This and Batman: Caped Crusaders are probably gonna make or break Marvel/DC animation on Cinemaphile
looks so bad that I cannot even explain it with words
That article doesn't say May 2024
It says early 2024
Wake me up when they do a Wolverine and the X-Men revival show.
Dont care, not watching even if it gets spammed on this board like MAWS once it comes out
I don't really have any expectations I'd just like to see some actual footage. Anyone else notice they made Jubilee looks more asian? I'm not sure what storylines I'd like seeing adapted. I'd rather just get a new show with the new mutants cast.
>Expectations
Zero cheesecake
A lot of gay shit
Woke like NU Marvel Comics
MCU vibes
Did they ever say why they decided on continuing this rather than letting their own studio make a new mark on these characters?
Marvel animations are canon-adjacent to the MCU now, and they still haven't figured out how they will bring the X-Men into the MCU.
Plus it comes with a built-in audience.
The show's original showrunners created a pitch and Disney greenlit it.
>Gambit on point
>Storm seems fine
>Magneto buff as frick
>beast
>Bishop too black, not enough hair
>Rouge got de-sexy'd
>Morph is awesome
>Jean is meh
>Cyclopes looking badass
>Wolverine gonna snick
>Jubilee now asian?
>some dude
I'll give it a try. This is basicly the image I get in my head when I think "X-Men". Sorta soft Bendis.
>some dude
It's Sunspot.
>Jubilee now asian
She was always asian she just didn't really look it
She looks it in the original, they just didn't go full slant eyes. Her new design is the only one I really don't like. Everyone else looks fine, I just worry about how their designs will animate. They've shared zero footage publicly and I don't think any of the Disney Marvel shows have really looked good.
Bishop has been quietly retconned as black despite being supposedly aborigine. But even in the original 90's series he was kind of coded to be black.
Roberto calls Erik "Headmaster" and Mags totes around in his PURPLE M costume.
I FRICKING HATE LOATHE AND DESPISE STORM WITH A MOHAWK
Frick that shit
i mixed up bishop for pic related and was about to complain about him being black, i guess thats what i get for not reading comics
which leads me to ask, if one wanted to get started on x-men comics, where should he?
Roy Thomas' original run or if not that, the Arnold Drake run starting from around when Havok and Polaris are introduced. People act like the pre-revival is terrible but it's not. It's shit under Lee/Kirby, but gets better as it goes and the Thomas/Adams run at the end is great. Giant-Size and the first few issues of the revival (where Claremont was basically scripting Wein's stories) are pretty lame and IMO it takes until the mid-120s to get back up to the quality of the Thomas/Adams run but once it does it's great until Fall of the Mutants. Claremont starts falling off as he series becomes more unfocused and characters are (literally) all over the place doing whatever. The real problem is once X-Factor and New Mutants start and you begin feeling obligated to read all the spinoff series (except Excalibur, you never really need to read it and it's horrifically overrated IMO). X-Men is largely good even in the first half of the '90s for as much as people b***h about it barring some dumb shit (X-Factor, aside from PAD, is mostly bad and X-Force is bad initially but improves tremendously once Liefeld leaves after the first year).
It's not until you get the the secod half of the '90s when Lobdell leaves that things start really going downhill. Kelly and Seagle tried but got fricked with and eventually ran off by editorial. The Alan Davis/post-Onslaught stuff and Claremont's return are fricking horrific as far as the main two books go and from there it sort of flip flops all the time. Spinoffs are usually decent everything is just a lot more inconsistent throughout the late '90s and most of the 2000s (as much as I like the Morrison era "mutants as an emerging culture" status quo). It's really just been one giant downward trend since House of M and Krakoa is some of the worst X-Men stuff ever put out. Some of it makes the "the X-Men fight an evil Cerebro who makes his own evil fake X-Men" shit from the post-Onslaught era look good.
I wanna see some O.N.E. Sentinels
nice to see morph. would rather see a new mutants or lee/kirby era xmen show tho
>modern shit writers
>Alyson Court replaced because Jubilee has to be voiced by an Asian
>other characters, like Jean Grey, recast for no reason even though their VAs are still being used in the series
>shit attempt at implementing Le Stronk feminist Mohawk into Storm's Lee design; looks like she time travelled in from 2017
>Sunspot is on the team for no reason other than diversity and visually doesn't match up with anyone else, like Storm he looks like a modern day design dropped into the '90s
>no Ron Wasserman music, music is being done by some homosexuals who score all of those low budget horror movies abou Ouija boards and shit
>Disney+
>modern Disey in general
This is going to be awful
It says here that it's coming on January 3rd of next year so maybe we'll see a trailer of it in December or Late November.
