Let me elaborate: I thought the original explored the themes better and it was a little better executed. I also enjoyed the characters more. It was also more succinct.
Roy vs Luv are difficult villains to compare. One is in charge and the other is on the run. Roy definitely has a better and iconic conclusion to his arc but Luv is a sexo grill.

Whoever's idea it was for her to deliver that line with that "yoOOooOou" is a genius.

not like there's much competition lol, but she's the best henchwoman on film ye? the scene where the lights form a halo around goose's head and she realizes he was the true angel all along as she's dying is giga keeno
2049 does have some very amateur flaws that drag it out. Bladerunner is definitely a more tight movie but that took like 3 recuts over the years to get it right. Watch the theatrical cut and compare that to 2049 if you want it to be fair. 2049 could definitely use a recut.
All the cuts are similar, theatrical just adds narration and awful ending. To be honest, it does ruin the experience, but overall the film still looks and sounds much better than 2049.

you didn't like seeing Ford phone in yet another performance?
I turned this off after about 30 minutes. Utterly fricking atrocious movie. The director, cinematographer and set designers should never work again considering what this was a sequel to
What do you think? Tell me what you fricking think. Do you think I'm talking about the thing that I posted a picture of? Hmm I dunno anon that's a real brainbuster so I'll give you a second to work this one out.
What a cowardly response. Someone seriously needs to smack the frick out of you before it's too late to fix. Your dad should have done it but clearly he failed.
Yeah, but it doesn't really speak to me. I mean, I'm a 35 year old virgin, but I'm more of a volcel. The more universal themes about life and death from the original affected me much more strongly.
My 60 year old mom loves Bladerunner and keeps it a secret from my dad because he thinks it's gay. Don't worry about it. She might also have just had a crush on Harrison back then and flicked her bean to the rape scene so maybe I'm wrong.
I can't believe I almost bought the Limited Run Switch copy "just to have it physical". Buy it on GOG on sale or pirate it. Don't pay money for it anywhere else.
I still can't get over the fact that they ripped off Drive almost beat for beat in the last few parts of 2049. Would have been top 10 movie for me all time if it wasn't for that.
>white male being even slightly assertive towards a woman instead of getting cuckolded while giving money to onlyfans
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH RAPE SCENE RAPE SCENE
This is the one movie where "style over substance" absolutely applies. Boring fricking shite. Literally the only positive you can bring up about it that isn't something superficial like the music or set production is the antagonist. The sole character in the film who's half interesting.
2049 mogs it so fricking hard on the simple fact that it's actually engaging on an emotional level. We care for K, we want to see him succeed, and I don't think it's crazy to say most people can relate to him. The you look lonely scene became a huge meme for a reason.
Deckard is just an unlikable c**t who's horrible at his job.
basically the main reason the new one was inferior. most of the kinography of the original was the atmosphere and most of the atmosphere relied on the music.
I don't know, we'll see what people say about 2049 in 20 years and see which one is more highly regarded
I watched the original for the first time then shortly afterwards 2049. The original is definitely much better
Let me elaborate: I thought the original explored the themes better and it was a little better executed. I also enjoyed the characters more. It was also more succinct.
>also enjoyed the characters more
How? You enjoyed Deckard's character more than K?
Definitely. Goose was decent but Deckard was better. I also found Roy's arc very well done. 2049 was still good.

He looked like he came straight from his afternoon nap to the set. The only emotion he showed was in the last 2 minutes of the movie.
Are you kidding me? Nobody is going to give frick about Ryan Gosling memes 20 years from now.
I turned this off after about 30 minutes. Utterly fricking atrocious movie. The director, cinematographer and set designers should never work again considering what this was a sequel to
Do you mean the soundtrack?
What do you think? Tell me what you fricking think. Do you think I'm talking about the thing that I posted a picture of? Hmm I dunno anon that's a real brainbuster so I'll give you a second to work this one out.
Are you drunk? I asked a simple question. How could you life be so shitty that you pick fights over this? Don't answer.
What a cowardly response. Someone seriously needs to smack the frick out of you before it's too late to fix. Your dad should have done it but clearly he failed.
not him but you asked a really dumb question, mate.
This isn't reddit, you won't get an "eli5" response here, you will get roasted.
I do miss the genuine Cinemaphile vs Reddit drama with the soccer tournaments and all that before everything went to shit.
it was ok
I miss vangelis so fricking much
I really hate how 2049 doesn't have a single memorable tune that isn't just a remix of the original soundtrack, zimmer is such a fricking hack
I do remember the loud "bbbwwrraaaaooo" noises in 2049 but they definitely didn't really make any good actual music for it.
how is he to blame for that
cause he is the fricking composer?
ah yes that's how film soundtracks are made. they just pick a composer and say "uhh yeah just do whatever you want to do bro"
it is must coincidence then that zimmer barely has like 2 memorable scores while Vangelis, Williams and Golsmith have like 30 each
non-sequitur
kys brainlet
sorry can't hear you over the sound of the BWWWWWWWRRRRRRAAAAAANS and you sucking zimmer's wiener
sorry but this absolutely mogs anything from the original
You're fricking high causing shit for no reason. Go to bed.
Well he was the lead composer for the movie for one, dork.
because the guy that was meant to compose it committed suicide

Eh, I liked 2049, but frankly, it feels like a childish incel fantasy.
I prefer the original and Deckard.
look at the state of men today, modern sci-fi being all about incels is perfectly normal
Yeah, but it doesn't really speak to me. I mean, I'm a 35 year old virgin, but I'm more of a volcel. The more universal themes about life and death from the original affected me much more strongly.
how do i into vangelis bros?
>25 years later
I Still haven't been topped
>can’t watch this movie with women because of the rape scene
My 60 year old mom loves Bladerunner and keeps it a secret from my dad because he thinks it's gay. Don't worry about it. She might also have just had a crush on Harrison back then and flicked her bean to the rape scene so maybe I'm wrong.
>implying they wouldn't defend harrison in it
bait
It's boring.
I can't believe I almost bought the Limited Run Switch copy "just to have it physical". Buy it on GOG on sale or pirate it. Don't pay money for it anywhere else.
Yea, it's pretty ancient. I like the look of it though and it has some interesting scenes. Could use a modern remake
this is real wtf? I thought this was like that moronic ed edd and eddy meme on Cinemaphile
it's real, looks like the full playthrough is also on youtube
It's a cool game. Or just watch Civvie or Mandalore's reviews on it if you just want the gist. It got popular again because of them.
I still can't get over the fact that they ripped off Drive almost beat for beat in the last few parts of 2049. Would have been top 10 movie for me all time if it wasn't for that.
