Agreed. Rewatching it now. Holds up surprisingly well, even Rust's fedora monologues. No cop show since has even gotten close to matching the "vibe" of this.
>Rust's fedora monologues
I enjoy these because Rust is believable depicted as a legit hardboiled psycho and the subject matter actually has some substance beyond superficially deep prattling
the part where he talks about staring at dead bodies and crime scene photos for ages and the peace of surrendering to death in your final moment was chilly
The only way they'll give you the green light is it's Troon Detective
>troon detective
I'm making the protagonist ambiguously trans so it'll fit in with the quota. It wasn't my intention, but it's actually working for the story rather than just including it for the sake of it.
it still can get cold at night in the south
rust dresses for a full day of detecting
he's probably going to have to interrogate scumbags at 1:30AM on a cold street corner or something
>sketch artist draws a cartoon face made of spaghetti with green ears >sure let's post this around town instead of firing him on the spot for being fricking moronic
>ten years old, Marty >they raped her with a thresher >right up in her cooter hole, Marty, how would you feel if they did that to Audrey? >I think of that a lot, Marty, I like to contemplate what would have happened to my daughter had she not been run over and spared me the sin of being a father >I can't think of anything more sinful of bearing a beautiful little girl to the world only for her to get deflowered in front of some pervert's camera >anyway, mind if I skate? I'm gonna go get drunk and question some hookers
Autopedophilia, worth ten years in the slammer. People won't look at you any less harshly, but it is ultimately harmless as long as you don't get consumed in it. If you get the first opportunity, you should love yourself.
Sorry for the blogpost. I was late to the larty with this show. I have been seeing the threads for many years, but never cared to watch it since I dislike cop shows. Finally gave it a go last year. It was really great. It surprised me, the actors were terrific.I was berating myself for waiting that long. Moved to S2 immediately and dropped it after 2 or 3 episodes, it's a completely different thing (by design I guess?).
>I was berating myself for waiting that long
don't worry anon me too. it's kino. and not Cinemaphile meme or shitpost kino but true kino deserved of 1% of the posts on this board
>Moved to S2 immediately and dropped it after 2 or 3 episodes
In the midst of being gangbanged by forces unseen, I figured you should drill a new orifice. Go on and frick yourself for a change.
S1 and S3 are very similar (split chronology, child abuse, lower stakes, redemption arcs)
S2 is different. Fully blackpilled, owes much more to James Ellroy.
Night Country is streaming crap that they just put the name on and made some extremely hamfisted references to S1
S2 was the best but it shouldn't have been called True Detective
Did people really have a problem with this scene? Rust went his whole life thinking his daughter was, at best, completely gone and not in an afterlife. But then he felt her love. No shit he's going to change his outlook on life.
Intellectually stunted people don’t really understand Rust going into the old spanish fort (and the season as a whole) were a katabasis, despite Childress spelling this out for the audience with the ‘You’re in Carcosa now’ voice-over. Rust goes into the underworld, slays the devil/dragon/chaos/whatever your favorite classic lit professor called it, and emerges into a new life as changed person who has conquered their flaws.
Blame all the goyslop that gets produced of totally static characters who never grow or develop their philosophies.
Still hasn't been topped.

Season 3 topped it with Sarah Gadon
sorry, chud. it has and will be again
I've started outlining my own pilot of a True Detective season and am going to send it to HBO and dethrone this frick. Wish me luck, /tv.
good luck anon. I hope you're a marginalized pansexual BIPOC. if you need help just ask ChatGPT

when it comes to crime shows s2 of TD and top of the lake easily top it. Top of the lake is easily the best crime show ever
Yeah and it shows, especially the writing.
Completely shits the bed at the halfway point.
The writers never leave airconditioned offices.
>S2 will be a decade old next year
S2,3,4 never existed
Why would you wear a corduroy blazer in Louisiana? You would be completely drenched on sweat. What a bullshit show
Well his name *is* Rust Cold, after all.
real men can store more heat
sweating a lot is a sign of moronic genetics
No that just means my built in cooling system is better than yours
it still can get cold at night in the south

Welcome to modern society where people wear multiple layers in thick heat because it's "formal."
It is the exact opposite IRL, you moron. Nobody layers anymore.
Literally saw my boss wearing a t-shirt with a polo overtop in the middle of July.
Remember Errol won and ascended to the infernal plane
time is a flat circle and he gets BTFO by Rust over and over
it's probably just as illegal and very, very weird
>time is a flat circle and he gets BTFO by Rust over and over
I clapped when I heard this line in Season 4
Nope "My ascension removes me from the disk and the loop." He broke out of eternal return and our 4 dimensional space.
schizobabble. you can't ascend from the disk
Another victim of the demiurge. Very sad!
Another victim of heretical israelites. Very sad!
And finally we arrive to Smiley Mcgee

Audrey may not have had to deal with a thresher but she did struggle with a train
Heh.
She wanted it and she was down to party.
is that Mr. C from Twin Peaks The Return?
it's him
How old were Audrey and the boys supposed to be?
a heckin video tape? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
it's been 10 years? how did it get this bad. just gave up. 10 years gone and nothing to show for it.
Is it pedophilia to: Fap to pictures of yourself as a kid?

I remember when I was 14 putting on my mother's clothes and underwear and looking up my skirt in the mirror while wanking.
10 years ago I was young
was literally posting on Cinemaphile as Daddario got her breasts and gash out
Bless Fuku for immortalizing her in that moment. Literally perfect.
Simmons >> Daddario
nah
I want you to frick me in the ass then mow your own lawn when you’re done.
>I want you to frick me in the ass
cringe
Why are you gay?
just use the pussy m8
AYO! Where da white women at?
"I'm not going to say it. I just want you to know I'm thinking it."

Season 3 is the best. It has Sarah Gadon
S2 is decent but don't expect it to kick like the original. It's a different style and too many characters, 2 of which are kinda boring

Chuds idolized him because of his nihilism but were too smooth-brained to realize that that was a character flaw.

Watched it after all the hype. Found it cheesy and predictable. Their accents were funny like I couldn’t take them serious kek
