These are the ones I had on video as a kid. I like 'em, for how much the budget is straining at just a few shots of him climbing a wall. I never saw the wackier episodes like the clone one or the one where fights a mummy. Hammond did a good job and fricking deserves a Spider-Verse role before he dies, but we won't get it, just like we won't get real Supaidaman representation.
I watched the first three episodes.
1) Jonah is such a fair and adequate boss he should be called Perry White
2) why is Glory Grant called Rita? They have nice bantz tho
3) they are trying to make him a stud by having a girl hang off his arm, but that just means he can’t hold down long term relationship
4) too fricking bad about his entire character arc from comics and making him just a nice dude, but I guess if someone acts at 26 the same way Peter did at 15, it means it’s incurable
Still, I miss when Peter was allowed to be adult
It was alright, it was cool that the actor did most of his own stunts and was the one scaling buildings when the scenes popped up, though it’s painfully obvious the show was shot in LA not NYC. They never used his regular villains and JJJ was the ONLY other character from the comics to pop up, it was fine for what it was but they were smart to can this rather than canning hulk or Wonder Woman
>They never used his regular villains
There was that one story that felt like a janky attempt at adapting the original clone story with the Jackal as "Dr. Moon."
>it was fine for what it was but they were smart to can this rather than canning hulk or Wonder Woman
It really is strange that they couldn't come up with better plots, considering the comics spent a good chunk of history with him fighting suped up mobsters.
In hindsight, it's also amusing how the show wound up being more expensive compared to its contemporaries due to the wall crawling scenes when the plots themselves were so much simpler.
Oldgay here. It was OK for it's time and it may not have aged well but it's an amusing curiosity.
CONS:
-Only half of his origin, he's got no reason to be a crimefighter without Uncle Ben's death.
-Nobody takes Spider-Man seriously, even later in the series nobody's heard of him.
-No real threats, just spies and crooks.
PROS
-Hammond is likable and really seems to try to do right by the role. I still think he should have popped up in Spiderverse.
-I kind of liked how his spider sense was more like an ESP giving him visions.
-anon is correct..the theme is awesome.
Hammond was a great choice. He’s a “regular guy” but also believable as a high-iq scientist in training. He’s nice but not a pushover. He can acknowledge the ridiculousness of what he’s doing within the show yet isn’t the butt of the joke.
He’s gotten better with age — it’s great to see a Spider-Man portrayal completely devoid of modern cutesy heckin’ science Reddit autism and Whedonspeak.

I like the costume. It looks like something a smart guy on a shoestring budget could produce
That costume is the same one worn by Japanese Spider-Man, the guys Marvel hired for live appearances, and would have been used in the unmade Cannon movie. The suits were all made by the same company from the same pattern, I assume because silk screening webs on fabric was a huge pain in the ass and none of these production companies wanted the headache. It created a nice consistency though.

It's funny I always felt the US 70's Spidey costume looked more toku because of the eyes and belt than the actual toku suit.
It's like the 60s cartoon with them only bothering to understand that Peter has his own Daily Planet to start adventures from. With none of the appeal of the cartoon.

Fixed
I still feel like he has some of the usual JJJ characteristics, at least in the first two of these

With the best line ever created

That porno saxophone riff in the intro slaps.
Indeed

cute 70s women
I remember I rented a tape of it when I was little. But I don't remember too much of it.
Japanese was better
SPIDER-MAN NO DON'T DO IT

I prefer the Electric Company adaptation
Have not seen it yet

It's boring, the music great but the show just kinda boring, It is sad how dirty the show treated for no reason
>it's a peter retires and has moderate success in the motion picture industry episode
It's pretty good. Shame it got canned.
There's an autist who got hold of the film reels for the pilot episode and has been single handedly cleaning up and restoring it for a few years now
Cool
looks like a lot of work
I didn’t know this, thank you for sharing.
The show was crack cocaine to me as a kid.
Its meh
I've watched a 70's Spider-Man. And it's good.
Was meh
Loved it
