I haven't seen it but I'm going to say it's a character study and not plot heavy. Dehurst isn't the kind of director that is going to take you by the hand, he's more of a visual poet.
Furthermore, AF Mortiz, the poet, did a re-write of the entire script, so you know this isn't Ernest Goes To Space.
The ending isn't as open-ended as I would have thought, but it leaves you wondering fr.
>make a movie about parental abandonment, searching for aliens, moon rover pirates and vicious space monkeys >it's the most boring shit I've ever seen
if you don't have daddy issues that need catharsis you have zero reason to continue
>1 hour into the marathon
do zoomies really call watching a movie "marathon", pause at the mid and come to Cinemaphile seeking validation of their choice or is it simply bots?
It's a dumb Cinemaphile meme and you two should probably lurk more.

Gosling is a boring actor and it would’ve made Ad Astra too forgettable. Brad Bitt elevates it to art status. Although the best casting would’ve been John David Washington.
just fricking enjoy the ride and visuals. I just don't get how people get bored with this. If you need shit happening constantly watch some tv slop. This is kino sci-fi set and production design
>We need to contemplate what's out there >MOON BUGGY PIRATES WITH ROCKET LAUNCHERS >are we really alone in the universe >ZERO G CHIMP FIGHT LETS GOOO >did my father go crazy? What did he learn? >ASTEROID BELT SURFING WOOHOO

Worth it for dadkino.
It looks great but it put me to sleep. It's boring, but in a good way, I guess. Tranquil.
Spacepirates and space baboon added excitment imo
Space Baboon is best Baboon
NO BUFFOONERY SHALL BE SANCTIONED.

its trash, and not even the entertaining kind
i turned it off at the monkey scene.
pure moronism
It would have been alright without this and the moon pirates
oh god, i forgot about the moon pirates.
It will only deteriorate
You don't 'marathon' a fricking movie, even shit ones like this.
It's a dumb Cinemaphile meme and you two should probably lurk more.
i just did it.
>Doesn't have the attention span to marathon a single film
Jesus fricking Christ, phones cooked your zoomer brain.

Casting Brad Pitt to play a stoic, emotionless charisma vacuum is absolutely baffling
You could tell the role was written for Gosling, but they couldn't land him.

>the best casting would’ve been John David Washington.
under no circumstances is this statement true, about anything
Seethe gigatardo. He does the brooding existentialist character perfectly. See Tenet and The Creator. Now cry about these films and the actor.
>See Tenet and The Creator
if you're not indian you have no excuse for liking that slop
You’ll never be European, Hansdeep Nigelwong. There’s no reason to seethe so much. It’ll never change your Asian status.
30 seconds into marathoning this thread, should I continue?
I watched this a month ago and I can't remember anything about it other than the moon buggy drive-by.
>Make a whole film about Neptune
>Don't even get the color right
Oof.
It was night time
its purely a vessel for cinematography
zero acting
almost zero story
incredibly pessimistic and nihilistic themes
random monkey action scene
For an adapatation of Heart of Darkness in space, you can do A LOT WORSE.
thing is the cinematography is mid, apart from the stuff around neptune. Most of it could have come from any given Nolan flick
Marathoned an episode of Roseanne yesterday.
I found it extremely boring. Honestly good to just fall asleep to. The few feels are not the snooze fest
just fricking enjoy the ride and visuals. I just don't get how people get bored with this. If you need shit happening constantly watch some tv slop. This is kino sci-fi set and production design
This movie is so tonally inconsistent
>We need to contemplate what's out there
>MOON BUGGY PIRATES WITH ROCKET LAUNCHERS
>are we really alone in the universe
>ZERO G CHIMP FIGHT LETS GOOO
>did my father go crazy? What did he learn?
>ASTEROID BELT SURFING WOOHOO
It's good if you have issues with your father
>Suddenly, out of nowhere, for no reason....MOO
N PIRATES!!11!1
