Pick a short film. Watch it in breaks. By the halfway point you’ll be motivated.
Why are you not watching a movie with your wife, children, or friends?
Where do you think you are?
True, but the OP is complaining that he's a depressed loser. The natural thing to do is to not be a depressed loser by getting a wife, children, and friends.
no it isn't
OP: "Waaaaah! I'm so depressed!"
Me: "Well, you should get a wife, or least friends in order to not be depressed."
You: "What? No! That's crazy!"
????
nah rotting away consooming is making him depressed, exercise works wonders for depression changes the state you're in temporarily and you can use that as momentum to better your life. Put some actual goals in front of you so you have something to live for fulfillment feels better than the distraction of friends
lol no
You're... going to watch a movie by yourself? So, you're sitting there watching and talking out loud to youruself: "Haha! That was funny! Hmm... I wonder what the character meant by that?". Ok.
Yes. To all of that.
Get a wife, or at least some friends, loser. Good lord... even social rejects have friends, who are other social rejects.
No.
Ok, then enjoy depression. Don't come crying here when you want to deepthroat a shotgun.
Na, I still will
>social rejects
>have friends
do you have brain worms or something you fricking stupid shitstain
shame this phenomenon never seems to happen with making threads on Cinemaphile eh
>only 46
My watchlist has thousands of films kek. You could get through yours in 2 months without even watching something every day.
yeah but I have already dl'd all those 46 movies. but I'm just not interested enough in actually watching them.
>but I'm just not interested enough in actually watching them.
Then why were you interested enough to download them
usually because I see a screenshot or webm from the movie which looks cool, or I read the plot and it sounds interesting, or it's one of those iconic movies that everyone should watch etc.
Then why not watch them if you're interested
I don't know. I think I fear I won't like the movie and then I'll just have wasted 2 hours of my life. but then again, I wasted my life on posting on Cinemaphile.
see pic related. I omitted some because you'd laugh at me.
Nightcrawler is really good
wallstreet was alright
nightcrawler is fun
natural born killers was terrible and i regret watching it
midnight cowboy was cool
memento rules
goodfellas was my favorite movie at one point
casino was godawful
black rain had potential, it's still a nice looking movie, but wouldn't watch it again
>natural born killers was terrible and i regret watching it
Based. Such an overrated movie.
I think it's reputation is mostly terrible, which is a shame because it's the best movie of the 90s
Start with Five Easy Pieces or Mikey and Nicky, then go from there.
good news I'm going to make myself a private letterboxd list of your own watchlist and then both our watchlists are going to be the same, backlog buddy
want to grow your watchlist significantly? add everything from mine as well
I don't need shit from you
I just wanna be backlog bros with OP
I've already seen most of his anyway
the real answer is he's using "movies" to fill a void but the active hunt of tracking them down is more thrilling because sitting down and pressing play is just fast forwarding 2 hours of your miserable life without changing anything
I got 957 just sitting on my hard drives. I got another few hundred on my PC. If I'm lucky I'll watch 5% before the EMP event takes out all our kinos.
Oh my god you are so fricking pathetic. At least on Cinemaphile or Cinemaphile you can have real backlog threads because you have to apply yourself to play the games/read the books, but movies are like 2 hours a piece and one-and-done affairs. Pop it in, pay attention half the time, fricking put in the next one. It's not that goddamn hard I swear to christ.
Post the backlog allready, I need some inspiration. I'll watch one for you.
>watch 300+ movies one year
>watch 50 the next
>down to 9 this year
thanks letterboxd
>>no motivation to watch any of them
What can I do to fix this, its me. No meme.
small steps, the gay thing about setting small goals to lead to a bigger goal is that you actually have to act in ways you don't want to
Analysis paralysis (or paralysis by analysis) describes an individual or group process where overanalyzing or overthinking a situation can cause forward motion or decision-making to become "paralyzed", meaning that no solution or course of action is decided upon within a natural time frame. A situation may be deemed too complicated and a decision is never made, or made much too late, due to anxiety that a potentially larger problem may arise. A person may desire a perfect solution, but may fear making a decision that could result in error, while on the way to a better solution. Equally, a person may hold that a superior solution is a short step away, and stall in its endless pursuit, with no concept of diminishing returns. On the opposite end of the time spectrum is the phrase extinct by instinct, which is making a fatal decision based on hasty judgment or a gut reaction.
This is literally me, I'm thinking of ending things.
This was literally me, then I started doing things, I even have some friends, had a gf for a while, got some new hobbies and I still feel the same way.
i'm the opposite
Every Sunday morning I run a script that pics a movie from my backlog randomly and I watch it.
You are paralyzed by choice, remove it out of the equation.
hmm, interesting concept
Maybe you're depressed
>adult
>has a movie backlog
Get a fricking hobby and act like an actual adult, manchild.
>posted on Cinemaphile on a sunday
>he writes on a site made by a manchild for other manchildren
>on the Television & Film board he says to get over movies and television
Anon, I think your IQ is in the negative range.
