Aaron Taylor-Johnson

>Some reports had suggested that Taylor-Johnson had a secret screen test with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli at Pinewood studios last November, and it went so well that an announcement of his casting was supposed to be in the works for this summer.

100% considering who his wife is but AT LEAST he can pass as Bond. Craig was the mother of all miscasts and too much time was wasted on him.

      Yeah we know this
His Bond audition film was his part in Tenet I guess, not sure what kind of character he played in Bullet Train
He's also married to that milf producer so he gets the advantage of nepotism
He would do fine, assuming he's not too short

I don't have a problem with him, he has a good body and screen presence plus even with being israeli, he still looks very good. He looked really good in a suit in BT and had a cool presence in Tenet. I'd take him.

Robert Pattinson is a sharp modern Bond who we haven't seen before. He can infiltrate street and organized crime circles, and Batman proved the action and physicality part. He also has the dissociated coldness Bond needs. The world skews younger, people generally look younger now and brandish it. If they're going contemporary he's the best, although not giving Nolan carte blanche for a 60s Bond is terminally ill

Definitely. Tenet was a bomb because they picked some lame FoTM black guy over him as the lead. It would have done way better. He looks very good for Bond and it's a shame he succumbed to the lowest form of cinema, capeshit. I hope they cancel it after even the MCU bombed and they get him for Bond.

Bond films are unironically the highest caliber an actor can reach. More people have walked on the moon than played this part. Gay indie movies no one watches but you don't come close.

It doesn't matter. What is 'good acting'? Being fricked up the ass and moaning? That's what gays like you seem to think it to be. Bond is EASILY the biggest role an actor can get, no question. If you play him, you reach a level of cultural canon unlike anything else. They are actually great actors because they entertain and make a huge impression and that's what all media should be like. Escapist entertainment that gives people 2 hours of fun, not gay self reflection shit no one really cares about. It's the shift to the latter that is making people apathetic to entertainment professionals and embracing the prospect of AI.

Bond is a role that takes over your acting career, they're not going to give it to someone who's already in a franchise as a famous movie character like Batman.

True but things have changed, the movie industry is in a completely different shape from the last time a Bond actor was searched in 06. There's only a few handful of stars that people are willing to give money to and franchises are failing, even down to Marvel. They need a Cavill to buy up goodwill considering Craig's era has made Bond less popular than ever before. A Bond movie with Cavill and a more fun tone would do gangbusters at the box office. There's been about 20 capeshit movies between Spectre and NTTD. Bond can have the biggest comeback ala GoldenEye if they get someone the current picky audience knows and reveres like Cavill or Pattinson. Former is more likely though.

I disagree, he was extremely charismatic and watchable in UNCLE and the fact they changed the original character of Solo to be like Bond just because Henry was so good at it shows he can hack it. Matthew Vaughn even says he's born to do it. Is he Connery/Brosnan tier? Of course not, let's not be silly. For today's standards? He's the BEST there is. No one else can do it and not be a meme. Craig got a pass because he got pushed by media and EON and audiences were more forgiving but now anyone but a name as recognizable as Cavill would make everyone bored to tears with the franchise.

                Anonymous

nta, but you make a convincing argument. The only problem is that Cavill may simply be too old and expensive for the producers to commit to a multi-picture deal. Especially since NTTD came out during a pandemic and the future of movies is uncertain. I would go for a more prestige approach with Bond and start hiring more auteur directors to a single maybe two picture deal. But either way, it would be at least a 5 year sacrifice, which a lot of actors are unable to make.

                >too old
Not at all. He's 40 now which is the sweet spot for Bond if you're doing him accurately. He may age out fast but still stunts and tech has evolved so much, it won't be so bothersome. Come on, tell me that guy doesn't look a day over 32.
                >too expensive
Perhaps and his experience with capeshit may have soured him but Bond is Bond, only a fricking clinically moron person wouldn't seriously consider the role. I feel like it's the only way to get the franchise back on track. Just do one movie at a time ala Dalton style. Period piece could be cool but modern day with the correct writing and un-woke shit, it would make 2 billion easy. Bond has survived for 60 years, capeshit dying right now is the perfect opportunity to bring back Bondmania like the 60's and late 90's.

This is probably the biggest stumbling block that they're on now, and it's the script. If they are paying any attention at all to the fall of capeshit they should be re-evaluating what it is that Bond can offer to audiences that they want to see. As a power fantasy, this is the ultimate opportunity to showcase a more liberated and in control Bond. The problem is of course politics, the world presents an opportunity to return Bond to a geopolitical cold war conflict, but it could upset woke liberals, the Chinese market, advertisers, etc. I have no doubt this is what they're doing right now.

Bond is the perfect movie franchise for simple reasons. It can get ridiculous but it's far more dignified to go and see than capeshit which only manchildren and apathetic children consume. Bond has the real world geopolitics but made for escapism through a heightened reality and plot, has the power fantasy MC meeting beautiful women, going on adventures, saving the world, meeting interesting villains and sidekicks and the episodic nature (pre-Craig) made them perfect to watch after 1-2 years of release without worrying about missing out on plot. You see how much zoomers cling to masculine false idols (Bateman, Tate)? Well, imagine if they brought back a halfway masculine Bond back? The original male idol and the best. It would send shockwaves through the culture of this generation and reintroduce them to the REAL Bond, not the gay sappy frick Craig was. You'd have insane hype ala Barbie (but for men) and it'd be so old-school that it would be viewed as fricking revolutionary for the time. The Brosnan approach will work wonders in today's times. A perfect blend of drama and action, realism and campiness. Who the frick knows if this will happen but something's gotta give.

Imagine someone like Johnny Depp’s soul in Henry Cavill’s body. Such kino could be made.
Henry isn’t bad. But he is missing that spark.
He’s eye candy but his performances don’t elevate any work he’s in. He’s more of a placeholder.
He doesn’t detract from any movie he’s in though. He’s just more bland.

You're not wrong, he has the chad look but lest we forget he was the fat kid at school in his youth. That will always stick in a person but UNCLE was a very adequate Bond audition and he looks like he hasn't aged a day since. He could do it. ATJ could be good if they deepen his voice with juice and somehow make him less boyish but Cavill is the man for the job.

Seems less gay then Craig too so slight improvement there. Best choice though? Definitely not but at least the franchise isn’t completely dead.

If the Bond Franchise can outlast all this woke leftist nonsense maybe we’ll eventually get a based Bond film again?

I like the guy. He's young (33), has a good body and a very good face and can act and his voice was good in Tenet when he forced it a bit. Bond has survived for 60 fricking years man not even this era can kill it, it will come back for sure in a massive way like back in the day with GoldenEye. Who's the best actor for the role in your mind? They need to go back to Brosnan era tone and style, where both modernity and classic Bond was molded together perfectly.

God I wish euphoria never existed.

He proved it more in Tenet by showing how deep his voice can get, perfect for Bond. He's the best we're gonna get as Cavill is ruled out due to age and having other projects. Just make the guy cool again with cute and hot girls and it's easiest money they ever made. Kick-ass is one of my most favourite movies so he gets extra points from me.
