in fairness though your point stands: what Homer is typically eating is visibly cake donuts (they draw in the crumbs and everything) and those are indeed lousy. they're cheap, shelf-stable, high-calorie foods for blue-collar joes or cops, because you can just mindlessly eat them to refuel in between long stretches of sedentary work punctuated by frantic, stressful physical exertion.

guys, GUYS
the episode in which we found out about this, -they were telling Lisa the story. Because she had forgotten-
so you're both right. Yes she forgot because she was 3-4. no, she shouldn't have forgotten it now, because they told her about it when she was 8, and got her a NEW saxophone, which was engraved with a special message from Homer.
She was told this story of how she got her sax when she was 8, and then directly after that, homer did the same thing AGAIN and used their AC fund to buy her a new sax.
I remember being two years old and hiding under a table because I'd pissed myself, licking a fat battery because it "tasted funny" and calling heels "co-co"s because of the sound they make. You are a memorylet.
I distinctly remember him always complaining about her sax playing in the early seasons. But when it came to that jug she used to play, he was always supportive.
How does that even work? I am not following this anymore. Did the time-shift just happened at once and the audience just rolled with it?
Do characters like Bleeding Gums Murphy exist now? Did the family ever faced any of the troubles from the first 9 or so seasons but it's in the 00s now? How does that whole thing work? Like did Bart ever steal a video game for christmas and all of that, did the new episodes ever refer to anything from the old ones?
Or did they literally erased everything about the old Simpsons, basically turning this into a whole different series?
Majority of the time it's irrelevant Simpsons just makes jokes that work in a modern sense. It doesn't become apparent until the joke is centered around a time period also in reference to modern characters. It then starts going out of whack when these flashback episodes start compiling with decades of differences between them. So Homer and Marge have to be in High School during the 70s and late 90s, Bart needs to be born in the Early 80s and Mid90s
It's just her sister/brother(?) in this case though. I didn't watch the episode but if she accompanied him to the treatment it doesn't hint that she did it as well.
Besides that she has kids so it should be impossible.
It's a shitty joke just trying to say something wild to imply the Lovejoy's wild and somewhat hypocritical past. It also implies she's a fricking israelite. It's not meant to be taken seriously.
I wonder how many years it will take till they retcon the timeframe again and we see toddler Bart playing with smartphones and growing up with high-speed internet.
Other than them getting the dog in season 1 nothing changes, there is never any mention of anything from a previous episode, every episode is in it's own little bubble.
I think it's funny they did a one off joke where a character died and was replaced by his unmentioned identitical twin brother and the fans / wiki act like they are actually 2 different characters. Most shows fans wouldn't put so much stock in a dumb joke.
Wikia authors are often autistic and take jokes frombthe show/game/author/director/etc at face value, this is happens in a lot of fandoms. I guess you need to be autistic to keep a Wikia running to begin with.

of course, even if he knew the regular schedule, in this episode he was staying home from church, so he was watching during an unfamiliar timeslot so it was a total crapshoot. Actually at the time this aired, I think Nicktoons aired Sunday morning.
Last time I remember something like that happening to me was flipping channels one day in the afternoon and seeing the Mighty Max cartoon for the first time with somebody actually getting killed on a syndicated cartoon show. Blew my mind what that cartoon got away with at times.

