Proof. Receipt as in "Look, I bought it, it was at this time it cost this much it was at the store at this address." If you have the receipts you have proof of your claims.

I understood the meaning but it still makes no sense in the headline. The headline says he called her "bud". There's nothing denied, nothing contested and thus no need for proof.

It would make sense if, "but then they came with receipts," meant that people came with receipts saying he calls everyone Bud and it's not a big deal at all, and that Hunter also never thought there was any malice behind it. Is that what the article says?

Don't worry, I checked the article for you. That is what they were saying.

"Bud" is short for "buddy," meaning "friend."

100%. The things I believe to be true that I am certain about (the sun will rise tomorrow morning, the sun is the center of our solar system, 2+2=4, there are 50 states in the United States) I just take for granted. I wouldn't, for example:
        >launch a social media campaign to get someone fired from their factory job for saying "the earth is the center of the solar system"
        >send death threats and threaten to murder and rape the family of someone who told their boss "there are 25 states in the US"
        >dedicate all of my waking hours and effort into "advocating" for 2+2 being equal to 4 and "stopping disinformation and mathphobes"
They know damn well it isn't actually "simple biology" like they claim it is. They know it's not true that "the science is settled." They know that their shallow appeals to "nature" and litany of talking points aren't legitimate. That's why they spend all day doing this. That's why they're so fricking loud about it. It's an extremely elaborate example of the emperor being naked and even INSINUATING that he isn't wearing all his clothes is enough to get you ostracized from society.

Drag is a queer subculture of performative art, it doesn't fricking matter if you were born with a vegana or if you take hormones and have breast implants or if you're just a homosexual.
Pic related is a cisgender woman, part of the lgbt community(lesbian), dressed up in an outlandish costume, doing a performance at a queer space just like a male drag queen would, not dressed up as a man(so not a drag king). Of course she's still a drag queen.

      >Hurr because you have XX chromossomes it completely invalidates everything that you're doing even though you're doing the exact same male queens do.

Yes. It invalidates the entire message, which is men rejecting hypermasculinity by being hyperfeminine. What sort of rebellion or empowerment does a female get by rejecting hypermasculinity? She should be a drag king to send the same message, otherwise she's just treading on ground she doesn't belong on. I thought you were the resident thread expert.

The subversive aspect can have more impact if you're male but there's more to drag than that. If you're dressed up outrageously performing at a queer bar as part of the community and you're lip syncing/doing comedy/acting/etc you're still doing drag. People are still gonna cheer(or boo) you and judge how good you're lip syncing or how crusty your wigs are or how sickening your makeup looks, etc, regardless of your sex or gender identity.

God I wish I could find the interview, but Ru once -on a radio show I believe- cackled at a trans person who became a cast member on his Race show. He was like, "Now tell me how you're gonna be a woman on a drag queen show? A drag queen is a man dressed as a woman. You're just getting dressed." Or something along those lines. He was laughing pretty hard.

Women don't dress like drag queens. Have you ever seen a woman? It's a rejection of hypermasculinity by being hyperfeminine as a man. It'd be minstrel if they were, say, Chris-Chan.

          >have you seen black people dress and act like they do in minstrel shows
Actually yeah. Black actors did act like that in order to get acting gigs, just less mocking. Drag isn't mocking women, it's mocking men trying to be hypermasculine. That's the literal design and intention.

but you say they acted like it only to get roles, not in real life, so black-face is making fun of a bad representation
drag was started by taking beautiful actresses and exagerating their features to the point of parody, how are they adressing "hyper-masculinity", whatever that is, by acting like a neurotic woman

                Anonymous

No, blackface in America specifically, idk about your weird gay little Euro countries, was literally created to mock black people/black actors. It's literally just stereotype after stereotype. Drag on the other hand doesn't seek to look like normal women, doesn't seek seek to act like normal women, doesn't seek to mock any women. Also, Ru on drag:
                >When asked if he would let a transwoman who'd completed her transition compete on RuPaul's Drag Race, Ru replied: "Probably not. You can identify as a woman and say you're transitioning, but it changes once you start changing your body. It takes on a different thing; it changes the whole concept of what we're doing. We've had some girls who've had some injections in the face and maybe a little bit in the butt here and there, but they haven't transitioned."
                >"Women don't really dress like [drag queens]. We are wearing clothes that are hyperfeminine, that represent our culture's synthetic idea of femininity…. Drag loses its sense of danger and its sense of irony once it's not men doing it, because at its core it's a social statement and a big f-you to male-dominated culture. So for men to do it, it's really punk rock, because it's a real rejection of masculinity."

