They didn't like it. Videodrome was a flop, partly because it was WAY WAY WAY WAY ahead of it's time and the fact that the studio didn't know how the hell to market it.
Some critics liked it/realized what Croneberg was trying to say and between them hyping it up and the fact that the film had a blink and miss VHS release, created a cult around the film that made people want to see it since it was built up to be a huge thing.
yeah, bought that exact DVD a few months ago and watched it, it's silly low budget garbage and has not aged well... actually I don't see how it could have ever aged well and not been seen as cringy and outdated within just a couple years of its release, only good thing was Blondie's breasts for like 2 seconds (and I generally like most Cronenberg too)

Oh, but HEAVEN FRICKING FORBID James Woods voices a dissenting opinion or two lest he be tarred with the “brainwashing victim” brush.
Get a grip, dude.
Is he making some kind of statement with the clothes? Like he doesn’t give a frick about the red carpet etc.? Because it comes across as tasteless and cheap, not as I am too famous to care
oh nooooo
I don't understand how people liked it in the early 80s. I only relate to its messages because of the internet.

My favorite Cronenberg films are the ones with Sarah Gadon.
Moses Znaimer, Channel 79, baby blue movies. It is a documentary.
James Woods is a brainwashing victim. And plays one in the movie, too.
