It's meant to be a child holding the massive balls of her father who is squatting down on top of her
They didn't get approval by the city for the father statue. Good eye, anon

It was a weekend for me, and I was supremely hungover. But Devs made it all worthwhile. Amazing show.

Binged the first four episodes, watched the rest weekly. Good show. If anything I'm thankful to it for getting me into Philip Larkin

If you cut out the spy filler and teach sonoyo how to act it’s pretty kino. Should have been a feature length film not a miniseries.

Do you think Forest broke his cute crust? That would be hot

it's just that the ending really makes no sense. i was all on board with the sci-fi themes until the protag learned that she could make reality bend to her will just because she willed it. there is no sci-fi that's just magic shit. saying it's because of quantum whatever the frick isn't gonna cut it

        >the machine only seemed to "work" but in a way it was just simulating shit very accurately, especially when it came to the future stuff
        >everyone in the inner circle were so convinced and indoctrinated that they acted just as the machine predicted even thought they really didn't have to
        >protagonist woman broke it simply because she was new and didn't believe the machine, the machine never actually worked
That's how I remember it. Been a while though.

That was my take. Everyone within the inner circle on the Devs project is so high on the team's god-complex that they believe the observed outcomes are impossible to alter even with foreknowledge. This indoctrination is so strong that they end up taking actions to course correct back onto the predicted path when the forecasted events break with reality.

this is all there is to it. fresh and outside perspectives can benefit the whole. you can view that through a /misc/ lens as code for "diversity good" but I enjoyed it for what it was.

        >protag learned that she could make reality bend to her will just because she willed it.
Yeah I’ve heard it was an allegory for eve eating the apple or something idk garland has always had trouble with the 3rd act.

I was invested enough with the theming of the show's depressive vibe that I started to believe that there was no possible way to change what would happen.

Forest was wrong. He needed to believe the universe is deterministic so that he would not feel guilty about his family, and created a machine with limitations that would confirm his bias. But the universe is not deterministic, which is why it started working perfectly once the e-girl adjusted the code, and why the main character could "break" from the machine's "predictions"

basically she just chose to not enable a self-fulfilling prophecy, a predictive machine cannot contain within its predictions the consequences of knowing the predictions

Garland cannot write an ending to save his life. It's insane. Sadly, his first and second acts are often great.

I liked it. Garland's work might be flawed, but at least he's trying to actually do scifi.