They don't, they do have nostalgia for Hirokazu Tanaka however.
We still have Koji Kondo and Jun Ishikawa however. Tanaka still does music, but it's nothing like the stuff he did the 1980s.
>6' 240lb was comically obese in 92' >Homer has accomplished more at 36 than 90% of millennials ever will in their lifetime simply by owning a home with two cars and three kids and being able to afford to go drinking after work
>104kg
To be honest it's still a lot, even the heavy people I know weigh maybe 85kg and Homer is fat but not landwhale-fat (save for that one episode).
The Simpsons died after Season 10. It's now on life support by incompetent millennial writers. Boomer & gen X writers were what gave the Simpsons soul.
Waiting for 90s teen Homer to go to Lollapalooza and see young adult Homer playing in Sadgasm while middle aged Homer gets a cannon ball shot into his stomach.
>zombie simpsons memory wiped Lisa’s character.
she acts more like a real kid in newer seasons. childish outbursts and tantrums, acting goofy and silly
Did they fricked up Skinner too? I always liked Skinner.
Just a shitpost, But the fact that I actually went to check the wikia shows how stupid the new series is, it has already done more than one retcon I would have never expected to happen.
It's just her sister/brother(?) in this case though. I didn't watch the episode but if she accompanied him to the treatment it doesn't hint that she did it as well.
Besides that she has kids so it should be impossible.
They've basically thrown out the whole Vietnam war veteran thing and the whole him not being Agnes real son, since they've had episodes of him as a kid/teenager but ultimatley they don't use him a lot since they dont use proper school plots since Edna died.
They did have one episode where he actually got a win for once and was shockingly competent which was nice.
>but ultimatley they don't use him a lot since they dont use proper school plots since Edna died
Maybe it's for the better.
The lack of vietman is still baffling though. It was such an essential part of his personality and a lot of jokes related to him.
Vietnam is way too old now to use. They'd have to retcon him to desert storm or maybe early war on terror.

Yeah it's doomed to fail. You can never take characters out of context especially not the Simpsons. It works with South Park because SP isn't inherently tied to a specific decade. Cartman wanted his wii, sure, but that episode is rather about the issue of waiting for something you love and shiny cool new game consoles (and later the whole atheist thing) than a problem caused by anything 00s related.
in about two years, max.
I didn't think about this since I lost my sense of time. But considering that a Bart from the 00s would be around 20 now is insane and makes this probable. >tfw at some point Homer and Marge will be zoomers

I feel like the show could work if they allowed for a small, near invisible absurdity. Let the show proper exist in the present day but whenever the past is referenced, Homer and Marge went to high school in the 70s, Skinner was in Vietnam, etc. The question of how impossible that would be is way less intrusive than constantly reinventing the character backstories. It's already implausible that a millennial Homer could be the sole breadwinner with just a high school diploma and still afford a house. Even the town itself has oddities. Church attendance is waaaay down now compared to the 1980s. And when's the last time you've been to a comic shop? Hell, Krusty the Clown was out of date even when the show premiered. These aren't things that need to be addressed.
They've basically thrown out the whole Vietnam war veteran thing and the whole him not being Agnes real son, since they've had episodes of him as a kid/teenager but ultimatley they don't use him a lot since they dont use proper school plots since Edna died.

It has had several deaths, the first was jerk ass Homer (season 6), then was vegan (season 7) Lisa, then Skinner, then was post season 9 (Skinner was in Season 9), then with Phil Hartman and trying to replace Troy with Gil (season 10), then was Mod (Season 10), then was Edna (season 11), then was Zombie Simpsons, then Apu (season 29), then "woke" Simpsons

To be fair, Homer is consistently unsupportive as his default. Most those moments are at the end of episodes where Homer can get over himself and connect to his daughter.
>MUH MUSIC
Lisa hasn't done anything more ambitious than playing in her grade school band class in decades, has she? Aside from being permanently trapped in 3rd grade, what fricking aspirations does Lisa have beyond grumbling about how no one takes her sax playing seriously?
There was a recent episode where she was accepted into an upscale child orchestra conducted by JK Simmons but purposely bombed a performance because attending the orchestra took a lot of time and cost a lot of money and she didnt want to be a strain on her family
They massacred every character a long time ago. Even I liked the early Lisa but zombie simpsons even turned Bart to shit. I remember a scene where he pulled the plug when Homer was lying in an ICU bed. I closed the player that very moment and never looked back. They don't understand the Simpsons.
I wonder how many years it will take till they retcon the timeframe again and we see toddler Bart playing with smartphones and growing up with high-speed internet.

https://pagesix.com/2023/11/15/entertainment/billie-eilish-called-tone-deaf-for-saying-men-arent-body-shamed-like-women/amp/

>The singer caught flack after saying in her Variety cover story that men are not body-shamed like women.

>“If you’re muscular, cool. If you’re not, cool. If you’re rail thin, cool. If you have a dad bod, cool. If you’re pudgy, love it! Everybody’s happy with it. You know why? Because girls are nice.
>“They don’t give a f—k because we see people for who they are!”
I liked the simpsons at some point. it's like that uncle who was rad and cool when you were a kid but then became a shame for the family and just keeps getting worse every year, but he's still your uncle and you feel bad about what he has become.
I wonder if this is a case of zoomers not knowing how TV used to shape the social landscape, like, you had set alarms and shit for TV shows, people would schedule their entire weeks around when certain shows would come on, shit that was popular was never just a TV show, it was culture and art, it changed the way people spoke and interacted.
I can guarantee you every millennial that can remember 1992 on this board was raised by TV and a good chunk of their personality and morality was developed by watching TV.
She wasn't like that in the earlier seasons. She used to be the voice of reason before they turned her a liberal self-absorbed c**t in the later seasons. I remember hating her character first for that very reason.
That's not entirely true. At the start she was as much of a brat as Bart. Then she was a relative voice of reason but could also be neurotic and sometimes overestimated her intelligence. She became Sadie Soapbox much later.
Zombie Simpsons and all modern writing for shows that go on too long forgets their longer standing events for the sake of telling what story they want to push in the short term. If writers had to worry about adhering to canon from season one in season thirty nine, fricking nothing would get done. It would be a nightmare to write for.

I know guest stars always have conditions before agreeing to be on but it really felt out of place.
Normies are not going to go that far back, they will watch 2 or 3 seasons AT MOST and then pass it on to the next market.
This is a transitioning cartoon, a cartoon that transition you from cartoons like SpongeBob to that of live action sitcoms, thats all Simpsons and family Guy are, the show you watch when you outgrew cartoons but are not ready for live action sitcoms yet.
Also ONLY GEEKS AND NERDS WATCH ANIME!!!! Normies will view you as a outcast if you watch it.
Yea, anime like Hamtaro and Mirmo, and only for it's human characters.
I give you points for Kirby Right Back At Ya, that one was great.
They stopped trying to make anime for normies after 2006 (when Hamtaro ended).
They watch very mainstream stuff like Bleach, Naruto, etc. Even more people have seen Hamtaro but for some reason I don't think they consider it anime.
Also: >watching Hamtaro for its human characters
homie you alright there? Nobody has ever done that.
>Millions of people watched Hamtaro strictly for the humans.
Who the hell watches an anime about talking hamsters just for the humans???!!? That's like watching Pokemon just for the generic human characters

