I love them all, but OoT really captivated me and it's the only one I ever reread. the way it treats the subject of myth and legend is interesting, and the story feels a lot more grounded even though it's set in the same nonsense land as the rest
Rice Boy was a bit too whimsical, and Vattu was way too political. "Mythic" is the right term, and OoT *nailed* it. If I could do a film adaptation, that's the one I'd start with.
What were you expecting? It seems like each new comic he does is a different subgenre of fantasy in the same setting.

I enjoy the whimsy of Rice Boy, but Order of Tales is the only one I own a physical copy of. Although that decision was partially motivated by OoT's book-like aesthetic and b&w art. It just seemed like a natural choice to read on paper.
It was superb, though there was always the oddity of the fall before the finale. Koark survived the fall, as did everyone else except for apparently Aethirus as he never appears again. The Shadow Monument immediately afterwards is among my favorite parts though.
it's a rock solid confrontation. one thing I don't really understand is why koark throws his book away in the end. just frustrated he couldn't save bottle woman? because he starts another anyway, so the message isn't "stories hold you to the past" or something
REJOICE, ACOLYTES! XUNDÍTRIGGAR, LORD AND WIZARD* OF THE CRATER, HAS SPOKEN! EVERYTHING IS FINE AND I AM ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT HE MEANT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN!
>"Nosten nes seltaden" more literally "non-hereditary ruler and adjudicator" -ed
Looks cool
This.
bumping with the first page
every fricking time its furries
Why do you want to frick the big blue monster, anon?
bumpm
Looks cool.
Is Rice Boy any good?
Yes.
Thanks.
It's still probably my favourite of his comics, although the art is obviously the worst.
Rice Boy > 3rd Voice > Order of Tales > Vattu.
Order of Tales >>>>>>>> all
you can't beat Obilik and the Ascent of the Bone Ziggurat
Interesting.
Yeah, OoT was published while he was in college. Lots of angst and artsy fecundity, can't be re-created. Vattu ain't bad though

That looks neat.

What's wrong with Vattu? I enjoyed it when I was reading it
picked up
so is the 3rd voice good? Haven't started reading it, I'm waiting for a lot more pages so I can get properly immersed
You might start now then, it's over 350 pages in and just reached what must be the major climax of the first book.
