At least we know what happened to Walter instead of a pretentious cut to black. I still prefer Sopranos but Breaking Bad had a somewhat more satisfying ending.

it doesn't matter if Tony gets killed in the diner or not. Everyone in his crew, everyone that he knew and most characters in the tv show end up dead or in prison by the end and Tony's fate was completely sealed. If he doesn't get killed in the diner, he'll get killed later, if he doesn't get killed, he'll go to prison as one of his captains just flipped to the government. His days are numbered and it doesn't matter ifi he dies right then and there or later because all of his actions have lead him to the point where you're 100% willing to accept that he gets killed. Theres' no escape for him and it's guaranteed that his life is pretty much over.
Fricking westerners always with this shit, it's a story not a scientific description and investigation of Tony Sopranos life, have you thought even for a single second about the message the writer and director were trying to convey throughout the series? Tonys literal "death" in this scene does not matter, this is the end of his character arch, the show is simply telling you Tony can't be redeem and won't ever change from his violent and sociopathic behaviour.
nah, he dies. Last shot before cut to black is POV and it's the first and only time we get one.

I don't really understand how people are able to enjoy The Sopranos as a straight mafia story. The overarching plot isn't really that interesting, it always just felt like a vehicle for in-depth character development and themes, and those are the things that make it so good.
Also being one of the most quotable shows in TV history probably helps too.
On a side note I'm not really sure why Breaking Bad is always compared to The Sopranos, it's a different type of show entirely that hinges on a fast paced and thrilling plot. If you want to compare a show like The Sopranos, a slow moving drama about charming sociopaths struggling futilely to change who they are while pretending to be decent human beings, then Better Call Saul is a much better comparison.

Also earlier in the show, Chris has that dream about Mikey laughing and saying “3o clock”. Based on where tony was sitting at the table, he would have been shot from his 3 o clock.
Also in the restaurant there’s a picture on the wall of the big house that symbolized death in Tony’s dream when he was in the hospital.
The sopranos ending truly filtered everyone with shit taste
Jesus how hard is it to understand that Tony gets killed and it goes pitch black? They didn't actually show how Tony got shot because no matter what they do, it would be imperfect.
>after struggling with an identity crisis, and several other massive problems, Don Draper finally finds enlightenment and can be happy
How was this a bad ending again?
because it's like everything else that happens in mad men >go through multiple storylines >a huge amount of time is invested >all just to lead up to an obvious, surface-level joke with a base-level irony >that you could see coming from a million miles away
scene had zero tension because anyone with a brain knows that the nihilist pragmatist greedster boss isn't gonna' give a frick. why didn't don or the other character realize it beforehand? who knows... basic basic shit. you can tell that when he says "who cares" we as the audience are supposed to be like "HUH?! WHAT?!"
of course a '50s misogynist marketing guy would become a hippy at the end. show was written so much fricking dumber than the sopranos
Sopranos are good but too many decisions were made simply because Chase hates his fans and wants to frick with them. >reduce action and whacking because he is mad people want "badass gangster scenes" >artificially shove the idea that Tony is le uber evil sociopath and has the dumbest plotline in show with Melfi (an experienced psychiatrist btw) learning for the first time about sociopathic personalities and dropping Tony
I don't understand how anyone can watch this shit without it making their skin crawl. Just hearing their voice makes me almost physically ill. Revolting. The fact that it went on for six seasons and stands as a well-regarded television program shows just how fricking disgusting American culture is.
I watched it live and I'll admit, I was pissed at first (and initially though my cable tv connection had gone out) but afterward, I realized it was a great ending.
Breaking Bad ending is way worse.
At least we know what happened to Walter instead of a pretentious cut to black. I still prefer Sopranos but Breaking Bad had a somewhat more satisfying ending.
Tony gets killed 100%. David Chase let it slip in an interview by accident. Probabyl by the guy in the members only jacket

It’s crazy how much worse he got in the last season too. Leaves you wanting more. I wonder how much worse he would have got

>being to lazy to write an actual conclusion is le based!
Frick off.

The sopranos ending truly filtered everyone with shit taste
This.
>all 4 seasons dealing with drug lords and mexican cartels
>suddenly neo-nazis
yeah racist bikers have nothing to do with meth!
Breaking Bad had a lot of problems but this wasn't one of them you brain broken /misc/tard
>troony immediately defends the shitty ending
found the breaking gay
I'm defending the inclusion of Neo Nazi's in the 5th season. Breaking Bad is an okay show at best. And honestly worse than LOST.
Jesus how hard is it to understand that Tony gets killed and it goes pitch black? They didn't actually show how Tony got shot because no matter what they do, it would be imperfect.
You are such a stupid frick OP. Frick you!
earlier in the season when he's talking to bobby on the boat:
>"You probably don't even hear it when it happens."
anthony jr. intervened, blocked the bullet and killed the members only guy
actual morons ITT. the cut to black is jamal finally punching tony's lights out.
>screen fades to black
>black refers to jamal ginsburg, the hassidic homeboy
>jamal = black
mind blown
Love how Tony was right about him
>worst ending
Nothing tops this
>after struggling with an identity crisis, and several other massive problems, Don Draper finally finds enlightenment and can be happy
How was this a bad ending again?
Bad people don't deserve happy endings.

HE IS DEAD. HE GOT SHOT
HOLY FRICK.
I like the interpretive nature of the ending, therefore allowing myself to imagine Tony's alive and has left mafia life entirely.
>Absolute worst ending imaginable.
I watched it live and I'll admit, I was pissed at first (and initially though my cable tv connection had gone out) but afterward, I realized it was a great ending.
the point is it doesn't matter when he dies, he's gonna spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder
