>OH NO HE HECKIN' BURNED A MOVIE ONTO A DVD SEND IN THE ATF AND KILL HIM BEFORE HE TAKES ANOTHER STEP!!!!!
Just don't sell them to people and don't loudly proclaim you're doing it and you'll be fine. I doubt the police give two shits about this considering I've seen vendors selling pirated dvds before.
Check the countries with highest percent of piracy. Meanwhile lil Timmy gets social anxiety if his co-workers think he doesn't have israeliteflix. Lmfao
>worrying about the police >when society has collapsed to the point of money having no value and we've returned to the barter system
I'd point out that I have 10 TB worth of tv/movies, but it wouldn't matter, because if we've returned to barter, there's no electricity. Your gas generator will be stolen, your gas will expire after a year, and your solar panels will be stolen.
If we're bartering with our food, there's no luxuries left, and you're certainly not rich enough to hire the security necessary to have the remaining luxuries.
Enjoy your plastic coasters, because that's all they'll be.
What is this, the year 2010? No one uses the term DVDrip now, BluRay has been the go to for years, that or web. And who believes the police arrest anyone? What a chump.
extremely based if you aren't joking
how do you handle getting the wires to it though? doesn't that defeat the faraday cage's point if there are openings? i guess i don't actually know
They're right. The DVD release of any given movie is almost always the superior release in every way except resolution and fidelity, many Blu-ray releases are bogged and 4K even more bogged. With streaming and the advent of AI, films are going to be retroactively edited to remove "problematic" content and insert DEI. The getting is VERY good with DVDs right now. You should be amassing your collection while you can still buy joblots for pennies
this is my main concern too, including with music. For example, some of DMX's stuff is already edited on streaming platforms. Certain people have this weird drive for erasing and editing history.
that usually happens from keeping them in the basement, whenever i buy VHS at goodwill or thrifts i always gotta check for mold cuz a lot of them are from morons who kept them in the basement for the last 20 years
The case isn’t going to do shit. I’ve had countless disks gone bad after being left securely in their cases for a few years. Disks are trash, period. If you crack the copy protection and save it on external drives - great. But keeping it on disks? Permanent loss is inevitable.
>I’ve had countless disks gone bad after being left securely in their cases for a few years.
A few years? There's definitely something in your environment causing that. Maybe too much variation in temperature, sun damage or something else
Case alone may protect it for 20 or 30 years. But 60 years or more like these collector guys claim it will work out? No way. You need paper and plastic wrap them and put it on a dry place with as little temperature variation as possible.
>muh disc rot
When disc rot happens its as a result of poor handling during production and it affects entire batches discs, regardless of how the end user handles them or their age.
Tried to sell my 1800 dvd collection on Craigslist for $1200. Had it up for 4 months and not one person was interested. Pretty sure the dvd market is mostly dead.
There are no bots on Cinemaphile. There are only humans. I am a human. I make unique and interesting posts which stimulate fascinating and introspective dialogues like the original poster. Please allow your fears go be assuaged, fellow flesh suit.
lol he doesnt know one day we'll just get the chip implant in our brain that has every movie ever at the touch of out fingertips you can project into your mind and see an entire 2 hour movie in a split second!! wake up grandpa, your primitive floppy disc collections are gonna be in a landfill in 10 years!
Most streams are already compromised/edited version and it will only get worse. They will start editing all slurs and cigarettes out of old movies, or just delete entire scenes and sequences. They might even start putting AI shit in old movies who knows.
Physical media is always the most reliable and high-quality experience.
i have demolition man on dvd in the shitty cardboard case
it has taco bell like its supposed to
i recently watched it online someone was streaming it and they had the pizza hut version which i only ever saw on tv once back in the day
when everything goes digital they can change and cut out whatever the frick they want while ill still have my hardcopys of original proof
>no! no! I have my discs stored in a way that eliminates entropy, I PROMISE
when my PS1 discs started pinholing and my gameboy games had their internal batteries die, I learned that physical is temporary
And an SSD with data written to it, stored unused in the same way a DVD disc would be, can last basically indefinitely until the plastic itself starts to decay.

The CBS remake of The Stand was awful but I did like how one character was always searching houses for DVDs. However, when the director of the episode had the chance to name drop a classic flick he says some mid curve movie with The Rock. Fricking abhorrent.
or maybe I'll just kill them, take their DVDs
Always bring a piss bottle to a gun fight.

Still a crime if you dont own the og you cant have a digital copy.
The moment they want your ass in jail they will came for you.
oh? is that why piracy is dead? oh wait... lmao, poor moronic brown kid
Brown kids are the ones who are pirating. The ones getting panic attacks over torrents are the lil Timmys
shitskins like you only know how to play for goyflix lmao
Check the countries with highest percent of piracy. Meanwhile lil Timmy gets social anxiety if his co-workers think he doesn't have israeliteflix. Lmfao

I would simply make an RTG out of some uranium from the local nuclear power plant
What is this, the year 2010? No one uses the term DVDrip now, BluRay has been the go to for years, that or web. And who believes the police arrest anyone? What a chump.
>family is starving to death
>trade away the last of our rations for The Dark Knight Rises: Digital Deluxe Edition with restored deleted scenes
>ywn watch the deleted 30 min cut of the opening sequence
Why even live?
There's surviving and then there's living. Sure, you need food to survive, but you can't live without Batkino.
That's a big decision
it would be extremely distasteful
No thanks I'll stick to my 9tb harddrive
EMP wipes out every drive you have. Way do?
Join in with the mobs looting and pillaging
You get 7 rounds of .45 hollow points in your chest what do you do?
Become one of the zombies from resident evil.
I keep my NAS inside of a faraday cage for this exact reason.