It's funny how weebs think their waifu anime is considered normal in Japan when in reality the only mainstream stuff is the handful of shows in the high-viewership time slots. Everything else gets a small fraction of the audience at best. There is some shounen that gets that treatment, but yes, sazae-san, doraemon and shin-chan are the actual industry leaders.
Last one I watched was when people were hyping up one of the Christmas episodes as it was set in the future sometime around 2011 or so. It wasn't even that good.
One thing I loved with old Simpsons that got lost early are the subarcs of Bart and Lisa that maybe only got one or two episodes per season like El Barto and Bart dealing with his arch enemy Sideshow Bob or Lisa and her friendship with bleeding gums Murphy. I liked this because it showed that the characters had a life outside of the classic episodes and the school. It just felt very personal. I missed this in the newer episodes and I am not even talking about zombie Simpsons.
Does Bart even still do rebellious but not outright evil things when he's alone?
I mean I am sure that the newer seasons have at least one Sideshow Bob episode somewhere but I don't doubt that they fricked it up so I rather ignore it. I also don't necessarily need THIS in particular, just personal subplots in general.
No, the industry found out that when they do that IPs die out with no chance of recovery, as is the IP stops getting new content because it it.
TL;DR: Leave the lesbians to Paheal and Sad Panda, normies want everyone straight.
They made a couch gag in one of the future episodes where as they're getting older you see them going through different partners and one of Lisa's was a girl. But that was a blink and you'll miss it.
>ITT grow men nitpick a cartoon for kids and whine about continuity not making sense even though it hasn’t made sense for like over two decades at this point way before it became popular to hate the Simpsons
They are trying to make Simpsons relevant again.
Are millennials and zoomers still into Simpsons in this day and age?
You’d think they’d be into Family Guy Rick & Morty more.
her being 18 is a non-issue its the thing she never went to an actual fricking highschool, parents are rich, and her brother did all the work making her famous by producing the music. An actual average girl or guy who lived a normal life might not say some dumbshit like that
that's all true, but the only way we'll know is if she stops saying dumb shit or if she remains a big titty b***h, which, with her hitting the wall early she may actually double down.
So can any musicgays confirm if Lisa actually sounds good playing sax? Most of the time she sound like if the sax is off-key but they'll sprinkle episodes of people praising her sax skills.
>zombie simpsons getting Lisa wrong
Color me surprised... remember that episode of Lisa getting a restraining order against Bart, and only agreed to remove it if she could remember 3 good things he has done for her? And barely got 2?
Well, early Simpsons episode had this scene (starting at 2:00):
Remember when Homer went drinking instead of buying her reeds, then had the guy at the store list every instrument because he forgot what she even plays? Homer a shit
I think by around season 6 or 7 was when the first cracks in Lisa's character started showing. The line in Mother Simpson about never understanding how she fit in the family because she's so smart and thoughtful really stuck out to me.
That is kinda your fault for thinking that a 40 year old show has writers that still care about continuity, especially a funny cartoon show like the Simpsons.

