Every doc has some degree of bullshit.

The reason this one is hated is because its underlying premise and conclusions which actually had a real world impact are based on blatant lies and exaggeration.

You can literally eat "fast food" for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and still be healthy.

It makes people seethe because McDonald's had a tangible impact to their business as a result and modified their menu. For years they tried to pretend to be healthy in some way. Ultimately a lot of the hate is likely artificially promoted to a degree in the same spirit how McDonald's had a quiet PR campaign shitting on the hot coffee lawsuit.
In the end, their greatest success in overcoming the impact to their image was donating to body positivity causes to make obesity seem fine

It also lead to the steep decline of kids meal toys and the subsequent "We gotta remove all the soul and pretend we're a Starbucks that sells cheeseburgers" movement across all the big chains.

To be fair you can get non alcoholic fatty liver disease from a chronic poor diet. Though it takes years to develop.

Pumping things full of unnecessary sugar is far worse for you than Spack-Donald's and Bugger - King (which has such low amounts of sugar it is suitable for diabetics). In Ireland the bread in Subway had to be classed as cake for tax reasons because of the high amounts of sugar added to it, but hey, Subway is fresh sandwiches, right? So much better for you than evil junk food...

The points he makes about the targeting of children by the fast food industry is actually really good, a whole documentary focused on that would've been kino.
The doctor remarking about only seeing liver damage that bad from an alcoholic is god tier comedy though.