/thread
the idea of a movie "backlog" is fricking moronic. you guys act like sitting in a chair and watching moving pictures is a hobby lol. no better than the homosexual zoomers watching streamers and playing fortnite.
what movies should i add to my Braplog?
Couldn't be me, I've run out of space on both of my 4tb external HDDs because of the number of movies I've watched.
how do you watch movies without fast forward shit is tedious
commit 10 minutes, no pausing, smoke your millennial device or chopstick popcorn
you can then pause and process and see if you feel okay with how the movie is
Backloggays are moronic, you think even 1% of people have read every book on their bookshelf? Get the frick out of here and quit depressing yourself. Christ almighty
Most moronic post i've read. Holy shit this board.
He's right dipshit. People buy things and don't always use them. You spend your time b***hing about it and not watching it like anybody on this earth gives a shit. Go frick yourself.
Most people don't buy boks to be decorations. Thats actual women behavior. I buy a book I fricking read it. Having a backlog of movie files to watch is not even remotely the same.
Nobody gives a shit homosexual.
Good for you but that doesn't mean anyone needs to feel bad about books they haven't gotten to or movies they downloaded or even just thought about seeing.
Also yeah most people who buy books buy more books than they read, BUCKO
But it is true. I've got a hefty fricking backlog of books I've yet to go through because the books I am reading right now are dry and require a lot of note-taking and re-reads just to properly understand them. I'll probably have to read my current books again after I go through my backlog yet again to refresh my memory. On top of that, I can only maintain my focus for 2 hours tops because I have other stuff to do throughout the day, so it's very much possible to not be able to finish your entire library.
Why? Do you really think everyone's read their entire library, or do you think beating yourself up over movies you haven't seen is important? Keep a list if you want but if you spend one second feeling about it you're moronic
>I fried my dopamine receptors time to whine incessantly on an internet forum instead of doing literally anything about it
Cry some more moron, yeah that'll help. Don't take any steps to improve your shitty life, just come toCinemaphile instead. homosexual.
It takes many hours, sometimes a full day for me to watch a movie that's about 2 hours. I can only watch for about 5 minutes before I need a break and must do something else.
you can just watch whatever there's no reason to make homework for yourself
exactly
You could watch my thing what I just made then: https://youtu.be/97Cpx1DKKAE
Even a zoomer should be able to handle 13 minutes, surely.
I've put it on, and you've got a great voice and presentation, but BOY do I not give a frick about or know what you're talking about. I'll give it a like too
Thanks? Maybe? 🙂
Posted a link in /trek/, who would understand it, but they're apparently too busy talking about this sort of thing...
Still, at least /trek/ isn't quite dead, which is something.
As a comedic riff on an episode or season of Star Trek, it's actually pretty great, it just takes too long to figure out what the frick you're talking about (from my layman perspective). Might I suggest a simple intro that lets viewers know its a video clowning on Star Trek, and perhaps a title that people who don't even know about Star Trek could get into. Also your avatar is practically a placeholder. Its a pain but it really ought to be a stupid face of some sort or something eye-catching
I say this because the work and presentation you've put into this deserves more hits than you've been getting. I believe in your project, I think there's a few simple tricks you can do to make it into a big channel
Thanks! Re an intro, I see your point, but it is kinda geared towards people who are already familiar with Trek (and Quantum Leap), plus I wanted to keep it pretty short and get to the jokes as quickly as possible. As for the avatar, I recently renamed the channel, so I deliberately kept it similar to the previous one. But you're right: I should move to something more distinctive. Same goes for the banner image. Not sure there's any way to become a big channel these days without constantly churning shit out (meaning there's no time to do anything properly), but a man can dream.
Maybe you want to do something else today
How did he grow a beard in a single frame?
This is my backlog. Someone cut it down for me so I don't have to watch everything
legend of drunken master
Stop asking around for important Japanese films you're not going to watch.
but i watch plenty of japanese and korean movies
>46 movies on my backlog
how?
>download movies, buy books
>every other day 'no internet' rule
>boredom will make you crave movies and books
>will watch/read with full attention and have a good time
yeesh what a waste of that rule
i watch moonlight on repeat
Delete your watchlist and stop watching whatever you feel like at the moment.
>maybe movies are just not for me
Probably not, they're certainly not for me. I can't think of a worse format to tell a story, movies combine the worst aspects of both short form and long form storytelling to bring the worst version of every story they tell. The 90-180 minute runtimes of most movies make them feel like a slog because you can't just put a movie down halfway through and pick it back up later like a book, or just watch one 30-60 minute episode and save the rest for later like a tv show because movies are designed to be viewed entirely in one sitting. You also can't tell a full story with a movie because in most cases 90-180 minutes simply isn't long enough to tell the full story without rushing through it or skipping out on a ton of details/background information. They don't even work for short stories because most short stories can be adapted to film with a runtime of <60 minutes. None of this is to say that there are no good movies, but in general tv shows and books are better than movies.
why are there so few depression threads nowadays
/LULZ/ is just literally trannies and coomers. i have nowhere to go to be a sad sack
Because we're all getting better, keep up man I don't want to lose a friend like you
