I rewatched some of the X-Men movies recently and I was shocked at how good X2 is. I knew people liked it a lot when I was a kid, but I always felt it was overrated.
Except it's not. Brian Cox is pure fricking kino in this film, and it's probably the peak of Jackman's Wolverine, McKellen's Magneto, and Stewart's Xavier. The only real problem I have with it is that a lot of the other actual X-Men get badly sidelined, especially Cyclops. Still, none of that stops it from being really just a great film
In contrast, when I researched Days of Future Past I felt it was a lot more uninteresting than I remembered. That one's definitely overrated
I disagree. While X2 is great, DOFP is just one of the best cape movies ever made and the best finale for the X-Men story. Logan is great but it tarnishes that ending so I chooses to enjoy it as an elseworld and chooses to ignore Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix altogether because of how badly they shit the bed.
>DOFP is just one of the best cape movies ever made and the best finale for the X-Men story.
To me the real trilogy is X-Men --> X2 --> DOFP. Despite how good McAvoy and Fassbender were, their films are kind of forgettable in comparison to the first two Singer movies especially.
The first X-Men is kind of lame, I think First Class is a much better movie, though I still like both.
The truly terrible ones are X3, the Wolverine ones except Logan, even if the one in Japan is nonsense fun until the final act, and the last two. 3 if you count New Mutants.
>X2 was the best superhero film of the 2000s >Yes, that includes The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2. >This is what X-gays actually believe.
Wait for them all to suddenly change their minds if Singer ever actually gets busted.
Spider-Man 2 is the best superhero movie of all time.
Incorrect.
I actually like Superman 2 more. And weird as it is to say, I don't dislike 3.
>Plausible Wolverine origin story
>Shows how young mutants get radicalized
>Mystique exploits horny Logan
Yeah, kinda hard to dispute that one.
Even just the opening scene alone is better than 99% of all superhero movies.
Bryan Singer maybe be a child molester but I'll be damned if that wasn't a cool scene

The late 90s/early 2000s were the best time for comic book movies.

While i prefer sm2, i do think X2 is good
god original trilogy mystique really did something to my sexual development
X-MEN has some of the best world building in comics.
Ahem
Being the best MCU movie, doesn't mean that it's actually the best superhero movie.
