Of course in practice you adjust all of it at once until the white parts are white and it will look correct right away.
>how does this work? how you get colors that aren't there?
It took me a couple seconds in paint.net to apply an auto-level filter on this and bring back the colour. It works by some kind of math to change the colour levels.
If it's that easy for me to use (free) image editing software, then it should be relatively easy to open a movie into a video editing application and change the colour. Depending on what software you are using. It's just less work to watch a foreign film or something from before 2012 instead of new American content.
They're all there, just nudged more to the yellow, the filter just nudges them back to what it thinks they originally were but it's not 100% accurate and some colors get lost in the process due to ambiguity and compression etc.
What has gone so horrifically wrong with the entire practice of color correction? I know a lot of you morons like amazon's The Boys, which is visually dull, washed out and gray.

behind the filter kino can be found
Why do they do this?
Honestly it's probably not a problem in theatres. In theatre the only source of light is the screen, and our eyes are unbelievably good at adapting to the ambient colour temperature. You can light up a room in red, and soon it won't look so red, in fact if you look through your phone's camera you won't believe how red the phone shows the room compared to what you directly see.
So it would make sense to have extremely colour temperature changes in theatres just like we have extreme colour temperature changes in everyday life (like dimly lit room at 2000-2500K at night vs broad daylight, the sun would look very blue compared to the white of a dimly lit room), because you'd adapt to it smoothly. But when you look at it on a computer screen in a well-lit room and not even in full screen (so you can compare the white balance of other things on screen) then it looks moronic, like way too blue or yellow or brown.
So maybe mobies need different colour grading between theatre and home releases?
Because they have done something to our sun. It no longer has that bright yellow/orange glow to it, it now casts a cold white light so they're retroactively changing films to that disgusting filter to make you think that's how the outside always looked like. Go out on a summer day and you will notice it looks more like the bottom right than the top left at this point and it's only going to get worse.
Also notice how rainbows are an increasingly rare sight. It used to be that you could always see a rainbow after a rainy day provided it was sunny, now you're lucky if you see one maybe twice in a summer.
>Also notice how rainbows are an increasingly rare sight. It used to be that you could always see a rainbow after a rainy day provided it was sunny, now you're lucky if you see one maybe twice in a summer.

My belief is that a major reason films get recolored like this is to help blend visual FX. When you give the whole image a wash it reduces contrast and helps the CG bits not stand out as much. I personally hate it but I do think it "works" in that regard. (And they have to do the whole movie to be consistent, not just the effects-heavy scenes.)

Basically fashion went from super colorful to black and grey and white. Back in the day clothes would be colorful because the thread and dye was expensive so people wanted to be seen in expensive colors and materials. Also signs and decorations were hand painted with vibrant colors, also modern times have moved on to florescent and led lamps and bulbs to save electricity but in turn removes color. Being colorful is also seen as weird or gay now, so most people buy cars in black/white/silver. Compared that to the 40s 50s where people had turquoise, pink, yellow cars in addition to red/black/white/blue, and especially the 60s where some people were fine with psychedelic cars. just a great lack of imagination and personalization. Even look at how 99% of electronics come in black.
Top one is atractive to children and parents, looks playful and whimsical.

They charge a lot more for color paint jobs on any car. This graph counts rental places, who buy the cheapest (white/black) models. If you live in any industrial area, you'll also see hundreds or thousands of white trucks for work sites, etc. Vans and delivery trucks are all predominantly white for mail, etc because a white van is cheapest model. Expansion of population, shit like Amazon fleets of trucks and packages moving with ever increasing populations lead to more of these disposable white vehicles for commercial and rental use.
For personal vehicles, black is pretty popular because it looks good and stays clean looking so less work for lazy populations to maintain it. Scratches, etc dont show up. Not as expensive as some red or yellow paint job.
I wanted to know the reason for this a while ago. Looked it up: >people (plebs) buy cars with resale in mind >"if I buy a wacky color" aka yellow/light blue/green etc, "then no one will buy my 2nd hand car if I ever need to sell!" >"better play it safe and buy a boring color everyone can agree with in order to increase chances of sale (just in case I sell!!!1)"
And so the buying masses all bought boring ass colors like slate grey, black, white or whatever the frick "just in case" they have to sell one day, maybe.
It's entirely a middle-class outlook that's shifted the entire industry.
Notice that the wealthy still have myriad color options, and the poor take what they can get and are irrelevant to this.
You did this to yourselves you boring bourgeois bumfricks.
So this is the power of Sam Mendes and top dollar post-production talent...remind me again why I am supposed to consider these inept morons better than YouTube filmmakers?
Quantum of Solace is marxist tripe. >villains moan about the raising of the minimum wage >bond's sexy time with a girl gets her killed, and rather than anyone just chalking it up to how evil the villain is a la Goldfinger, it's used as a lecture moment to berate Bond and show how everything le chauvinist pig he touches is destroyed. >long intense closeups of M's withered old hag face as she removes her makeup, tugging at her disgusting rubbery zombie skin in full detail >bond's close friend dies and he literally just throws his body in a fricking dumpster >throwaway line where character literally states that marxism=freedom (I guess war is peace and ignorance is strength too huh?)
The people who made this garbage have nothing but utter contempt for everything the 007 film franchise and Bond as a masculine icon stood for. Normal people watch films like this and come away thinking "It wasn't a very good Bond film, I didn't really like it, but I don't know why lol", because even if they don't understand the ideologies being injected, their subconscious basic sense of reality and decency picks up on it and rejects it. I'm surprised people even bother complaining about the modern "muh idris elba bond/muh woman bond" stuff being toyed with these days when this movie is clear indicator the franchise already died.
Ahh, and there's the cognitive dissonance. Can't formulate a rational response to the argument, so just plays "I bet"/"Let me guess" to assuage his frustrated ego. His feelings are hurt because the criticisms touched a nerve, but since he can't respond, he needs to imagine his opponent forced into some ideological pigeonhole so the opinion can be dismissed. Peak weak mindedness.

