Nihilism is a cancer. israelites need to stop promoting this kind of shit to the younger generations. Anyone who believes in nihilistic philosophy should kys. You think life is depressing and pointless? Ok, then leave, homosexual
Rust's character arch is one of redemption. The whole line about looking up at the star and all the black surrounding it, is about good versus evil. Though the character is in an existential crisis at the beginning of the show , by the end he is man of some form of faith. Kinda funny you missed that, its almost ham fisted how clear they made it
And thats the very same ending that "fans" b***hed about for being too "happy" becuase they wanted a reddit dark depressing life is hopeless kind of ending. See nihilistic homosexuals will always b***h about everyone not being as depressed as them. Nihilism is an absolute cancer
>Rust's character arch is one of redemption
Petty revenge against the God that 'would allow it.' Ending needed him to mutter, "and I lied to save you all." after Marty walks away outside the hospital. Courtesy enough to not weigh down his partner after their token victory against a political behemoth infecting the entire government, with a little backhand blasphemy in the "Father, why hast thou forsaken me?" vein. Cohle is a thoroughly Barton Fink type, and the momentary lapse into sincerity stretched credulity

>t. didn't watch the show
Rust literally cures his nihilism by the end of the show and believes in something higher than himself. Of course it's fricking israelite-run HBO so they'd never be able to make him Christian, but such is life.
>Of course it's fricking israelite-run HBO so they'd never be able to make him Christian, but such is life.
You're moronic if you think someone like Rust would convert to Christianity, even if he met God face to face
I mean who would?
>character literally claims he's a pessimist >based moron on Cinemaphile thinks he knows what he's talking about and say some shit about nihilism to appear intelligent.
They fricked themselves developing the cult-like behaviour with social media bots pretending this was the greatest show ever. No other season can live up to the hype, especially if production never created that level of quality in the first place.
Yellow King, cultists, time is a flat circle, creator of the show citing works of Laird Barron as as a direct inspiration (flat circle, similar to Barron's use of Ouroboros in his stories.)
You missed the entire point, moron.
Oh yeah that's right, all of those things that ended up having absolutely zero relevancy to anything whatsoever and just became set dressing.
TD has always been funny for how the audience is split between Rust loving pseuds and based Marty dudes
You are such a fricking homosexual. The entire reason Childress does what he does is so totally cosmic horror in essence.
You're non-too bright aren't yah? The King In Yellow is straight up a eldritch being in this story.
Watch it again, idiot.

Do you think Childress, Ledoux, Dewall and Cohle understood they were just actors on the infinite plain? They seemed to be very meta-aware, and I don't mean their batshit insane monologues.

Of course. Did they know that in reality they were just meat to be chewed?
I suppose that's up for interpretation.

I found it very creepy when Cohle made all the beer stick figures in the same arrangement that Marty's daughter did with her playdolls. Also similar to the wooden sculptures and the tape, like a metaphysical osmosis of evil.

The Croning is the best story set in his mythos, the most fleshed-out. Is an actual novel. Other than that, several of his short story collections have some good stuff, some other Children of Old Leech stuff.
I started with the Occultation collection but I'd suggest The Croning if you really want the best parts of his mythos all tied together into a decent story.

On a side note, avoid the collection actually entitled "the children of old leech" it's a collaborative effort between other authors set in Barron's universe and is amateur as all fricking hell.
Stick with the stuff from the man himself.

No problem, hope you enjoy. Last few folks who asked came back and told me they hated it all so YMMV
season 2 was almost just as good as season 1. the reason people didnt like it as much was because people were expecting a paranormal tinge like in s1. and s2 was basically just a copy/paste of s1 with all the pronouns changed and no paranormal cult. but it was still really good.
s3 i stopped watching in e2. is it worth picking back up? i really didnt like the main dude
My favorite scene is at the strip club and Marty is talking to the bartender (who is played by the creator and writer Nic Pizzalatte) and goes "Why you making me say all this shit, man?"
The best thing about it was the characterization and that gets better with repeat viewings of something. But if you rewatch it you might notice the story isn't particularly good, the characters are fairly cliched archetypes whose minor novelties don't really stand up on repeat viewings, and the overall writing is pretty wanting and doesn't hold together very well. It was good and all but acting like it's one of the greatest tv shows of all time is a stretch--it was elevated by acting and directing.
I rewatched it and it wasn't anywhere near as good the second time. The show shits the bed after episode 4. Woody's character pulling multiple hot young women was moronic, and rust's mumbling teenage atheist nonsense was just irritating.
Is there a better Lovecraftian adaptation than this? This is 10/10 peak cosmic horror. While I enjoyed season 2, it completely abandoned the themes to have a cookie cutter detective thriller about individualism. It was a very different show.
Sorry, but I've moved on from watching tv to mowing other men's lawns
What if I haven’t even watched it yet
Nihilism is a cancer. israelites need to stop promoting this kind of shit to the younger generations. Anyone who believes in nihilistic philosophy should kys. You think life is depressing and pointless? Ok, then leave, homosexual
Moron. There. Nobody else reply to this guy saying how stupid he is because I already did it.
Are the other seasons anywhere near as kino or should I just stop now?
>You are moronic!
>Why?
>Because you just are ok??

