FRICK OFF
Didn't mean to reply to myself. Meant to reply to you, sorry.
If you can believe it I am genuinely curious.
I've watched nearly all of the Universal Century timeline expecting the magnum opus of mecha storytelling. Instead I had to suffer through Zeta and ZZ.
I actually really liked War in the Pocket, but even that pales in comparison to the original Mobile Suit Gundam.
Why do people jerk off the UC timeline when 95% of Zeta is shit and ZZ is even worse?
idk man, the AU's might be more your speed.
cause only thing that matter are 0079 and a couple OVAs. everything else can be disregarded.
I haven't finished ZZ and honestly wasn't too gripped by that show. As for Zeta I think the overall momentum and structure of the story was worse compared to MSG.
The colors are also a lot less expressive and the fights aren't as memorable as MSG. This is because Zeta leans way more towards the "real robot" depiction of mecha that MSG established and I think as a result the battles end up feeling way too tactical and not like humans in armor like they were in MSG.
I found Victory Gundam to be an enjoyable watch though. It grabbed my attention way more than Zeta. It pretty much fixes everything I just mentioned and feels much closer to MSG in terms of action and storytelling.
The animation style is also far more appealing to me than Zeta's imo.
You may also wanna check out the AUs
>t. anno
>I haven't finished ZZ
Stopped reading right there.
>I've watched nearly all of the Universal Century timeline expecting the magnum opus of mecha storytelling.
Disagreed. 80's UC is the Magnum opus of mecha storytelling in human psychology. Nothing comes close. Not even the casual friendly middle level of psychology known as eva.
Have you considered not being a shit-sniffing contrarian loser? Zeta is objectively better than all of your favorite works of fiction and media by the way.
Am I on fricking crack? I really do not understand the love for Zeta. Everyone is constantly saying and doing nonsensical shit and I didn't feel a shred of emotion about any of the new cast.
Emma was kinda cool and that's it. Can someone at least verbalize what makes Zeta good?
No. Lurk moar.
You're too immature & mentally stunted to understand zeta's characters let alone why the series is great.
It's Quattro. Objectively Zeta is dogshit, they've tried to redo it and fix it twice for a reason, and those both failed as well for basically the same reason.
That reason is that the show is carried by two things
1. Quattro being fricking hilarious and fun to watch as he tard rangles Kamille while showing off how much of a shallow and empty frick Char actually is inside even when he's trying to not be.
2. Nostalgia.
Both attempts at "let's do Zeta again" had neither of those things properly, SEED Destiny fricked with Quattro's equivalent, while 00 S2 made a joke out of it entirely, and neither had like 20 years of nostalgia bubblewrapping them from criticism.
Captcha:AAAHA
>nostalgia
you are moronic. I watched it last year for the first time and loved it.
I doubt Zeta was even available in the US before early/mid 00's
>doesn't know about the booming pirate subs industry that formed relationships that ened bup being key to the formation of an unironic bedrock foundation to modern international cybercrime.
>only just watched zeta
You're right, in your case it's not nostalgia, it's you being a moronic newbie.
You think the reason is because of filmy non reasons only a child would come up with such as "nostalgia & Quattro", you underage dumbass.
>Objectively Zeta is dogshit,
No its not & you need to have a nice day now. None of the rest of your mouth breathing dribble is a compelling argument ether. Stupid.
1. Quattro is a shit character and nothing like Char in 0079
2. It's mostly zoomers on Twitter who pretend to like Zeta because they were told to. It's been fansubbed since the 80s but old anime circles hardly mentioned it because it wasn't good. There is no nostalgia.
>old anime circles
such as?
Everyone who watched anime on VHS in the 80s preferred shows like Dancouga. Even ZZ was more popular than Zeta
Source over your bizarre claims?
>Quattro is a shit character and nothing like Char in 0079
>irresponsible butthole driven by his whimsical emotions and hides behind a cool persona
???
>Goal posting just to shit on zeta
Hate is an irrational emotion to have.
FRICK YOU butthole
>0079 scripts by Tomino: 1
>Zeta scripts by Tomino: 22 (dialogue now sounds like it was written by someone with down syndrome)
Tomino destroyed the series with his own hubris, firing everyone who made 0079 good
>Yasuhiko: "During the original Mobile Suit Gundam, my relationship with Tomino was very positive and productive. After the success of the series though, Tomino shut out everybody else and acted as though he was the only person responsible for its success. So there was almost no communication between him and I after this, which made it very hard to work on Gundam. After all, if you have to work together, there needs to be communication. This changed with Gundam F91, as communication was reopened. However, I only worked on the character design for Gundam F91, as I had retired from animation at that point.”
Considering how shitty Origin was I wouldn't take anything Yas says about Gundam too seriously
Sounds like what happened with Kawamori and Macross
>Ishiguro too old and cranky to reign in Kawamori idol morony
>Itano distancing himself too
>Macross Seven happens, then the godawful Satelight shows that aren't even worth mentioning
Influential as they are, both Gundam and Macross only had their first series and some OVA as a good representation.
>moron repeats other people's opinions as facts because thinking is too hard
which 0079 ep did Tomino write?
