So i have been let down by alot of modern sci fi so i decided to watch some classics i have never seen before
what i expected
>kino space epic journey
>humanity venturing into the unknown
What i got
>20 minutes of ugly moronic shitty looking apes
>annoying music
>slow boring montage
>no memorable characters or lines
>every shot is 5 minutes too long because for some reason they feel so proud of their bland designs
>gay heavy breathing for 10 minutes when someone floats around in space
>le super computer who can do nothing wrong
I guess the visuals are nice for its time but god please get on with it! This whole movie feels like the fart sniffing snobs wet dream who think he is above everyone else. Is this so well regarded just because it is old? And when it comes when he got to Jupiter it felt like a long forced le DRUGS XD trip and it felt weird for the sake of being weird
Poopoo peepee
Here's your (You), now frick off
Anon, you can’t say that. It’s a “classic”
OP is right, like the only part of the movie worth watching is the 40 minutes or so with David and HAL on the ship, that's the only part of the film that could be considered a movie and not just a bunch of pointless nonsensical shots about monkeys and light shows stitched together to make "le high art"
>no quips
>no exposition
>visuals over narrative
yep, it's anti-zoomer kino
Yeah zoomers prefer watching Vines.
the sequel 2010 is a much more conventional sci-fi movie
>no memorable characters or lines
Now that's just dishonest
Most people who have never seen the film know HAL 9000, it's alluded to and parodied more than Casablanca or pretty much anything other than Star Wars and Indiana Jones
>I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that
That's a quote I'm sure has been in Family Guy, The Simpsons and pretty much every other animated show that has had more than 3 seasons
You admit you don't understand the movie in your own post and still want to call other people pseuds. The sheer enormity of the ego some autists here possess never ceases to amaze me.
Zoomers are so lost.
zoom-zooms literally worship a mini black obelisk in their pocket so the entire meaning is lost on them
Do zoomers even know IBM?
>HAL
>IBM
you gotta read the book to know what's going on
it would have been very hard to do proper special effects for what was described
SPOILER: Dave interacts with the black obelisk, the tool of an ancient alien race. They put their minds into robots, then discarded computers to become radiation-based life forms. One of them has made a space that a human could live in, to approach him and examine him. Having examined him, the living radiation takes him apart and remakes him into a radiation-baby.
In the book, the alien shows him some other life forms living in gas planets and stars, as well as an abandoned "spaceport" full of obelisks.
>you gotta read the book to know what's going on
frick off book tard
the last twenty pages would do
just pretend it's a Cinemaphile thread
How about I don't give a frick about the book, I'm just gonna keep watching the movie since it has all I want in it.
Take this trash to Cinemaphile
>erm erm erm you have to be a zoomer to dislike boring movies!
>go back to your marvel capeshits
People have said this to me alot recently first for hating dune and then for hating 2001 wth is going on with this board?? Cinemaphile is becoming more and more like reddit
Kids born after 1995 are known for being lower IQ and addicted to iPhones. Naturally we assume when someone says moronic shit that they're a zoomer.
Maybe everybody just comes to the same conclusion that you're dumb as frick, did that cross your mind?
You just have incredibly shit taste. Also OP has made this same thread like 20 times this week. We get it. You got filtered.
What's crazy is that 2001 is such a simple and straightforward movie if you actually pay attention.
i like this movie but yeah, the "no audio but breathing" sections can go get flogged for all i care, and the ape section at the start is completely useless and adds fricking nothing.
dark star is better anyway.
>it's another pleb that cannot realize he's a pleb
Just accept yourself already.
>no memorable characters or lines
See, this is how I know you are a moron. This film literally features one of the most memorable characters and lines of all time.
>HAL 9000
>I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave
This probably flew over your empty ADHD head while you were looking at your smartphone at the time the movie was on.
The movie is, paradoxically, spiritually humbling and inspiring. If this movie doesn't strike a certain awe into you, it might just be that you are of a lesser human spirit. Sneed
You'd probably like 2010 marginally more.
>yet another weak 2001 bait thread
*yawn*
I have never seen one
how's your first day here so far?
Barry Lyndon's better, but you're still a pleb.
Keep to your capeshit, anon.
You're not mentally prepared for anything else.