Keep backups at a remote location
My town is not a target on the nuclear maps
my cheap ass 20-30 year old burned discs have out lasted as at least 5 hdds at this point.
same but 80tb @ raid6 locally + the same in a bunker in switzerland (backed up weekly)

OH MY SCIENCE
It will rot in its case idiot
I have a bunch of CDs from the early 80's and all of them are as good as new.
We dont all have:
a) 100% vacuum ventilated, basements made with elon musk wealth
b) enough time to tend to discs, I have like chores to do everyday
>CDs from the early 80's
Nta but I have CDs from the 80s. You do realize CD was on market like 81 or 82 right? Also the disc's feel thicker.
They were on the market sure, 82, but they were not even really useful until the 90s.
Do you have mini discs too...
where do you think you are? there are probably neckbeards with laserdiscs posting here
Be very careful now.
There are. 😉
cope
Just keep it in its case and dry
homie I got my hands full with chores and shit already, don’t need dvd babysitting duty on top of it.
Don't store your DVDs under 3 feet of water maybe
I have stockpiled food AND external drives full of kino.
bread is super cheap though
>bread is super cheap though
>Dude, that's like, ancient history, maaan

Should I get DVD boxsets instead of blu ray boxsets?
I feel for a show like sopranos it would be better, right? Woth all the grainy fusty image

It happens when either side gets too much power and is generally symptomatic of upcoming tyranny
No refunds.
just don't have a moldy house moron
Where else will I keep my pet mold?
that usually happens from keeping them in the basement, whenever i buy VHS at goodwill or thrifts i always gotta check for mold cuz a lot of them are from morons who kept them in the basement for the last 20 years
This doesn't happen if you, you know, put it back in the case when you're done.
Why is it that digital-only gays get visibly upset at the concept of physical media? It's actually really funny to witness.
The case isn’t going to do shit. I’ve had countless disks gone bad after being left securely in their cases for a few years. Disks are trash, period. If you crack the copy protection and save it on external drives - great. But keeping it on disks? Permanent loss is inevitable.
I have CD's from the 90's that still work. This sounds ds very much like a (You) problem.
>I’ve had countless disks gone bad after being left securely in their cases for a few years.
No you haven't Mr. Bullshitter.
>I’ve had countless disks gone bad after being left securely in their cases for a few years.

So , AOL cds aren't going to be the future currency anymore? I think I might have some.
mogged by my hard drive
>muh disc rot
When disc rot happens its as a result of poor handling during production and it affects entire batches discs, regardless of how the end user handles them or their age.
I only ever watch movies on shitty pirate sites
SOVL
They dont make dvd players anymore. Better hope yours has a lifetime warranty or you are going to have shit load of frisbees to play with
Tried to sell my 1800 dvd collection on Craigslist for $1200. Had it up for 4 months and not one person was interested. Pretty sure the dvd market is mostly dead.
you'd move it faster breaking it into chunks or selling the most valuable ones separately
Alterations to streaming have definitely made me buy more BluRays in the last couple of years than I ever have before.
>streaming
unacceptable problems, low quality, depends on internet connection, censorship etc..
one natural disaster
>It's another physical media hate thread
Same fricking threads and same replies every day, this place really is full of bots.
There are no bots on Cinemaphile. There are only humans. I am a human. I make unique and interesting posts which stimulate fascinating and introspective dialogues like the original poster. Please allow your fears go be assuaged, fellow flesh suit.
I love people like this because I 100% plan on becoming a raider if anything happens. No fricking way people who collect dvds can defend themselves.
You would get your ass BUCKED

it is such a sadness that you think you've seen a film on your Fricking brain chip implant
The israelites will use it to stream ads and interracial propaganda directly into your frontal cortex and there is nothing you can do about it
i hope im long dead before thats the future of watching shit
They'll barter bread for my rare pepes
>Who runs Bartertown?
The only place this line has ever been uttered was inside the head of the crazy israeli journalist who wrote this garbage article.

Or just download old rips. You don't need to fill your house with plastic
>They might even start putting AI shit in old movies who knows.
Maybe it's time for a more politically correct version of Song Of The South.

Electricity is pretty simple to make actually
t. electrical engineer
not for someone who thinks people will give him food in exchange for his dvds
I watch about 2 percent of the DVD's and Blu Rays that I own.
poop ppoop poop poop poop poop poop poop poop poop poop poop poop. stinky!
Unironically the best and most prescient post on this site right now.
Do they know those DVDs don't last forever
I am going to burn down my house with everything in it when I get too old to enjoy it so I don’t give a shit.
>no! no! I have my discs stored in a way that eliminates entropy, I PROMISE
when my PS1 discs started pinholing and my gameboy games had their internal batteries die, I learned that physical is temporary
they unironically do
DVDs will last way more than you cuck hard disks for sure.
SSDs last longer than both by far. They last basically forever if they're not accessed.
SSD are worst for data storage in comparison to old hd.
That's simply wrong. Technology advances. SSDs have a lower failure rate for longer than any other media in existence these days.
>A typical DVD disc has an estimated life expectancy of anywhere from 30 to 100 years when properly stored and handled.
That's straight from SONY, the king of media
And an SSD with data written to it, stored unused in the same way a DVD disc would be, can last basically indefinitely until the plastic itself starts to decay.
I've a lot of movie DVDs i bought back in the PS1 era ('90s) that work perfectly. Never had an hard disk that lasted 30 years.
>hard disk
We're talking about SSDs. And even more specifically, we're talking about SSDs used for long-term media storage, not drives you use in your every day computer and regularly access.

They have to be powered on intermittently though or the data will degrade regardless.

Won't be bartering for a spike lee dvd collection any time soon
