no. they were made to sell toys. You just watched them when you were an impressionable child who didn't know any better. "soul" is a buzzword you use to describe media because you lack the articulation necessary to properly state what the films were like. Grow up.

I don't get prequel hate.
what do the other movies have that these don't?
>People had high expectations >Lucas delivered a weird movie that said darth vader made C3P0 >the force was about your m-cell count not being a true believer >spinning is a good trick >CG ages worse than practical effects >Lucas made more weird decisions in the 2 and 3 like >lightsaber battling Yoda >Yoda being jobbed out to the emperor >clone armies for the good guys
>weirdo political intrigue that doesn't really world build as much as it excuses the inevitability of the plot and has depth tantamount to a law and order episode

I first watched them before TFA came out. In high school all girls in my class were obsessed with them and had a crush on Hayden so I utterly disdained them and refused to acknowledge their existence.
I rewatched rots recently and I was blown away by how boring and shit the backgrounds looked. The cgi metal was especially ugly, it was genuinely jarring.
The prequels are well presented enough on their own but compared to the original trilogy there is a lot missing, the action, music, charisma, memorable one liners, editing, like there is something missing, and that missing element becomes an element unto itself, a black hole, a void that nullifies all hope and optimism, as if to say, how did it get this bad, how did you all go along with this to let society come to its current state. It was a warning for our present times.
It’s amazing how much of the shit that would go onto ruin modern movies spawned from this trilogy >soulless cgi >stupid quips and “humor” >bland characters whose only memorable trait is the actor that plays them >nonsensical stories that only serve to move characters between set pieces >digital camera work

Ah, yes who could forget the masterful duel between Obi-Wan and Vader >music
Believing the PT has better soundtrack isn’t a controversial >charisma
Best casting for Obi-Wan and an unforgettable performance by Ian McDiarmid >memorable one liners
So unmemorable to point where everyone is quoting it >editing
Guess George’s wife couldn’t save it in the edit
Yeah. I think they suck fricking dick but they clearly had a vision and care put into them.
Also, the designs for Episode 1 were fricking NICE. They made a great pivot from the grungy 70's scifi to sleek 2000's scifi. Kinda lost it in the later episodes though.
>at least
They were bad though, why can't they be good instead?
the prequels are good films
I don't get prequel hate.
what do the other movies have that these don't?
don't try to understand them. prequel hate is irrational homosexualry
Everyone said the prequels sucked, so I said it too. I like being right.

The only thing that comes to mind when I see these films is Pepsi and Doritos.
The marketing campaign for these movies was disgusting. There was JarJars and droids on everything.
TPM maybe, not a healthy soul but it's a movie. AOTC no. ROTS frick no.
ROTS is incredibly soulful, you twat.
They were fricking shit
Agreed, especially regarding TPM. The last movie of the franchise that feels like Star Wars.

Hayden was so beautiful in rots
I'M SORRY GEORGE
They not only had soul, they actually had coherent plots and characters with complete arcs.
The scenes on Geonosis were so crushingly soulless that they retroactively took soul away from the original trilogy.
I rewatched rots recently and I was blown away by how boring and shit the backgrounds looked. The cgi metal was especially ugly, it was genuinely jarring.
It really is to bad rots didn't get the same amount of care put into it as the phantom menace. If only the other 2 had its production values.
>At least they had soul
Nope, you are WRONG. They were poorly-written soulless CGI shitfests and always will be. Consider suicide.
sould've kept him for episode 2 at least

I disagree.
"Soul" is a cope word. The prequels are shit and always will be. Redlettermedia was right about everything.
Yeah. I think they suck fricking dick but they clearly had a vision and care put into them.

No they didn't. FFS, you know you can hate the prequels AND hate Disney's slop, too, right? There's no law stopping you from doing so.
The prequels ruined Star Wars for ever. Bad acting, bad SFX, bad story, bad characters.