>find out Hulk had a sick ass cartoon that I never got to watch
Last time I remember something like that happening to me was flipping channels one day in the afternoon and seeing the Mighty Max cartoon for the first time with somebody actually getting killed on a syndicated cartoon show. Blew my mind what that cartoon got away with at times.
we're only 10 years away from rap god being on an oldies station, right now they're playing no doubt and 50 cent
>50 cent
People have nostalgia for that mumble shit?
They don't, they do have nostalgia for Hirokazu Tanaka however.
We still have Koji Kondo and Jun Ishikawa however.
Tanaka still does music, but it's nothing like the stuff he did the 1980s.
>6' 240lb was comically obese in 92'
>Homer has accomplished more at 36 than 90% of millennials ever will in their lifetime simply by owning a home with two cars and three kids and being able to afford to go drinking after work
He also went to space too.
you've never been?
>104kg
To be honest it's still a lot, even the heavy people I know weigh maybe 85kg and Homer is fat but not landwhale-fat (save for that one episode).
American show.
>hair: none
Well, that's a fricking lie.
>I was the same height and weight as Homer before I started my weight loss
Never too late change, boys
The Simpsons died after Season 10. It's now on life support by incompetent millennial writers. Boomer & gen X writers were what gave the Simpsons soul.
Waiting for 90s teen Homer to go to Lollapalooza and see young adult Homer playing in Sadgasm while middle aged Homer gets a cannon ball shot into his stomach.
this is a very stupid idea because they still run older episodes
>zombie simpsons memory wiped Lisa’s character.
she acts more like a real kid in newer seasons. childish outbursts and tantrums, acting goofy and silly
according to modern Simpsons, Helen lovejoy used to be a man named Harold. This is how moronic the new episodes are.
Tell me you're joking
You could look it up on the wiki
Did they fricked up Skinner too? I always liked Skinner.
Just a shitpost, But the fact that I actually went to check the wikia shows how stupid the new series is, it has already done more than one retcon I would have never expected to happen.
https://simpsonswiki.com/wiki/LGBT_characters go to the section hinted to be transgender.
I didn't think about this since I lost my sense of time. But considering that a Bart from the 00s would be around 20 now is insane and makes this probable.
>tfw at some point Homer and Marge will be zoomers
>Cartman wanted his wii, sure
Did they retcon the Gamecube episode?
These aren't things that need to be addressed.
>they dont use proper school plots since Edna died
Geez, I guess the show died with her, in a way
It has had several deaths, the first was jerk ass Homer (season 6), then was vegan (season 7) Lisa, then Skinner, then was post season 9 (Skinner was in Season 9), then with Phil Hartman and trying to replace Troy with Gil (season 10), then was Mod (Season 10), then was Edna (season 11), then was Zombie Simpsons, then Apu (season 29), then "woke" Simpsons
>then was Edna (season 11)
>then was Zombie Simpsons
>then Apu (season 29)
Wait w-what
How long ago has her VA died?!
2013 so that should be season 25, and mod was season 11
More of a running joke
The wiki says it's bullshit.
I think your confusing Helen with her trans cousin, stanlerina
And israeli
We’re they trying to tell us about Michael Obama?
Even in the classic era it went both ways. Sometimes Homer supported her, sometimes he yelled at her to stop playing.
They massacred every character a long time ago. Even I liked the early Lisa but zombie simpsons even turned Bart to shit. I remember a scene where he pulled the plug when Homer was lying in an ICU bed. I closed the player that very moment and never looked back. They don't understand the Simpsons.
I wonder how many years it will take till they retcon the timeframe again and we see toddler Bart playing with smartphones and growing up with high-speed internet.
in about two years, max.
Doesn't Billie Eilish have a career thanks to her wealthy and influential father? Just saiyan
I love how that talentless c**t is getting shit on for her comment on men, even her fans are calling her out on it
Source? I want to laugh
NTA but here
https://pagesix.com/2023/11/15/entertainment/billie-eilish-called-tone-deaf-for-saying-men-arent-body-shamed-like-women/amp/
>Billie Eilish labeled as ‘tone deaf’ for saying men aren’t body-shamed like women
>Billie Eilish was labeled at “tone deaf” after she claimed men aren’t body shamed like women.
>Fans think Billie Eilish is the “Bad Guy” after some remarks in her latest interview.
>The singer caught flack after saying in her Variety cover story that men are not body-shamed like women.
>“Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies,” she claimed.
>Because girls are nice.
the people who bodyshame women are mostly other women
why bother complaining about the simpsons in 2023? what's the point?
I liked the simpsons at some point. it's like that uncle who was rad and cool when you were a kid but then became a shame for the family and just keeps getting worse every year, but he's still your uncle and you feel bad about what he has become.
Except it's not a member of your family. It's not a person.
It's just a cartoon that used to be good and isn't anymore.
It's been 20+ years, move on
Lisa's always been a self-absorbed brat, it's not at all out of character for her to just not appreciate Homer's support.
>If writers had to worry about adhering to canon from season one in season thirty nine, fricking nothing would get done. It would be a nightmare to write for
Then how was anime able to pull it off?
>That scene where Billie Eilish explained to Lisa that it's totally okay to suck your brother's wiener when you work with him and it's not weird at all