Time, be still
>wrote one of the best episodes of the show
As expected of Tomino, the master
That's one of the best episodes in the show
>implying tomino didn't have the lion's share in the original
Tomino bringing in younger talent for Zeta was the best thing that could have happened to the franchise.
Yas is just salty and moronic.
>firing everyone who made 0079 good
>quote from Yas
gave me a good lol anon
Tomino brought in better staff with zeta & ideon than he ever did with 0079 . He made the right choice. Origin is proof yas don't understand shit about gundam's storytelling.
>Tomino destroyed the series with his own hubris
The man most responsible for the most successful anime franchise "destroyed" it? Hi the mauritanian sir!
Look at this high quality on-model drawing of Char. This is all Yas' doing.
You'll never see something like this in Zeta. It's very ugly and amateurish.
>comparing a high budget film to a year long tv show.
are you false-flagging, or are all yasgays this moronic?
>it's another thread where a zommer pretends to be a boomer to be with the cool kids
As far as the Tomino formula goes, I enjoyed Ideon and Dunbine better than 0079.
NEWTYPES
The other shows tried too hard to echo this show. Did Zeta need to have another Newtype chick fall in love and die tragically? They just ran out of original ideas quickly and started repeating stuff.
It's like poetry, it rhymes
It's funny cause there was a point with Four, kind of
>Four dies
>Amuro says how the cycle of pain repeats itself or something
>Rosamia dies
>crickets cause its the same shit AGAIN
I finished Zeta recently and was surprised at how much worse it was after seeing people online saying it was better than 0079. Other than the last 10 episodes it was boring as frick & even then it wasn't as satisfying by the end.
katz eating shit was pretty satisfying tbf
I watched the entire franchise, SD Gundam and compilations included, it's not even top 10 material, OP.
You now have to follow up with what you consider the be the top 10, don't leave things halfway done.
Not counting compilations: Seed Destiny, Victory, Build Divers, Trail Blazer, Seed, 00 season 2, X, 0083, Wing TV, and Thunderbolt season 2. Not even all of the 10/10s.
he’s right, post that top ten
damn all those terrible gundam shows did a number on him
can't even think straight anymore, poor guy.
Didn't go beyond the time
I like 0079, but c'mon there are definitely later works that are on its level or surpass it.
CCA, Turn A, 0080, X, Code Geass, 00.
>0080, X, Code Geass, 00
my honest opinion CCA, Turn A, 00, maybe SEED
>CCA
CCA is one of the best anime films of all time so yeah.
it's not even better than Angel's Egg
>muh angles leg
Go back vedditor.
It's far better than Angel's Egg.
That movie is so overrated, it's just a generic arthouse film with slow shots and somewhat cryptic imagery. It's not bad or terrible, but just extremely overrated and doesn't even have much depth to it.
It's very pretty though.
If you're going to choose a movie to compare to CCA at least use something on its level like Akira, Grave of the Fireflies or Totoro.
Pretty much this. Don't know why CCA filters so easily, mean while in japan its appreciated for the classic movie it is.
I easily think it is, Even the director himself that made angel's egg considers CCA one of the best anime films ever made.
Japan benefits from having more political context for the movie than westerners, and they're also much less critical of everything. That scene where Amuro talks to Char over the radio is one of the most renowned over there. Plus, not to discount its strengths, but it suffers from redundant exposition despite having around the whole first half of the plot missing and Beyond the Time unceremoniously fading out at the end of the credits gives the ending an inappropriately limp feeling.
benefits from having more political context for the movie than westerners
True, the idea of government guaranteed pensions and worrying about not paying out on them is more fantastical than the giant robots and space lasers to us mutts.
>more political context
Lol no.
What they have is access to the original story that ultimately got rewritten several times until the back half of it would be adapted into CCA.
You say this but it’s not like Hi-Streamer is THE MISSING PIECE of the plot or anything. The only key scene in those novels that isn’t in the movie is a bit where Amuro meets Char on Sweetwater and he does his whole ‘humanity is evil and must be punished!’ shtick which happens later in the movie anyway. Most of the characters introduced in the first volume just straight up disappear once Amuro boards the Ra Calium in Vol. 2 and then it just becomes CCA. Same with Beltorchika’s Children. A brief scene at the start that’s not in the movie and then it’s just CCA but with Beltorchika and the Nightingale
Frick off, CCA has a hell of a LOT more going on than angel's egg.
Im glad Zeta filtered doorknobs like the OP
When did you realize Zeta was a masterpiece?
When titans got introduced + soundtrack
Cinderella Four
I was enjoying it for most of the run but Haman shows up and literally leaves Char in tears that’s when I knew Tomino had done it again
Zeta Gundam is my favorite anime. Period. I love it so much. I just love the characters.
someone post the most recently updated version of the watch guide
Zeta is laughably bad. Even the animation is worse than 0079. You need low standards to enjoy it.
0079 had timeless storytelling while Zeta is cringe anime writing and characters that inspired the worst entries in the series
Filtered.
because most follow-ups have been exactly the same story retold.
The post-0079 shows are peak slop that zoomers only like ironically
You don't even know what any of those buzzwords mean.
shut the frick up you moronic mud pie. go back to your pound puppy fanfics.
