Actors in their finest suits

Will weaing a suit on university campus make me look like an aspie? I really love the classic, professional look and want to wear suits as frequently as I can.

Damn it that sucks. I really don’t suit any other style of fashion. My black suit’s the only thing i look exceptionally good in. I wish that shit was normalised again like the 60s

Anon, trust me, right? Trust me.
        You really fricking don't.

If you really want to know, post your fit with your face and any identifiers blocked out. The thing is unless your idea of fun is playing in a small group (chamber/jazz ensemble) or you're in business and have years of wearing and accessorizing a suit under your belt you're not going to have the confidence to pull it off and it's going to cause social friction.
        [...]
        >You have to be REAL ugly to look bad in a suit imo
That's not true. It's not about how you look in the suit aesthetically and objectively. People aren't going to say you look bad in your suit. They're going to say you look like a moron because you wore the suit and didn't look like you belonged in it. It's the same as showing up to an event in a state trooper uniform, or an army combat uniform, or a bobsled jumpsuit.

The fact that autists gravitate toward suits and formal hats and have established a reputation isn't helping you any.

there is a style besides suits that fits you, you just arent trying and want to hit the easy button wearing a suit. its typical aspie behavior but it will end badly.

Yes. You won't stick out too badly because that kind of goofy behavior isn't unusual on a college campus but you are going to stick out at absolute best if you have a high quality suit, a great tailored fit, and you're fit and have a good bone structure. More likely you're going to look like a sperg.

I’m not gonna post my face or anything but I am fit and pretty good looking. I am admittedly a manlet though, clocking in at 5’10. So looking good in the suits not the problem, I’m already pretty confident I do, i’m more worried about being shunned by others and unable to make friends/mingle if I wear the suit

College people are fricking morons, being shunned by them isn't the worst thing that can happen. Do what you want, frick everyone else's opinion.

It's uni. If anyone asks, just say you got a viva voce today. Looking good is the first step to self worth. You are what you wear. Americans dress like ugly toddlers and want everyone to dress like them. Let OP dress well. The only caveat I would say is get the suit, pants and shirt tailored or at least adjusted to fit by a tailor. The only reason suits have a bad rep today is people buying ready made ones that don't fit their body. A fitted suit will look good even on the fattest hambeast, albeit you'll look like a Mafia enforcer.

It's not about being ugly, but wearing a suit to school screams autism and you look completely out of place. It's like going to funeral dressed in shorts and flip flops.

It's really easy to look bad in a suit mate. If the pants are too long, the belt doesn't match the shoes, the jacket is poorly tailored. If the shoes are cheap amd shitty that alone can ruin the entire suit. Suits are not forgiving at all. This might seem obvious but to many it is rocket science. Pay attention the next time you see a wedding party and you'll notice how many of the men look like ass.

It's pretty easy to look horrible in a suit. You can buy a 2 thousand dollar suit but it's the 2 hundred you pay the tailor that makes it look good.

I get all my suits/sportcoats/blazers at thrift stores. You'd be amazed at how often you can find one that is cut just right for you body. if yuo go on the regular you can build up a breddy good wardrobe over time. I got a 2pc, 2button black wool suit last week for $8+$14dry cleaning. Fits like a glove.

I went to a wedding once and the father of the groom showed up in a 1970s leisure suit. I had mad respect that he stayed in shape all those years and it still fit him. He wore that shit like a boss.

That's only true if you get some slim/skinny fit shit, or go to the other extreme from the 60s/70s, or even worse a zoot suit. A regular fit that's tailored to your body is timeless.

Don't go full suit. Do mix and match sportcoats/blazers with more casual pants and shoes. Kinda like Keanu wears jeans, hiking boots, a v-neck t-shirt and a navy blazer all the time. I wear jackets all fall/winter. I love all dem pockets man and they conceal a handgun very well.

        >unless you really know what youre doing.
See here's the thing: If you want to get good at a thing you need to do that thing. This is why I like thrifting. It took me some time to figure out what looked good on me and what didn't and how different cuts and fabrics worked. Thrifting lets you try shit you would never buy at retail and the cost to experiment is so low that over time you will figure shit out. Also plenty of vids online about shit like what a tailor can and can't fix as far as fit.

If you wanna git gud you gotta get on the field.

A sports jacket, plain t shirt and jeans is about as formal as you should go at university, and you have to pull it off.
However a lot of people wear chinos and an Oxford shirt and that's tired and gimpish now IMO

I legit dress like pic related in the fall/winter when it's raining. No fricks given while morons are running around getting wet, fricking with hoodies with no peripheral vision or luggin umbrellas around. My rain hat doesn't really look like a fedora though it's more like an outback hat or something. It was made in kiwi land.

If you really want an excuse to wear a suit on campus, get involved with a professional society, or go to lots and lots and lots of interviews. If you do an interview, you basically have an excuse to chill in the suit for the rest of the day.

    >Will weaing a suit on university campus make me look like an aspie?
A full suit would probably be overkill, yeah. But the pic you posted are not full suits. It's a business suit (left) which is just a jacket and slacks over a shirt and tie. He went the extra mile and threw cufflinks on, but that might be because the shirt doesn't have buttons on the cuffs. It's missing a lapel, cumberbun, few other things. Other is a LA suit (right), which is just a jacket thrown over a T shirt and pants other than jeans. The LA suit is perfectly acceptable on a college campus and probably no one will even notice or care about it. A business suit would help you stand out from the crowd of typeface T shirts and and jeans. But you'll sweat a lot, and probably get mistaken for the professor sometimes. It's not a bad strategy, however. "College" (adult day care) is full of barely functional morons wearing their freshest TJ Maxx, and being able to tie a tie will might be something worth advertising.

You should always dress for the occasion, it's aspie behaviour to focus on one cool outfit you saw and want to wear it all the time
If the occasion is at least semi-formal, go for it, but people will absolutely look at you weird if you show up to all your classes in a 3 piece suit. Just wear a shirt and pants like a normal person

Maybe once a week or so you get used to how a suit fits and what to look for when buying another one, it's a skill.