Not just this, but contempt for the whole romanticism of the spy genre. Friend/ally character deaths are usually heroic, or at least cinematic to some degree. This scene literally just shows the director/producers' disgust for the entire franchise.
bodies are just meat though. once a person is dead, there is nothing special about their remains.
the (modern) idea there is something special about people's remains comes from a misinterpretation of the bible, where people thought people would be restored into their physical remains when christ returns.
They're not separate, that's Prot cope. The soul and body are one, and we are given human nature via the type of our souls. Without our bodies we wouldn't be human, nor without the soul. They are inextricably linked. This is Church doctrine. Only through modern perversion has the mind-body split been "accepted" at large.
>watch Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2022 >the film was shot digitally and had a lot of CGI effects >they artificially added film grain, specks and gate weave to simulate an older 35mm film, specifically Roger Rabbit
Why does this look so good? Dune 2021 and The Batman went the extra mile and actually printed out the digital films to 35mm and then scanned them back.
The first time I ever saw an actual digital film simulate 35mm properly (instead of using a Windows Movie Maker effect) was with Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo, and that film looked good. It's probably the closest a 2D digital anime got to replicating the retro cel anime aesthetic.
Studio Ghibli and Studio Ponoc (Ghibli's successor) applied this to all their future films after Ponyo, while Ghibli retroactively applied this filter to the Blu-ray remasters of their older digital films to simulate their original 35mm theatrical releases.
Netflix also does this for some of their cartoons like The Cuphead Show! and Cat Burglar.
>Why does this look so good?
Because things in reality have texture, but it gets washed out when it's recorded digitally. Film prints reintroduce that in the form of flaws in the film itself causing grain, which out brain interprets as the texture that would otherwise be missing.
Pic related. The digitally removed the film grain for one of these releases of Predator. Guess which.

This isnt the only problem though. I recently bought my first really nice tv and it's driving me nuts that these fricking people can't agree on a universal standard for HD content. You've got HDR, Dolby Vision Bright, Dolby Vision Dark, IMAX enhanced, and a couple others I'm forgetting.
Colourgradebros... today was sunny and hot and as I was walking I noticed that everything looked kind of yellow, like having filters in front of my eyes. I've never been to Mexico, but maybe the movies were right all along?
Yes but how will we know that's mexico without the piss filter?
It does look better. Still one of the worst entries in the series.

moron. Several release did not have the blue filter thing and LOTR was still a fantasy movie.
I can only assume they have some kind of brain damage that affects colour vision.