he changed the lyrics to his theme song for the show.. it used to be 'may the best woman win' and now it's 'may the best drag queen' win. and the winner of last season was a troony

the show is basically unwatchable now with all the political b***hing and how each season the cast becomes blacker and fatter and uglier

what do we get when rejecting masculinity anon, gender neutrality? how is a rejection of masculinity not a representation of femininity? Rupaul not wanting something that is closer to a woman, atleast in it's delusional mind, on his show, only proves the misogyny

                Anonymous

                >how is a rejection of masculinity not a representation of femininity?
Women don't dress like drag queens. There's a reason they tend to dress up as bigger than life figures who are extreme examples of men/women (whether kings/queens) that existed and were one of a kind, or utilize very obscure designs for clothing. It's a rejection of *hyper*masculinity, not just masculinity. If that were the case, Ru would be trans instead of being called transphobic all the time. Ru is a man, and prefers to be referred to as such out of costume, when he's not playing his character. So not trans, and holds onto enough masculinity that he's comfortable with, of course unless in costume when he gets to act like a ridiculous character that doesn't exist or represent a single woman you or I know.

Sounds to me like you're just saying there are two drag crowds, ones who don't care about the core message and like the fun of it, and those who also like the fun of it but take the core message seriously.

it is not a depiction of reality, moron, but a parody, do black people have sausage lips and act like they are in a mistrel show
                >It's a rejection of *hyper*masculinity, not just masculinity.
then why are they not acting gender neutral, but depicting women
why do i care what someone says, that is irrelevant, what matters is their actions, and his actions are depictong gross parodies of the female form

You’re saying it isn’t minstrel-y because they don’t look like real women. But minstrel doesn’t look like real black people. You’re trying to disprove the comparison by describing how accurate the comparison is.

No, you're not understanding me, so there's a miscommunication or you're being bad faith. I'll try my best. If my best does not work, you're not acting in good faith: A drag queen is a form of expression that takes unrealistic hyperfemininity, as in not stereotypes but a boiled downversion of what femininity is treated as. Women and men both have feminine and masculine traits -- this is just fact. Whether physical or or mental, we all have at least one trait in both areas. It's human and it's fine. You should want both so you can understand more people anyway. There are a lot of interesting people out there to meet. However, when a society at large or even just partially emphasises a man or woman being a "real man" or a "real woman" and it's unrealistic or stifling to a culture, it becomes a proper target to be made fun of. Mexico or, like RuPaul grew up in, the black community, both have cultures that revolve around hypermasculinity. More than say redpill even in some aspects. So they reject it by dressing as hyperfeminine as they can. Not as a mockery of women, as the most hyper version of what society deems "feminine." It's not an attack on character, it's taking back individuality by denying where society's trying to box them into.
                >reddit space
Minstrel shows take society's view of black people and *embolden* them. It says, "Hahah, look at how good this white guy we like is at pretending to be a jigaboo. They're just like that hahah." Now of course black people aren't like that, but black actors had to be, and on top of that it was how the public viewed black people. It would be like a drag queen going on stage and pretending that this is how all or most women are. They're not even close.

Drag shows take misogynist's view of women and *embolden* them. It says, "Hahah, look at how good this guy we like is at pretending to be a femoid. They're just like that hahah." Now of course that is not what women are like, but actresses had to take those roles to get work and on top of that it was how the misogynist gay mafia viewed women. Drag queen going on stage and pretending that this is how all or most women are. They're so close so mistral shows.

Bad faith. Fricking guy man. No, nobody says that that's how women are, they just point at the screen and call them gays and change the channel.

Then you're double bad faith, as drag is an art form with notable straight drag queens. Daniel Truitt (Maddy Morphosis) is one such person. In fact many assume around 1/5th of drag queens are actually just straight guys who enjoy it.

Everything you just said whether you’re right or wrong is israeli gobbledyasiatic sludge that doesn’t even mean anything.

I didn't bring up stats, I brought up speculation from people who are going off of their own anecdotes and there's no proof for it, hence "assume".

Except the anecdotes come from people who are in or attend drag shows. You're just a dick who doesn't understand drag in the first place. So your assumptions are worthless to me.
