Stitch was them wanting the male Demographic , looking at Sonic and Pokemon, and realising that they had a movie pitch from the 80s they can modify and use
I'm not even sure why there are experiments made after stitch, wasn't he supposed to be the peak?

If I remember right, 627 and later Leroy were made because Hamsterviel was enslaving Jumba to specifically create an Experiment able to kill Stitch. They're not considered part of the line.
