Take this all with a grain of salt - There's some big plans going down at Lucasfilm at the moment. This idea has always been on the table, but the reception to Kenobi has generated more interest from the higher-ups. Long story short - they're going to remake A New Hope. Now they're not going to call it a remake as such, more a "recreation", "revisit" or "tribute" (much like a tribute band). Obi Wan will be played by Ewan McGregor, Han by Alden Ehrenreich and Tom Holland eyed to possibly play Luke Skywalker. C3PO will be played by Anthony Daniels again and Darth Vader will voiced by James Earl Jones re-doing his original lines with Hayden Christensen portraying him in scenes where he's not in the suit (like in Kenobi).Carrie Fischer's estate have given permission for her likeness to be used as a CGI de-aged Leia. Other changes will include scenes with the Emperor, more continuity nods to the prequels and sequels, bigger action scenes and possibly the inquisitors. Like I said, this won't be advertised as a remake with the intention that it's a one and done thing. That being said, it's very likely the rest of the original trilogy will follow depending on the reception to this.

For example, the ST pretends that ROTJ simply never happened for the characters and the overall conflict, except for some variation of the throne room scene.
