A hilarious comedy, do NOT take this as a serious film. If you don't laugh in the first 5 minutes at least 5 times it's not for you.
An overrated condensed form of an already fictitious autobiography of a drugged out hypocrite. Expect some guy talking about how the American dream is dead, baby boomers killed it (although that is not entirely false) and all the while he is not doing anything different.

I just watched Scorsese's Bringing Out the Dead - it's so very similar to Fear and Loathing or Natural Born Killers. Love when Scorsese does something out of his comfort zone.

Go for it. Then follow it up with A Scanner Darkly because acid highs last too long are turn ugly of you don’t have something to do. I recommend marathoning Always Sunny if you find yourself in an acid trip at home with nothing to do.

I've read the book and it's one of the best adaptations I've ever seen. There's only like 3 pages that aren't on the screen and they are in the deleted scenes (when his Attorney comes back from LA - in the final cut he's just there again).

Probably my favorite movie ever, and it has given me a lifelong love of Johnny Depp because of his performance in this movie. Be warned, it's one of those films where you either love it wholeheartedly or you absolutely fricking hate it, but if you end up being one of the ones who love it, you'll have a great time that you'll want to keep coming back to.
