wash dying in serenity marks the end of good whedon and the beginning of bad whedon. Distancing yourself from your own great work on purpose diminishes both you and it.

you tards really can't understand something as simple and obvious as Whedon using the movie to wrap up the series arc as it was always intended? Wash was always going to die. The Reavers were always going to be an experiment. Mr. Universe was always going to be there eventually. It was just going to be over more episodes instead of two hours. But then you'd have liked it instead of whining about it decades later.

The performances carry it. Whedon was obviously sick of the franchise. Mocking viewers with the mr universe character, shamelessly pandering to girl power simps, and killing wash. Not to mention the script is bleak and brutal to the point of being whiny

Wrong. Art is a relationship between maker and audience. There's no AI art because there's no AI individual driving the creation of individual art pieces, it's all between viewer and curator. If the public likes something because of an incomplete understanding of the artist's intent, having it explained can damage the living relationship that is "Art." Then you just have an object, objects can degrade in many ways.

If you make art for nobody and it's never seen, it's not art. It can be potential art, but if an artist shits in the woods and nobody digs it up, it ceases to exist as a concept. On the other hand, something that wasn't high art at the time (like production furniture or israeliteelry) can be scrutinized on an artistic level because of what it tells us about ancient minds.

Art exists outside of the artist and the audience, you're just too low-IQ to understand it. It's like trying to explain how a car works to an ape.

No, frickstain, you are not. Once an artist puts his work out into the world, he no longer has any bearing on what it means. The audience can interpret it individually, but it exists outside of them as well. You're a fricking moron, and probably underage. Please go suicide.

so art is always created by an artist. What are some other qualities of art? Do you think it has to be created with sovl and hard work, or can it be accidental? Does it have to be objectively beautiful or can there be meaning, like cave paintings?

I didn't say everything is art. I said something that invokes a reaction due to it's spectacle and brilliance.
If your counter point is well that's completely subjective, then yes I agree that art is completely subjective.
Which is not the same as saying everything is art ergo nothing is.

I didn't mean the subjectivity angle. just that a brick to the head is art by your definition, and a sensitive person could live every moment of their lives in artistic reverie. That seems true on some level, but sounds more like 'inspiration' when I sound it out. There should be a word for art manifest. Traditionally that word is .. art

if it turned out Laocoon were a 16th century forgery, would that diminish it? Or even leaving the provenance intact -- if a letter were discovered, and tests confirmed the Mona Lisa canvas was stained with shit from being used to wipe Leonardo's ass, and he dashed it together carelessly for a client he despised, would that diminish the work? Maybe not if you're a purist, but if not the work, it definitely puts HUMANITY in a different light.

Yeah no aliens for a sci fi show set in space is actually an original premise. It's not unrealistic either there is a good chance that there isn't any intelligent life anywhere near us.
The show was kino as frick, and it's sad that it didn't get fully realized like Buffy. Even if the later seasons went to shit like buffy I would still love to have 3-4 kino seasons of firefly.
The movie is also good the ones hating on it are the same gays who dislike Alien 3 because they killed off hicks and newt. Characters die big fricking deal yeah it was a bummer and kinda killed any prospect of a sequel or spinoff series but all together it's a solid movie.
