The scariest part of this fricking movie is that girl's face and the 70's aesthetic.

I think she’s real cute but she has the face of a frog during that one scene.

This was literally the thought process of King when he wrote this

How big of a coke fiend was he when he wrote Carrie?
I know he was deep into it in the Cujo/It days

King was stoned as a goat on cocaine when he wrote this, his thought process was probably how much cocaine he could sniff if he could cut out the middle man and just have it levitate to his nose.

Fricking funny when you put it that way.

Wasnt he super assmad about nearly being ran over by a pick up truck he would always write hillbilly characters who drove that exact same model for years after?

I'm not up on that King lore but I wouldn't put it past him.

He actually was struck by the vehicle, which iirc broke his pelvis and/or leg. You would be assmad too. He was in rehab for months.
Apparently someone figured out who the driver was and King fans tormented that poor prick. Eventually King managed to buy the truck, which he personally beat the shit out of with a baseball bat or something.
In the final Dark Tower novel, he appears in the novel, at the time of the accident. The characters in the novel meet him, learn he's the one writing their "story", and one of the characters sacrifices themselves to save him. In this telling, he would have been fatally wounded by the truck if the character had not pushed him out of the way.
King is one crazy frick but I think he's a pretty cool guy.

              >Apparently someone figured out who the driver was and King fans tormented that poor prick
It was probably some random guy that had nothing to do with it and his deranged smoothbrain fans harassed an innocent man because their rich pervert cokehead schlockdaddy couldn't get over an accident for decades after it happened

That shit about inserting himself into his own book and having a character sacrifice themself for him sounds ridiculously condescending.

King was building on Heinlein's idea of "World-as-myth", that is, that the act of writing a story makes it real. The more people that know the story, the stronger and more detailed the characters in it become, as they are fleshed out by the collective imaginations of all the readers.
As the author, King was the world-builder and essential to Roland Deschain's quest to reach the Dark Tower. In order to ensure the quest is successful, the characters make safeguarding his life a priority over their own.

i was a teen in the mid 80s and people used to give people shit for being depressed, having sex, not having sex, wearing sunscreen, drinking, not drinking. kids were kinda moronic and kind of a hypocrites kinda just like now.

I've never understood the whole deal with periods being taboo or shameful. So many terrible female behaviors have been normalized and accepted without much blowback, so I don't get why discussing something normal and involuntary like a period has become a hot button issue.

She was made fun of for not knowing what it was and not using a tampon and for getting her nasty ass discharge all over the public showers. Imagine if some teen dude just nutted all over the public showers and started screaming that ice cream was coming out of his dick.

I didn't go the prom. I didn't even have a senior year. I got my GED after my junior HS year. I hated every moment of HS and didn't want to endure another year of shit.

Probably Carrie or Chris. PJ Soles’ character was also pretty cute iirc
