audiences are actually braindead. They gave the other live action remakes glowing scores despite being objectively the death of creativity and being complete wastes of time. When it comes to nostalgia, audiences are completely compromised.

If it's a big, heavily marketed movie, then both critic and audience scores are useless. The only indicator of quality is what I see of the movies themselves in the trailers.

And look how that claim turned out.
Rings of Power was the most successful Amazon original, therefore its audience liked it. Which also means the low score are from people who didn't watch it and were just trying to sabotage the show.

            Anonymous

The audience *didn't* like the Rings of Power. It had a 37% series completion rate, along with abysmal reviews across every platform.

B-b-but it only got negative reviews because of "angry chuds." And RT totally wasn't caught rigging the numbers. Neither were Amazon and IMDB.

        Anonymous

It doesn't just mean that. It means people who decided to buy tickets in the U.S. through Fandango (no other ticket agent is accepted) before opening weekend and decided to leave a review. That creates selection bias as the people who are most likely to do that are super fans or even the crew who worked on the movie.

The newest God's Not Dead has a 100% verified audience rating. Does that mean it's an absolute crowd pleaser that no one on earth would dislike?

If critics and audiences like a movie then it has a 50/50 shot of actually being good. If critics are the only ones who like a movie then we are looking at a pleb-filter OR a movie that critics were paid to defend. If critics hate a movie and audiences love it them we are looking at a movie that critics hate for poltitical reasons or a movie that critics hate because they don't know how to turn off their brains.

Brie Larson's career collapsed, her following on youtube died, Ms. Marvel is the least watched show ever on Disney+, The Marvels has the most dislikes of any MCU trailer ever.
    >Black Panther
The merchandise sold like shit, and it's been documented beyond question that hundreds of celebrities and charity organizations raised money to buy up theaters worth of tickets to manufacture a success, but the toys didn't make money because there is no organic following, just rich narcissists who tried to tell kids what to like by buying up theaters.

    >The Last Jedi
Rian Johnson's trilogy was cancelled, he was taken off the movies, the merchandise sold like absolute shit. There are piles of Rose and Finn dolls sitting in landfills that had been marked down to fifty fricking cents. Each sequel made less than the previous and by the time they got to Rise the audience for the biggest franchise on Earth had dropped by two thirds. They just shut down the Star Wars hotel taking a loss of billions.
    >Wheel of Time
Genuine oversight, I thought they cancelled it, I mean the ratings are pathetic. I'll probably change it to reflect that, but I'm lazy. It's like "No one's watching that show, so it's as good as cancelled anyway."
    >I liked Annihilation
Then you have bad taste for feminist slop with literal "I cucked my husband with a black man" subplots. You liking it is irrelevant, it ate shit at the box office.

It's like those shitty evangelical Christian or Indian nationalist movies that have overwhelmingly positive reviews. You got filtered. The movie could not bang you over the head harder with the point that the protagonist was a self destructive person who set her own happily married life on fire, to the point that when the Shimmer copied her it just decided to kill itself.

Not that anon what you said doesn't say anything about the movie's stance on interracial relationships. The writer-director is a mindbroken feminist who doesn't look down interracial relationships, cuckoldry and especially not feminism.

            >cuckholding
A movie having a character cheat on their spouse does not make it pro-cuckholding any more than portraying a murder makes a movie pro-homicide. The infidelity was clearly a negative thing with devastating consequences for their marriage and got both the protagonist and her husband killed/corrupted by the Shimmer.
            >feminism
When (if) you have kids you're going to realize a lot of that is not actually bad, HR morons aside. Also, the book was about a group of women. I knew you were lying homosexual. It doesn't decide to kill itself. Lena kills it. This crux of this movie wasn't simply that Lena was self-destructive but that she should forgive herself for her mistakes(aka cuckolding her hubby). Her hubby forgives her as well.

Watch your own video again, after the wife sets the mimic on fire it passively stands there for a moment accepting its fate, then walks around first setting the husband's corpse on fire, then deliberately reaching out a burning hand to the (fungus?) on the wall and setting the lighthouse on fire, then crawling into the Giger-esque lair and laying down to die in the middle of all that. It stopped copying the protagonist after she handed it the white phosphorus grenade, setting fire to everything and passively accepting death rather than just ditching that particular mimic. It was able to handle the husband burning himself to death in the same way in the same room without destroying the Shimmer; the Shimmer kept going after the husband killed himself but accepted its destruction after copying the wife.
                >Her hubby forgives her as well.
I don't recall this. As the husband kills himself, he tells the mimic copying him that "If you ever get out of here, find Lena."
That's pretty ambiguous and I don't read it as forgiveness. He's just been mindfricked by an alien bodysnatcher and he's telling the thing that corrupted and ultimately made him commit suicide to go find her. It's like if you were a victim of Dracula and told the vampire to go find your ex. If you mean how the husband and wife hugged at the end, at a minimum the husband was a replacement mimic and the wife was infected.

                >Watch your own video again, after the wife sets the mimic on fire it passively stands there for a moment accepting its fate
Because it's barely human and doesn't know what to do. In fact, it often obeys the orders of the original which is what her husband's mimic does. A mimic copies almost everything you have....except your memories. It's not functional or even emotionally similar to the original nor has any of their baggage. They're their own person.

With Lena she killed her mimic but what got out of the shimmer wasn't her as well. The shimmer changed her and that change is forgiveness. As if a male feminist wouldn't redeem a female character.

You claimed all the people who aren't "verified" didn't watch the movie and are all racists, despite the fact that the negative reviews mention nothing about race. So prove your claim.

Sure hope its an open process where everyone can see what's going on and why it is verified.

      >What's the process to get "verified"?
You purchase a ticket through an affiliate like Fandango. It doesn't necessarily mean that someone has even watched the film. The shenanigans to look for, though, is when the "verified" score is hugely disparate from the "all audience" score. This almost always correlates with films that flop at the box office.

Disney is getting lazy, people going to see this movie is hurting the film industry because it will lead to more soulless cash grab remakes. by not supporting this movie I am showing that I expect better. They fired their 2D animation dept btw. None of the remakes add anything to the original, they usually remove stuff from them. These are just awful awful cheap movies. we have fallen far from the legacy Disney created from their original works.

I do trust the audience score over the critics. Maybe it's good. But I feel like this is fake and gay. It has been known before too that these companies pay for positive reviews. Metacritic is more trustworthy imo.

No it isn't, anyone can give a score. In Rottentomatoes you need to buy a ticket to review a movie, therefore preventing reviewbombing.

Top fukken kek. It doesn't prevent "reviewbombing" from paid shills. It's shit you can sub out to Chinese clickbait farms for pennies over the cost of a ticket.

Oh, I see we have a self-proclaimed expert here who can't handle the fact that audiences might actually have their own opinions. Trusting the audience over critics doesn't necessarily mean the movie is 'really good,' but it acknowledges that different people have different tastes and perspectives. Maybe instead of searching for 'cope excuses,' you could try embracing diverse opinions and realizing that not everyone sees things through the same lens.
