Literally the most formulaic show of all time. EVERY episode is the same
      >Bad guys massacre innocent people in order to get their water or land or hotel or taxi company or restaurant
      >We have to find... le A Team
      >They go to Hannibal in the worst "disguise" imaginable
      >They fight the bad guys once
      >Filler, usually Murdoch and B.A doing shtick
      >Fight the bad guys again
      >Ripoff of McGuyver where they build something
      >The bad guys lose (but nobody is dead)
And then every cast member acts confused for decades about why the show got canned

The final three episodes of any season should be:
    >clip show episode that encompasses the best moments of the season
    >part 1 with cliffhanger
    >part 2 with cliffhanger resolved

    >opening scene showing what happened

Works great for medical dramas, detective shows and police procedurals.

There's not a single television show intro I don't skip, doesn't matter how good the intros are, I skip them every single time. If I'm starting a rewatch I will watch the intro for the first episode and then never again.

LOST had the best intro of all time, a shitty animation that lasted 5 seconds and it managed to have a mood and set the tone.

Yeah this intro is great, its beautiful and the music is fantastic. I never watch it when I watch the show, imagine sitting through a 90 second intro EVERY time you start an episode, nah man.

I don't need to be pulled into the world as I'm watching a show though, because I'm already fully invested in it.
I don't know, maybe its just me but I TV intros are just 100% a novelty gimmick, they're cool that first time, then I never need to see them again.

Not being American I didn't understand why shows did B. Then I went to the USA and it made sense. Commercials. They would squeeze in a cold open, then the intro-titles and go straight to commercial. If they did A there'd be no time to get the story going, so doing B at least gave you a taste of the story before the break.

  36. 3 weeks ago

If B are cold opens then those are kinos. "Previously on" suck, but they had their reasons back when you couldn't easily catch up on a show.

Intros are stupid. They used to work on broadcast TV to segue into the first commercial breaks of the air slot, whether it had a cold open or not.
Now they're just annoying. So annoying that every platform includes a skip intro function. But when you watch unlicensed video, you don't get that, so you have to manually skip.

This would be more forgivable if the intros were right at the start, but every show wants to have its cold opens now, so you can't just skip 90 seconds from the start, you have to wait for it to come on and manually skip forward.
The only format that works well is a simple 5-10 second title card. But there are still many shows that have a standard 30-90 second intro, some even longer than that.
