I mostly remember 13-Ghosts Daphne being the new Fred, meaning plain as white bread and completely devoid of character outside of being the straightman of the group.

Bro at this point the contrarian pick is the popular choice. For YEARS people have been saying they prefer Velma over Daphne and acting like that's the controversial choice. It's gone full circle. You're the contrarian if you choose Daphne at this point. It's the same thing with Princess Peach and Daisy. More people, or at least a vocal majority, claim to prefer Daisy as she's the sporty, tomboy (according to fan headcanons), making Peach the less popular choice.
