I agree with you, but the reason for pic related is because Tony's seen as a c**t in-universe who occasionally shows he has a heart of gold. While Batman even in his darkest moments is seen as a paragon by his fellow heroes.

These people hold the assumption that all villains accept bribes

He could still use his money to root out the corruption in the Gotham PD, fix Arkham up with better security and actual psychiatrists not Hugo Strange and Harley Quinn, and help the lower class get homes and jobs so the villains have less mooks because there's less crimes of necessity.

Oh piss off, he could do all that and still be a rich billionaire, everything I suggested would at MOST take up a tenth of his fortune.

No city on earth, listen to me right now because this is important, no city on earth is one billionaire donating money away from being a utopia. There are too many moving parts in life. Do you know how many billions every US city throws away every year? They should be paradise on earth by your logic

Except that's not what happens at all.
Governments SAY they're putting billions towards the cities but they're just pocketing what they can and giving the scraps to the hounds to fight over.
Nor do any real world billionaires actually donate their excessive wealth to any meaningful and direct change to circumvent the Political money laundering.

Okay, so if Bruce Wayne donates his money to the government, we should probably assume they’ll pocket what they can and give scraps to the citizens. Sounds like donating money isn’t a good solution, especially when Ras Al Ghul and the Scarecrow have poisoned the entire water supply and only Batman can stop their weapon from destroying the city

While Bruce is a billionaire spending his money to save Gotham, he's not the only financial powerhouse in the City. The Falcones, the Cobblepots, The League of Shadows, The Russian Mobsters when they want to pop up, and even the Court of Owls are also putting their money to tear Gotham down while the Wayne fortune is working to build it up

we've seen Batman do most of these things. Detective Comics 27 introduces Bruce as a philanthropist, even. But it can't have any tangible effect for the long term or else there'd be no story or need for an entire army of bat and bird themed vigilantes to patrol Gotham.

I blame The Dark Knight and Rises just turning Gotham into regular-ass Chicago and New York in the name of "muh realism". It just made the supervillains come off even more as just regular schizos instead of the "What if Dick Tracy gangsters had even more of a Universal Monsters flavor?" tone of the source material.

A movie that attempts to have a more serious tone will be held to more serious standards.

I thought Marvel stories and characters were "grounded and realistic, the world outside your window".

How come being "grounded and realistic" translates into "less serious"?

MCU is jokey-jokey to overcompensate for how giant green people, killer robots, and talking raccoons aren't very grounded or realistic.

    >14 years of MCU heroes killing people while telling jokes

its pretty dishonest to compare what occurs in the MCU and what occured in the snyder movies
there is almost no visual clarity to show superman is trying to take zod out of the city, and when he does finally try to stop zod from killing civilians in a very clear and consice manner to the audience, he follows it up with a neck snap
the impression it makes on the audience is with the destruction and spectacle first

compare to avengers 1, where cap takes time out to explain an evacuation plan to the cops
the presentation to the audience is pretty clear here
followed by a long lingering shot of the aliens getting ready to throw a grenade at a crowd of civilians, followed by cap fighting with him to get the grenade thrown elsewhere

so what the audience is seeing, there is a much greater weight and emphasis on cap directly showing him helping civilians and that his first priority is getting them safe
whereas a lot of how superman is preventing zod from destroying things is very easy to miss and not at all the focus of his shots

even iron man takes a good deal to show he exhausts non-lethal options first to protect civilians
there is a whole scene where his IFF system is marking out bad guys from civilians and then dispatching the bad guys with darts
they put a lot more effort into showing the heroes are preventing civilian harm

Different discussion. I’m not disagreeing with you, this is just a different discussion. This is about the “Batman is fascist he beats up the poor and mentally I’ll he should donate his money” discourse

Snyder hasn't been involved with DC in 5 years outside of his 75 hour long director's cut dude. The "Batman is a fascist" and "Superman is the end of humanity" discussion is a far broader discussion than just movies.
