I played a game with a bunch of friends many years back. After a year, we got screwed by our allies who then went on to rule that server afterwards.
I made a new account after three months, joined that same server, and impressed my former allies who recruited me after another three months of observing me.
I spent three more months observing them in every fashion, to the point where I knew when most in that group would not be on.
Then, I demoted all of their admins, and booted the online players, and invited all of my friends from the game that got screwed over all that time ago who had no idea of what I was doing, but joined, and we destroyed them from the inside.
I'm hoping Moot is playing the long game for the same reason.
