The blood vfx were 100% Adobe After Effects/Nuke sure, but did you seriously expect practical fx of a vampire turning into a cloud of bats

Agreed. I just wanted a Cage Dracula movie. He could have been the Christopher Lee of the modern age, plenty of cheesy but fun vampire films.

It was well over halfway through this movie before I realised that Awkwafina was supposed to be funny and that this was someones idea of "comedy".

She really isn't supposed to be, this was her playing the straight man to Hoult, which is very out of character for her, it felt strange. The movie's a comedy in premise, but I don't remember many jokes being in there. Her character shouldn't have been in it at all, but since it was they should've at least gotten an attractive love interest

For frick’s sake, it should have only been about Nic Cage and Nicholas Hoult. I don’t understand why the frick they decided to give us a cigar frog movie in disguise, she’s horrible in everything.
Either Cigar Frog is amazing at sucking dick ir she has an incredible agent because somehow she keeps being box office poison while still getting new roles.
She's exactly what the type of people who greenlight these productions like, just like Phoebe Waller Bridge. They assume that since they like her everyone else will even though nothing points to that.

Just ignore the "le corrupt cops" and the really bad mafia (though hilarious) sub plots, and stick with Hoult & Cage.
Cage doing a Batshit Lugosi was worth it.
Like others have said, it's a shame they didn't lean into just Hoult and Cage. The rest, other than the support group stuff, was a waste of time.
Though having Cage turn on Hoult and just fricking with him with the mafia could have worked better, the kid playing the son did a good job on delivery. Just wasn't enough for him to work with, since it was really a weak story.
I mean...different director, way better story...that could have been an absolute legit hit kicking of Cage as Dracula for a few movies.
Decent idea for a movie, but ruined. Holt was good. Cage was good, but if he had a bigger role he wouldn't have been. It was just the right amount.
Making the girl into robocop, who kills like 50 people, was insanely stupid. No one is going to give a frick about this character.
Kino
needed more Cage. the plot was dumb but I'd watch Cage hamming it up for 2 hours.
Worst part was, cage had so much range in the movie even with only 20 mins of screen time. Cigar frog ham it up more than cage. Cage emoted so much passion into a Dracula that was emotionally manipulative, charming, and intimidating.
It was good for the first minute or so when it was copying the 30's monster movie look. After that it soon became a solid 1/10. Terrible terrible movie.
what was the epilogue
This movie was the worst I've seen at the cinema in recent memory. The highlight of the movie was Cage phoning it in and he was only onscreen for 5 minutes, he probably filmed his scenes in 2 days and took his paycheck.
Awkwafina was the real lead and she was very bad. As a comedy, I barely even registered or realised they were actually attempting jokes half of the time.
It's clear the target audience is young women and the movie is supposed to be cute, quirky and relatable. Absolutely reeks of female writing
Nic as Drac is perfect.
Everything else is vomit worthy
