>Well at least... >compared to... >it's a masterpiece compared to...
anytime I hear these as the main defense of a movie I immediately assume said movie is shit.
yeah and the effects in the original trilogy were fricking awful. They are all clearly models, had extremely poor compositing, and the shots were just models moving in a straight line as the camera slowly pans. Not to mention how bad the alien costumes looked like. There are very few notable good designs in the OT, most of them looked like cheap puppets made of latex and rubber.
The speeder scene in RotJ is atrocious, even after the remasters tried to fix the compositing.
The only movie that comes close to the prequels in the quality of its cgi and its creative design is avatar which had an extremely forgettable story. There no other movies that can make you feel like your in a different universe that people actually live in
Good post, taking a deep dive into the behind the scenes of the prequels reveals just how much practicality they used in the process, not that it’s a metric for actual “quality” of the movies but the argument that “much le cgi!!! I shit my diaper!!” Is annoying as fug TR8A
>Movies should not be art with messages and themes, just 2+ hour toy commercials with surface-level references to real world politics and history to compensate for actual substance
This is what Prequel fans honestly believe.
>Prequels relied too much on CGI
A lot of the locations were miniatures that they'd superimpose the actors onto. They also had actual sets and locations, so they weren't always in a blue screen room.
The prequels were bad and pretty much every criticism by RLM was correct. Though one important one wasn't. The prequels DID feel like Star Wars. It was bad Star Wars, but it was definitely made from the same crop, just weird and overcomplicated (Anakin should just have been a hot-headed ace pilot in the Naboo space force, because he had unrecognized force powers), but at least it didn't feel like a corpse paraded around like a costume in an expensive stage play.

Holy shit what a fricking waste of incredible sets and costumes
why is it a waste
all of those things were showcased very iconically to an entire generation
Because it's heavily diluted by CG
oh am i supposed to not like it now?
i guess my masters degree in valuable film opinions doesn’t mean my opinion is more valuable tho…
No, I never said you weren't supposed to like it you weird homosexual
>I went to university just so I could end up shilling the prequels on a mongolian basket weaving forum
Thank God they got rid of affirmative action
when cgi jar jar stepped in a cgi pile of poop i said wow i truly am in tatooine!
>it's an "ESL doesn't know how the internet works and makes a new thread instead of replying" episode
Or maybe I just didn't want to bump the shit thread I'm shitting on.

The prequels sucked dick
I don't remember this scene at all, who was the blue guy?
Darth Sad.
Practical effects are so much bett-
the one guy who has to hit himself because the choreography is nonsense lmao
They arewhen you don't have some Black personhomosexual woman trying to make everything into a tuti fruti bantu jungle dance
lmfao nice
>this scene isn't for a student movie or a low budget music video
Grim
this has nothing to do with practical effects, this is just bad choreography
sou-cubuss
Besides Closer and Your Highness,
Does Natalie Portman wear thongs/g-strings ?
>"The prequels sucked, therefore it's okay if Disney slop sucks!"
what’s the technical difference between blue and green screens? why did blue screens go away in favor of green?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_key
Tummy
GREEN SCREEN SOUL
SHITTY DIALOGUE SOUL
REDDIT PREQUEL MEMES SOUL
i’m not surprised baby talk is all you have at this point
this feels bad to watch physically
its like if a highschool production was given a 50 million dollar budget
more like 1 million
Giving money directly to the fans would probably be the best thing Disney could do with this franchise.
May the Thread be with you.
how is the person with guns not getting torn to shreds?
Prequels relied too much on CGI and the dialogue was shit. still better than anything Disney has made.
>Prequels relied too much on CGI

Regardless, prequels relied too much on CGI
>prequels relied too much on CGI
No it didn't. Quit being a fricking nerd, dude.
NTA but they did rely too much on ugly cgi