Wrong.
Just because he's still miserable and fricked up from what hes seen solving the case doesnt mean he doesn't come to some peace with that darkness
not so much peace with the darkness but, feeling of some purpose in fighting it
And thats the very same ending that "fans" b***hed about for being too "happy" becuase they wanted a reddit dark depressing life is hopeless kind of ending. See nihilistic homosexuals will always b***h about everyone not being as depressed as them. Nihilism is an absolute cancer
Exactly. What show did idiots even stare at?

wow, someone who actually paid attention, I'm surprised people like you still hang around this shithole board
Respond to my post
you chicken shit coward. What? Too afraid?
>Are the other seasons anywhere near as kino or should I just stop now?
There are no "other seasons".
No, I think the Mc was clearly an anti-natalist. Something that goes against the principles of the "jews".
>character expresses nihilist viewpoints
>immediately after claims he's too scared to kill himself
why are you getting this mad
>Ok, then leave
That doesn't solve anything.
Talk about morons, huh.

your post literally makes zero sense. You wanna try again anon?
>they'd never be able to make him Christian
They made him a Christ figure instead.
whoa
it looks like we we're the true detectives all along bros....
well done anon, well done.
thanks bro
if you've smelled one psycho's fear you've smelled em all
know what I mean?
actually I don't, anon. Wanna elab?
>Nihilism is a cancer.
Literally the thesis of the show. You're baiting.
Certifiably filtered.
>Anyone who believes in nihilistic philosophy should ky
That's a pretty nihilist argument, dum dum
>character literally claims he's a pessimist
>based moron on Cinemaphile thinks he knows what he's talking about and say some shit about nihilism to appear intelligent.
Watching it as it came out was magical but mystery solution was kinda disappointing
This and Twin Peaks are my favorite shows. What else would I like?
the knick
>Evil White men genius black men and women are always right, The Series
your loss, homosexual
Yeah, moron, my loss that I watched the whole show and it was woke garbage.
They fricked themselves developing the cult-like behaviour with social media bots pretending this was the greatest show ever. No other season can live up to the hype, especially if production never created that level of quality in the first place.
Nope. but I can watch it for the 6th time in about five minutes.
Finale was underwhelming
Bad opinion.
The only problem was that I already expected it to be this guy. I thought it would be a killer bait but it wasn't.
>I can't into cosmic horror
Pleb
There was no cosmic horror though, it was all just bait and switch illusions based off a squares idea of what drugs can do
Idiot
Tell me you're a Rustgay without telling me

Where to start with with him?

Of course we will. Time and time again. Time is a circle.
>marty chased skinny bawds while having this at home
Do you think she used a stunt ass?
>>...while having this at home
Rust didn't live with him. Did you even watch the show?
Rust being a cringelord nihilist made perfect sense once they revealed he was a two pump chump. One of the best comedic scenes in the history of tv.
mfw someone says the name Julie around me
Just wait for the new season!
I've never watched is it good?
Just watch it mother fricker.
best tv show there
How do you spell Rust actor name again?
>You can skip Season 2, but Season 3 is peak kino.
i still dont get it.

>side note
Why does Rust's nose look so fricking huge in these scenes?

>why yes, I underwent the Severance procedure to rewatch all my favorite kino for the first time, why do you ask
season 3 was bland as frick
i watched this but i don't remember shit. so i guess if i do decide to watch it again... it will be like the first time again?
