Okay. I watched this episode. Yeah, didn't laugh once. Bad timing, bad voice acting, and it just feels so recycled. Not a single surprise in the writing. A lot of the jokes just seem to repeat on variations.

I don't know what else to say. We've had decades of weird non-sequitur cartoons, and some that were really funny. This show is like... okay? It seems closer to a kid's show, honestly.
You seriously can't appreciate the humor? It's perfectly relatable to people in their 30s.
What is relatable? The humor? The characters? Unlike other people (apparently), I don't see any real perspective behind the writing here. They're just going for laughs. Which is fine. The problem is, the jokes aren't funny.

In the second season the smiling friends don't make people smile, which is the entire point of smiling friends. I don't give a frick about some characters or them going to see aliens, I want them to make people smile. Imagine the absolute kino of an episode we would've gotten if they actually had to make Jared fogle smile. That's what I want to see.

I love Zach and think Michael is very talented (Bushworld is the one good Rick & Morty thing) and have loved OneyPlays for years. Grew up watching Hellbenders, Eugene etc. (all very popular here in Dublin at that time). I think Smiling Friends is admirable for its mash up of all different kinds of art but the show is simply not that funny. The best bits are less funny versions of things they’ve joked about on OneyPlays. The best thing about smiling friends is Chris’ song for the end theme.