>bond's sexy time with a girl gets her killed, and rather than anyone just chalking it up to how evil the villain is a la Goldfinger, it's used as a lecture moment to berate Bond and show how everything le chauvinist pig he touches is destroyed.
>long intense closeups of M's withered old hag face as she removes her makeup, tugging at her disgusting rubbery zombie skin in full detail
>bond's close friend dies and he literally just throws his body in a fricking dumpster
>throwaway line where character literally states that marxism=freedom (I guess war is peace and ignorance is strength too huh?)
I'm surprised people even bother complaining about the modern "muh idris elba bond/muh woman bond" stuff being toyed with these days when this movie is clear indicator the franchise already died.
this might be the most moronic and underage post i've ever seen on this site
Hello seething communist trash.
haha ok man, keep thinking only literal communists think you're moronic, it's going well for you
>no argument
>marxist seething
Big surprise, leftist only has cognitive dissonance and rage.
dis whiteboi eatin beans!!1
I miss it when Bond just raped the girl into correction and made her a good girl.
What's funny about your schizo post is that each of your 'examples' are all things that have occurred in pre daniel craig bond movies.
And leftism has rotten your brain so you can't discern the difference.
Have you got any tips to avoid brain rot and promote healthy brain activity?
Read a lot of books, expose yourself to social situations, and stay off Cinemaphile, mostly.
Results may vary.
>Expecting anyone obsessed with Marxists/commies to actually watch movies and not just obsess about things that aren't there
Many such cases
Found the virgin
>>bond's close friend dies and he literally just throws his body in a fricking dumpster
What's Marxist about that
Contempt for humanity, friendship, bonds. Literally treating dead white males as trash. Atheist marxist garbage.
hahaha he's religious too
let me guess, you loved the FBI until a couple of days ago and now they're marxists as well
Ahh, and there's the cognitive dissonance. Peak weak mindedness.
not reading your blog but enjoying the reeeeeing, keep going
write that again without crying
They doing to Trump's circle what they did to the Panthers and Malcom. They did it to African Socialists in Florida a week before raiding Trump. Nothing new here homie. If you ever take the side of the Feds, you're a mark and cannot be trusted. Trump 2024 homosexual
based. frick the feds, frick trump, and most importantly frick hilary
let me guess, when trump dies of a heart attack next year, its going to be because the vaccine was an international conspiracy to assassinate him before he could take the presidency again
just remember if you dislike trump for any reason you are a marxist and a CIA plant - libtards are the morons though!!! I'm not in a cult
>Hate reality TV stars
>Hate people who support Israel
>"WOOWWW GLOWIERR MARXIST MUCH???"
Lmao. Threads like these need to be deleted before schizos pollute the bandwidth.
you just gave every conspiracy theorist an orgasm
dude there are hundreds of better conspiracy theories
[global thing] was actually done to kill [specific person] is the gold standard of conspiracy theory.
unfortunately most conspiracytards can't cum because of pornography addiction
I don't think I've ever seen any pro-glowie sentiment on Cinemaphile that wasn't obvious bait.
trump guys are so easy to bait it's barely even fun anymore
Not just this, but contempt for the whole romanticism of the spy genre. Friend/ally character deaths are usually heroic, or at least cinematic to some degree. This scene literally just shows the director/producers' disgust for the entire franchise.
>this scene literally just shows the director/producers' disgust for the entire franchise.
nice
bodies are just meat though. once a person is dead, there is nothing special about their remains.
the (modern) idea there is something special about people's remains comes from a misinterpretation of the bible, where people thought people would be restored into their physical remains when christ returns.
the modern abrahamic relgions seperation of the body and soul was a big mistake
They're not separate, that's Prot cope. The soul and body are one, and we are given human nature via the type of our souls. Without our bodies we wouldn't be human, nor without the soul. They are inextricably linked. This is Church doctrine. Only through modern perversion has the mind-body split been "accepted" at large.
People were buried before the bible was even written
>(modern)
they seethe at you because you state the truth
that film sucked anus and the homosexuals here screeching simply reinforce its shittiness
It's wild how superior Casino Royale was compared to literally every other Craig shitshow, not even close
Roger Deakins insists that digital is better than film lol
No way he said that
He’s been saying it for the past 20 years, he pioneered this yellow filter shit in the first place
reminder that Quantum of Solace had real colors
Quantumchads rise up!
Literal marxist trash shitfilm.
Purple is the most hideous color.
Filters are inherently destructive to the quality, you can't get it back by changing TV settings.
>watch Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2022
>the film was shot digitally and had a lot of CGI effects
>they artificially added film grain, specks and gate weave to simulate an older 35mm film, specifically Roger Rabbit
Guess which.
come home whiteman
Noooo why is real life color graded!? This scene is all orange!
ok, but now it's pink/purple
>the mouthbreathing subhumans itt actually defending this shit
We're now at the point where we have a dedicated base of contrarians that are here solely to be contrary to the contrarians.
Fyi: you shorten the lifespan of your tv by doing this
Daily reminder Refn was offered to do this film but turned it down. I mourn the kino we missed
>mfw movies start getting ReShade presets
This isnt the only problem though. I recently bought my first really nice tv and it's driving me nuts that these fricking people can't agree on a universal standard for HD content. You've got HDR, Dolby Vision Bright, Dolby Vision Dark, IMAX enhanced, and a couple others I'm forgetting.
Colourgradebros... today was sunny and hot and as I was walking I noticed that everything looked kind of yellow, like having filters in front of my eyes. I've never been to Mexico, but maybe the movies were right all along?
