Cool Runnings
“What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” is a comfy little film from the 90s starring a young Johnny Depp as the protag and young Leo playing a moron. Movie also has a couple nice turns from Mary Steenbergen and a very young John C. Reilly.
I just rewatched it recently and it occurred to me that Hollywood doesn’t make this kind of movie anymore: middlebrow, mature, well-acted, mid-budget movie for adults to go see.
The movie works as a self-contained story but also as a time capsule of rural American life just prior to NAFTA and the cultural revolution. Very comfy and I give it an 8/10.

Tell us what genres or type of movie you want. Atmospheric? Engaging? Intense? Thought provoking? Funny? Mindfrick? Every movie fulfills something differently, there’s really no one size fits all
I need films that appease my seemingly ceaseless need for bloodlust and hateful carnage.
Sounds like Rampage is up your ally
the uwe boll movie, not homosexual rock
I've been through a lot already. The sequel was the best as it's basically just one hostage scenario and is also pretty funny.
The one with Titus Pullo was good too, though more for its surprisingly effective emotional core.
Need more like Angst
haven't found anything as good as Angst, try Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, Golden Glove or Schramm
>Schramm

Blade Runner 2049
I miss the imdb forum so much bros. Whenever I'd see a movie I enjoyed afterwards I'd go to the movie's imdb forum page and discuss it there. I had a good shitpost history, too. The mods ended up deleting my entire history like three times lmao. Oh well now it's gone forever. If you try to honestly discuss some random movie on Cinemaphile after watching it you'll either be ignored or get like two replies. Feels like people resent you here if you try to make an honest to goodness topic about something which isn't trending. Get a vibe like "how dare you attempt to give your opinion about something!" Cinemaphile is basically for memes and shitposts (like most of Cinemaphile) and whatever trends regularly here like Sopranos. Even Cinemaphile is better at discussing video games than Cinemaphile is at movies. This place is gay.
>Cinemaphile is better at
It's one or two OPs shitposting as fast as they can. If you make a thread that isn't the usual bait it'll get bumped in 15 minutes. They're newbies that just got here some time this year either January or a few months ago during the second wave of unbannables.
Also, frick you. Cinemaphile is unbearable. The only thing better is their unbannable shitposters post Cinemaphile related coomer threads and the jans leave them up. We can't even post actresses here.
Cinemaphile is fricking terrible but If I made an honest thread on Cinemaphile about some random game I'm faaaaar more likely to get a legitimate discussion going there than I am on Cinemaphile about some random movie. Just my experience.

It's because the tastes are more specific. Cinemaphile is something most people gloss over when they watch so catching a real discussion is more rare. The minutia of the discussion isn't even something a lot of people can do and it's usually limited to the story as-presented. Lore and further story discussion can only be had on franchises or stuff based on books. For Cinemaphile the experience is a little more dynamic and wide. You'll have people discussing story, but also nostalgia for older games, bugs, deeper lore, coomer stuff, music, and people sticking around for gameplay discussion and webms, likely a lot of those are waiting for an excuse to go DL the game. Plus, the age group for Cinemaphile is probably younger and more enthusiastic posters.
The occasional time I run into people worthwhile on Cinemaphile makes it worth it to stick around. Some funny people are still around but the shitters really killed the board. It wasn't even this bad a year ago.
Infernal affairs (watch 2 if you like it, its probably better but 3 is such a step down)
