I get so tired of the term woke, because it's so vague it has come to mean a lot of different things to different people. Calling something woke, or fascist, or communist is being intellectually lazy. Just say what it is that you disagree with and stop using ambiguous and vague buzzwords.

Whole I agree with you to a certain extent, I still acknowledge that buzzwords make language faster and more succinct. No one has time to eloquently express their thoughts in a fashion that resembles a term paper. "Woke" has to do with identity politics. That's pretty damn simple to understand.

That can be anything from just having black or gay people in a movie to getting into CRT. No it's not simple at all if you've read anything about what it means to different people.

        >No one has time to eloquently express their thoughts
You use time, as an excuse for your lack of an argument, when it's not time you're lacking, but intelligence. You lack the intelligence to actually shape an argument. Just as you deride identity politics as they're based in feelings, so too are your arguments. You have no argument because it's all emotion, no thought. Buzz words are for simpletons trying to engage in arguments that they don't fully understand.

In the context of television and film it exclusively refers to changing whites to non-white and straights to gays

That's not being woke, being woke is shaming white people over slavery.

Are you saying he needs to return to consciousness? To stop sleeping? Perhaps to get woke?

There's nothing really woke about it, outside of obvious casting decisions; even then, they mostly work. Wilson Wilson was great, Big Man was alright. Kid was cute as heck and the show was pretty enjoyable outside of the absolutely fricking cringe-inducing episode about the underground teenagers protecting animal kids.

I don't know why they needed to make them all teens. The comic version of this organization is extremely different, and honestly wouldn't have fit in with tone the show was going for, but making them kids who learned ninjutsu from playing VR was an awful idea.

I think it would have made more sense to make them some kind of offshoot of the Last Men, or even just some kind of cult devoted to worshipping the hybrids and embracing the new world. Make their whole gimmick that they're some kind of luddite group who think the sick is God's judgement for technology and modernity and that they're trying to go back to humanities roots.

In fact, it's been years since I read the comic and now that I'm writing it all out, I'm thinking that might have actually been their gimmick. I don't know if I made it up or if the writer did at this point.

The comic has some ABSOLUTELY shitty artstyle, so any changes to it, it's ok.
Making the MC a cute boy instead of a moping teen is a 150IQ move.

I watched the show before I read the comic, and I prefer the show quite a bit. All deer puns aside, Gus is an extremely endearing character in the show and seeing the world through his optimistic eyes makes for a less depressing experience, and for me it also raises the stakes because it's not just about wanting him to... not die, but you also don't want the apocalyptic hell world to suck the innocence and joy out of him. They did a really good job casting him, too. It almost feels like they wrote the show around Convery. He comes across very naturally.

Comic Gus is a fine character in his own way, but I prefer this take considerably.
