            >George Lucas knows more about the characters he created than you do
Funnily enough you posted a pretty good example with your pic. I've seen the "point" a depressing amount of times how Sam Jackson was supposedly a miscast for Mace because he supposedly doesn't give off the energy and vibe of a zen jedi master, when the whole point of the character is that he isn't a traditional all smiles jedi like Kenobi. Obviously Sam himself contributed even more to the character through his own ideas (like the purple lightsaber) but I'd say the reason all of it works is because George casted someone perfect for the role to begin with who gives off the exact energy and personality that Mace is supposed to project, and adapted to those requests with intuition

              >ComingSoon.net: How much overlap will there be between Genndy's "Clone Wars" animated series and the new feature film and television series?
              >George Lucas: Well, the Genndy show was an experiment that we did with Cartoon Network that was 5 minutes each, they went sort of where commercials normally go, and it was an experiment, not only in doing five-minute shows, but it was an experiment in trying to translate "Star Wars" into an animated medium, and we felt very good about that. We thought it turned out really well, and we then took it to the next level, which was to do a full-out animated series of "The Clone Wars." There's not much overlap. Genndy did most of the animation and most of the stories for the first experimental series, and this one I'm pretty much following the mythology and the rules of the features, so it's a little bit different, but it's very much like the features except it's in animation.

              >“I am the father of our Star Wars movie world - the filmed entertainment, the features and now the animated film and television series,” he says. “And I’m going to do a live-action television series. Those are all things I am very involved in: I set them up and I train the people and I go through them all. I’m the father; that’s my work. Then we have the licensing group, which does the games, toys and books, and all that other stuff. I call that the son - and the son does pretty much what he wants.” He laughs. “Once in a while, they ask a question like ‘Can we kill off Yoda?’, things like that, but it’s very loose. Then we have the third group, the holy ghost, which is the bloggers and fans. They have created their own world. I worry about the father’s world. The son and holy ghost can go their own way.” — George Lucas, Flannelled One, July 2008

Not that guy, but imo Anakin just designated jedis as “enemies of the republic” and an obstacle to his wife’s health.
            So they needed to go.
Anakin is incredibly fricking loyal and murderous against his enemies. This has been proven again and again.
And Windu literally broke the code in front of him. The text that anakin tried his hardest to uphold. The entire edifice of jedi orthodoxy fricking died right there.
His choice became very easy. He was a soldier of the republic, and his wife was in mortal peril and needed to be saved.
So he did what he always does, kill everyone with his clones

You conveniently omit that the absolute majority of the council voted in favor of his training in TPM.
You conveniently omit that many Jedi have become arrogant, and it's not something exclusive to Anakin, which Yoda said.
You conveniently omit that Windu told Obi-Wan to have faith in his apprentice.
You conveniently omit that the only reason Mace gave Anakin shit in RotS, was because he was pals with Palps, and he literally put him on the Council unilaterally.

He was treated like everyone else. He was accepted into the Jedi family by the majority, and trained well. People who think he was treated like shit are legitimately braindead, entitled morons, who missed the point entirely.

            >the absolute majority of the council voted in favor of his training
No they fricking didn't, the Council rejects him for training, it's only after Qui Gon dies that Yoda allows it
            >You conveniently omit that many Jedi have become arrogant
            And?
            >You conveniently omit that Windu told Obi-Wan to have faith in his apprentice.
While also saying that he himself doesn't have complete faith, yes
            >You conveniently omit that the only reason Mace gave Anakin shit in RotS
You make it sound like it's a position Mace only took beginning in ROTS

He was space Jesus, fathered by the Force. Treating him any less than a KING was an insult.

No. And there was no reason to. He had plenty of privilege already, and was looked on with favor. He would have eventually been master and on the council. He's just a fricking brat.

Butterfly effect might have had an effect. Instead of chilling with sheev at an opera bed probably be combing through the Jedi archives (the ones you only get access to as master) looking for a way to prevent padmes death.

Nah. Without any foreknowledge of how he'd turn out, I still wouldn't want him on the Council because he's a young, entitled, impulsive moron. I'd use Kenobi to manipulate him into believing that sitting on the Council is incredibly boring and beneath him, that he's an active Jedi who'd much rather be out there doing good than sitting in a room, endlessly debating.

Probably not. Council members have access to the restricted parts of the Jedi archives, which contained secret knowledge of the Force, which was what he wanted access to in order to gain the knowledge of how to stop Padme's death from coming true.

qui-gon should have cut his head off as soon as he saw how powerful he could become.
he was too old to start training yet he ignored that shit and because of that billions died.

      >cut the head off from the literal messiah that has been foretold in ancient texts the moment you see him
I’m sure that’s something that Windu, that eternally butthurt Black person, would do. But quigon, unlike your mystery meat jedi council of spearchuckers is a pious white man of respect.
He trusts in the Lord and he was ultimately proven right.

While Anakin was right about many things, he literally had no fricking reason to be on the council. If anything he would've probably deserved the title of Jedi Master, but what the frick did he have to contribute to a "council" of thinkers and debaters?

Being stronger, faster and better doesn't make him wiser or smarter, in fact one of his core traits is impulsivity

For one I think Anakin should be put on the Council, granted the privileges of accessing the archives and our unending support should his loved ones are in danger. After all his visions came to pass and he was too late to save his mother. How can claim that we care for the Galaxy if we do not care for one of our ownn?

  28. 2 years ago

Sure, why not? He was an angsty, immature incel, but everyone else on the council was also dumb as frick, so why not?

      Anonymous

He was married to a 10/10. So not an incel.

Also, he spent half his life as a slave, and the other half of his life as a slave-soldier. That paradigm can typically produce “angst.”

Why not? The jedi council are just a bunch of fricks who sit around talking about shit and not doing anything. It's not like he'll be able to control the council.

I would've taken him out for a beer first to get a better read on him rather than just fricking roast him in front of the other council members.

This has always been one of the weakest plot points, at least for me.
What makes you a Jedi Master? The Council's approval?
If yes, Anakin should have known this and realized he was being moronic. He was like... what, 22 or something? assuming mastery means something other than just acceptance he should have known he was too young to be considered for it.
He was too young, reckless and influenciable. That, combined with him being as strong as he was, is a recipe for disaster if you dont have someone to guide him properly, something the Jedi didnt want to do.
Then comes the other option: is mastery about power? Because he was pretty much gtfoing everyone there that wasnt Yoda or Mace Windu, and he had trained a padawan before.
If that's the measure, the Jedi were literally moronic.
However, the biggest moron of them all with all this stuff was Obi Wan, even if he is my fave Jedi. (Ewan McGregor and his gay show can rot tho).
Obi Wan KNEW that the Jedi constricting strong feelings tend to lead to disaster (see: Count Dooku) and instead of opposing the dogma and acknowledge that they were forcing Anakin into Palpatine's arms he was just
    > well I guess I have to let go
Fricking shit tier plot point. This is why prequels struggle so hard: you cant break canon.
tldr I would have denied him the entry to the Council due to him getting brainwashed by Palpatine because polbrained people are morons.
