing of life morality, morally superior to Todd or Huntress, but in some ways her path is the more moral one. She's trying to do better, trying to keep her nose clean, trying to resolve things without killing or resorting too heavily to violence. I gotta imagine that really counts for his own peace of mind.

Harley is essentially the big fat bear from the bear rabbit, if the bear was motivated by wanting to frick the fox/wolf. For most of her original appearance, she isn't evil. Just naive and in love. Maybe groomed for those two reasons.

Characters like hers are good in that they show that being naive or stupid often has the same results as being evil. She may not be evil, but she is complicit in evil

That was a big thing I hated about the new Harley Quinn show. They changed her motivation thinking it would make her stronger but it ultimately made her less sympathetic. They also made Joker more aggressive and less funny to make his abuse more obvious but that also weekend his character. Many versions of the Joker are pretty charming. He's a warning to kids about following someone just because they are fun and charming. Not to sound like old lobster peterson, but the Joker is essentially the embodiment of the pleasure island from pinocchio, turning everyone around him into fools and jackasses for his own amusement.

It's... an understatement considering she takes an active part in Joker's gang and reveal in that position, until she doesn't. Harley is a good example of "bad person, but not evil".

I hate how Ivy got dragged down by being gay for Harley.
The ENTIRE FRICKING POINT is that she's an abuser just as much as the Joker is, just a different flavor. Harley doesn't end her abuse when she leaves the Joker, she just goes for the plant fricker that doesn't care about human life at all rather than the psychotic clown.

that is however pretty realistic for women like Harley.

I have a friend like her. Naive, sweet and smart. She's dating nothing but toxic people for like 15 years.

Guy in high school was a drug dealer. Guy after that liked to lock her in the bathroom during fights. Guy after that would scream at her when she got home from therapy. And he cheated. Guy after that is a child abuser, stone waller and a broney.

Its just one thing after another. At this rate I think she might have a normal partner by the time she enters a nursing home.

Sweetest smartest person too. Would give you the shirt off her back.

Unless your friend took part in the illegal activities of her boyfriends and enjoyed it when they weren't directly abusing her, she's not like Harley.

Changing doesn't erase your past actions. It's not exactly rocket science.
              >someone changing or trying to better themselves
A dishonest narrative since Harley only changed on a surface-level. A mental mess like her would need to seek psychatric help and stay away from that kind of life.
Cutting ties with her abusive past and not target innocents anymore is all Harley did. She did the miminum. Her behavior hasn't changed one bit otherwise.

Yeah, Harley Quinn show ends with Harley being considered part of the Bat Family and on the very next Valentines special she's killed thousands of people and caused thousands of rapes because she was insecure that Ivy didn't say that she had the best Valentines day ever.

        >Harley Quinn show

god, that show. They really can't make their mind up about how invested they want the viewers to be.

Like on one hand they want you to be really invested and watch every episode and root for Harley and Ivy, and spend money on DC stuff.

On the other hand they just do whatever. Frick the viewer for having expectations based on previous story elements. Just do whatever. Just having a good old time in the DC writing room. Frick plot progression or character development. Ha, ha, lolzers on you, dear viewer.

I really wouldn't be surprised if ivy turns harley's vegana into a audry 2 like plant monster that eats kite man, negating the first two seasons, just for the lawls

If it were, depending on the version, I'd have her try to redeem herself then she goes back to college and studies psychology .

Side note but Rouch is honestly not a bad harley. She's no Arleen or Hynden but oh well.

      >some kind of fricking goal or vision for Gotham.

Uh, probably to get serious again and go back to medicine and helping people.

Not sure if that will ever happen though. Harley is probably low needs autistic and has trouble not being taken advantage of in the normal world. Thats part of the appeal of the Joker for her. He offered a life where she didn't need to understand people nor could her naivety let people get over on her.

Hell, Harley could damn well have face blindness too. It could explain why she thinks joker is hot and can't see when he is clearly lying.

I feel the bigger problem with current Harley is she's way too divorced from the old one.
There's almost no way to see the transition from "Joker's bimbo sidekick who really thinks she can fix him" to Deadpool with breasts without it feeling forced. DC just sorta jumped straight into the second one rather than building up her character from what's previously established.