I know guest stars always have conditions before agreeing to be on but it really felt out of place.
The only people I know who watch anime are turbo normies. (I do not watch anime, btw.)
Also:
>watching Hamtaro for its human characters
homie you alright there? Nobody has ever done that.
Only geeks and nerds watch Bleach and Naruto and yes, Hamtaro and Mirmo are anime.
Millions of people watched Hamtaro strictly for the humans.
wrong, blacks love shonen anime, latams love DBZ, and everyone loves Inuyasha
Not only are you old, but you're also being replaced as a demographic.
Not true.
Keep telling yourself that while the anime-loving melanin-enriched ones multiply.
>Millions of people watched Hamtaro strictly for the humans.
Who the hell watches an anime about talking hamsters just for the humans???!!? That's like watching Pokemon just for the generic human characters
Normies over the age of 12 do, also you were not around when May was a thing in Pokemon (Gen 3).
>Only geeks and nerds watch Bleach and Naruto
No anon, normies do. It's turbo normie shit. Baby's first anime.
No, Anpanman is baby's first anime, normies watch Sazae-San and Chibi Maruko-Chan if they do watch anime, you're lucky if they watch Shin-Chan.
Only geeks and nerds watch Bleach and Naruto/Boruto.
>They watch very mainstream stuff like Bleach, Naruto, etc.
So they're casuals, no different than people who "love comics" but only read the Big 2
Not even that, those are just geeks, this is normie anime.
Thank you, someone FINALLY gets it..
You don't even care for hamtaro, you only have a weird obsession with his owner.
I do.
Make room in the stupid box for two
I haven't watched The Simpsons in 15 years and this actually hurt. I can't imagine enduring entire episodes, let alone full seasons, of this shit.
There was 1 good moment post movie.
Last one I watched was when people were hyping up one of the Christmas episodes as it was set in the future sometime around 2011 or so. It wasn't even that good.
Hrmm. Doesn't she see this every day when she picks it up?
>random person forgets the point of that flashback episode was to contrast how unsupportive he was of her music in the present
So does this mean their gonna make Lisa a lesbian?
No, the industry found out that when they do that IPs die out with no chance of recovery, as is the IP stops getting new content because it it.
TL;DR: Leave the lesbians to Paheal and Sad Panda, normies want everyone straight.
They made a couch gag in one of the future episodes where as they're getting older you see them going through different partners and one of Lisa's was a girl. But that was a blink and you'll miss it.
She wants to frick Lisa"s dad.
Hey I'm a tourist. Do people here actually watch new simpsons?
If so I'd just like to say: HOLY SHIT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
If not, disregard the above.
No, i don't think anyone here does, we just get mad at headlines and anonymous picture captions.
>ITT grow men nitpick a cartoon for kids and whine about continuity not making sense even though it hasn’t made sense for like over two decades at this point way before it became popular to hate the Simpsons
That still doesn’t make your show good, Matt.
Also shouldn’t you be retired by now?
since when is the simpsons a kids show?
They are trying to make Simpsons relevant again.
Are millennials and zoomers still into Simpsons in this day and age?
You’d think they’d be into Family Guy Rick & Morty more.
>that middle shoe
she is an idiot
Haha! I guess the girls who mocked me in hs for being an autistic fat gay nerd don't exist anymore
she's 18, they say stupid shit all the fricking time
her being 18 is a non-issue its the thing she never went to an actual fricking highschool, parents are rich, and her brother did all the work making her famous by producing the music. An actual average girl or guy who lived a normal life might not say some dumbshit like that
that's all true, but the only way we'll know is if she stops saying dumb shit or if she remains a big titty b***h, which, with her hitting the wall early she may actually double down.
She's almost 30
Meanwhile, the entire Harry Styles fanbase is clowning on him for getting a buzzcut.
>dad bod
https://files.catbox.moe/h2tuy3.jpg
she looks like she fricks black dudes
>girls are nice
>she says while attacking an entire sex
stupid lying b***h
I wish I had your optimism if you still cared about continuity after that grunge episode
Women have no loyalty and are constantly in the state of "what have you done for me lately". This is not news, and they think it makes them "strong".
So can any musicgays confirm if Lisa actually sounds good playing sax? Most of the time she sound like if the sax is off-key but they'll sprinkle episodes of people praising her sax skills.
People still watch the simpsons?
One would had thought keeping them in Disney+ would had killed the show already.
>zombie simpsons getting Lisa wrong
Color me surprised... remember that episode of Lisa getting a restraining order against Bart, and only agreed to remove it if she could remember 3 good things he has done for her? And barely got 2?
Well, early Simpsons episode had this scene (starting at 2:00):
?si=qGGzb66Dcw3SvfpN
Remember when Homer went drinking instead of buying her reeds, then had the guy at the store list every instrument because he forgot what she even plays? Homer a shit
I think by around season 6 or 7 was when the first cracks in Lisa's character started showing. The line in Mother Simpson about never understanding how she fit in the family because she's so smart and thoughtful really stuck out to me.
That is kinda your fault for thinking that a 40 year old show has writers that still care about continuity, especially a funny cartoon show like the Simpsons.
