I love that movie and it was a reboot of an older property. I also remember the 90's animated show where they gave him a hoverboard. I liked that too.
I used to think it would be a good idea to have another interation for the current era, you could really go all-out with the alien designs with modern effects
the effects are bad even coinpared two star was, but I can forgive it since the movies is close to half acentury old
but, the acting on the other hand is sooo bad. flash is a stupid chad, the girl looks unshaven and if she were she is aint even hot anyway, and all the side characters actors are awful woody cheesy sterotyphes
the story makes little sense. and the soundtrack, while good, lacks variety
It's supposed to be cheesy camp you mong. It was never meant to be highbrow sci-fi.
I bet you are great fun to be around.
Go listen to the directors audio comm to get perspective and pull your head out of your ass beforehand.
>the soundtrack, while good, lacks variety >the soundtrack is performed by the one band
just how many condoms covered in your own shit do you tread on leaving your house each day?
It was always meant to be a low budget campy sci Fi movie. They even got a guy who had zero acting experience simply because he looked like the character. Pure kino
Sci-fi serial gold. It looks high budget considering it reuses Universal Horror sets. Nicolas Roeg's Flash Gordon would have been interesting if it did happen.
>what do you mean?
btw, isn't it kind of insulting of Ming to not invite that lady, whom it was implied was the mother of his daughter, to the wedding?
Flash Gordon is like 60s Batman and Star Trek to me where it's camp and dated but still holds because of good production values. There's a charm to them I can't really describe. Like old Melies silent films and Lang's Metropolis.
Fun Fact: George Lucas originally wanted to make Flash Gordon movie because he was huge fan of the comics. But he couldn't get the rights. So he made Star Wars instead, incorporating a lot of stuff from Flash Gordon.
Even funnier fact: the actual Flash Gordon movie only got made because of the huge success of Star Wars, and the crew was heavily inspired by George Lucas' work.
they still make bad movies
This bad movie had a kickass theme song though
If you want really want to see how soulless popular media has become just do watch this movie and an episode of the new Obi Wan show back to back.
kek Flash Gordon is just as soulless
how
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOW?
>that guitar riff when he and the birdmen attack the airship
pure fricking kino
Goddam right.
but why space football
He's a football player, not a fighter.

of course now I don't want that.
FLASH! AHHHHHHAAAAAHAHHHAAAAAH
that scream was Freddie taking it in the ass
SAVIOUR OF THE UNIVERSE
There was a comic about 5 years back that had a bit of fun with the Queen lyrics.
Fricking awesome.

its fun
What do you expect from a movie that's a love letter to the serials it's based on?
Your sister c**t
it wasn't meant to have good acting, it's hammy like the OG serials. are zoomers this fricking braindead?
It's supposed to be cheesy camp you mong. It was never meant to be highbrow sci-fi.

>It's supposed to be cheesy camp
I miss camp villainy. There's nothing like a ham who's also evil.

more movies like this?
highlander
fifth element
streets of fire
the warriors
Great suggestions.
4 hour epics. No two parters like today.
how is that version vs the 1980s?
Sci-fi serial gold. It looks high budget considering it reuses Universal Horror sets. Nicolas Roeg's Flash Gordon would have been interesting if it did happen.
movie was so bad it was great
I miss when they used to get bands to work on film scores. This with Queen and Lynch's Dune with Toto.
As a kid I used to think it was too cheesy.
But now I appreciate the hell out of it. Really nothing else like it.
Also this is one of the most kino battles put to film ever.
>what do you mean?
btw, isn't it kind of insulting of Ming to not invite that lady, whom it was implied was the mother of his daughter, to the wedding?
this is what Taika's Thor movies wish they were
Flash Gordon is one of the best movies ever made: fact.
Raygun aesthetic needs a comeback in sci-fi. Everything is industrial looking these days.
Flash Gordon is like 60s Batman and Star Trek to me where it's camp and dated but still holds because of good production values. There's a charm to them I can't really describe. Like old Melies silent films and Lang's Metropolis.
TOS also had great little psychological stories masquerading as sci fi
Flash Gordon mogs the lame sexless Star Wars universe
>GORDON'S ALIVE?!
Did Bongland ever produce anything as kino as Bryan Blessed?
Which is funny because a lot of the effects in this are deliberately made to look like the 1920s serials
Fun Fact: George Lucas originally wanted to make Flash Gordon movie because he was huge fan of the comics. But he couldn't get the rights. So he made Star Wars instead, incorporating a lot of stuff from Flash Gordon.
The comic they published based on Lucas' first draft laid that on pretty thick.
Even funnier fact: the actual Flash Gordon movie only got made because of the huge success of Star Wars, and the crew was heavily inspired by George Lucas' work.
HAIL MING
Goddam BOSS of a villain.
him admitting to boning his own daughter and gettin tired of it makes him seem like a true champ of villies
no they certainly do not
