A lot of Irish were seething at her over this song, apparently (it talks about both sides but the impetus for its creation was an IRA bomb that killed two English boys).

I have a genuine fascination and interest in The Troubles and I like reading about both sides in the conflict and their millitary and political maneuvers

but the IRA are so fricking weepy and gay about what they did.

They're half the reason why "plastic" paddys are a phenomenon. Lots of heritage pride stoking for gibs.

I just can't stand the crying about 'collusion' and people being unarmed when shot
          >we are going to target enemy troops not only on the frontlines but in staging areas, barracks and depots in order to weaken the enemy's fighting capability
          >AHH NOOO WHY ARE YOU SHOOTING US WE CLEARLY JUST DROPPED THE FIREARMS WE USED TO SHOOT AT YOU THAT MEANS WE'RE INSTANTLY NONCOMBATANTS AND YOU HAVE TO BE NICE TO US

        >weepy
Yeah I think it’s pretty pathetic when they whine about their operatives in Gibraltar getting shot on their way to blow up a car bomb, and so forth. If your struggle is legitimately a war for independence, then you accept the casualties that go along with it.
I also think it’s lame they accepted the prisoner release of the GFA then turned around and are trying to bring up British soldiers on charges for shit that happened forty years ago. My potato homie, a clean slate is a clean slate and goes both ways. Move on.

Anyways I recommend 'Making Sense Of The Troubles' for a great and truly unbiased look at what was going on and how it all played out, especially the new editions with a post-Good Friday chapter

Thatcher said their cause wasn't politcial it was crime. "Crime is crime is crime." You don't execute unarmed people suspected of a crime.
          >I also think it’s lame they accepted the prisoner release of the GFA
IRA prosecuted and jailed for years. Not a single British soldier jailed for the same thing.

A lot of Irish were seething at her over this song, apparently (it talks about both sides but the impetus for its creation was an IRA bomb that killed two English boys).

When she died they played the song at a rugby match in her home county. Then "they" decided to make it a rugby anthem which is very suspect.

if they wanted to be treated according to the Geneva Convention, maybe they should've abided by it themselves.

They were extremely pissed that Thatcher placed them on the same level as drug dealers, wife-killers and had big ass protests in jail and literally shit everywhere until they were designated political prisoners... but then they always pissed and moaned whenever one of them was shot while unarmed, as though legitimate soldiers can't be targeted without a weapon in their hands.

Was it the same IRA bomb that killed the pedophile Lord Mountbottom?

No, the bombs went off in a crowded shopping center in Warrington due to a 'failure' to deliver adequate warning.

It only took 27 years for someone to finally put this in a zombie movie. Why didn't anyone do it before Zack Snyder?

Difficult to say. NI seemed less pozzed until the recent burnings and destruction of migrant housing in the Republic.

There's a lot of people in NI who have 'friends' from 'days gone by' and I think they could mount an even more successful campaign against Black personification than the Republic, but it seems they're still stuck in the old mindset.
