Why did Bubblegum make Lemongrab autistic?

      Anonymous

Because she's also kind of an autist and as her backup heir he was made to be like her more than the average candy person.

Is an ongoing theme that all her children are fricked up. The Gum family, Goliad, and Lemongrab were the most like her and were all evil or seflish. Only the pacified, infantile candy people were truly happy

I know this is a Cinemaphile board and isn't a place to talk about anime, but I had some idea for a Frieren like scenario where Huntress outlived Finn. The story taking place in 1088 AMW (after mushroom war), 86 years after Gum War/Golb attack and 28 years after Finn died.

i wonder if they could even imagine that this simple and good idea for an episode would spiral into complete autism and would overtake the entire series

Thought it would be the right time of year to post a script for an Adventure Time Christmas episode I worked on about two years ago. It might not be the best, but it's probably the most decent one I've done so far (then again, I haven't really done many since this one). I want to get around to doing more of this fan series it's a part of at some point, but it might need to be reworked a Hell of a lot since Fionna and Cake came out since then, and though I have conceded that just doing a separate timeline would be the best choice, I do want it to still connect to those events, which means strongly re-writing the series' Simon subplot, and the series' ending. One of these days, I'd like to sit down and re-write the parts that need re-writing, but I've been putting that off for quite a while at this point.

There's definitely a lot to choose from. I suppose Princess Monster Wife uses a lot of strange symbolism that gives off a sense of American Gothic-style unease. A lot of episodes from Season 5-6, usually Jesse Moynihan-penned episodes (The Vault, Betty, Breezy and Nemesis) use a lot of really interesting geometry and 70s-styled angular designs that make them stand out, and the episodes in Elements have an interesting subtle theming where the background character gradually moves from right to left. But of course, The Jiggler's definitely an honourable mention, since it has practically nothing to do with the episode and just shows Finn dead after jacking off or something.

Sounds interesting. Got any more details?

It was a great epiaode and the reveal was bonkers. Not the episode's fault the writers fumbled the potential so badly

        >Not the episode's fault the writers fumbled the potential so badly
A failing of it was that they really took their sweet ass time getting around to the actual meat of the lore they were hinting at.

The switch to lore-heavy stuff is slower than that, watching in order it felt like a one-off emotional beat. I'd say I Remember You where he talks to Marceline is where it really kicks off

I feel like you could say that the serious parts were beginning to be hinted at as far back as It Came From the Nightosphere, Rebecca Sugar's first episode for the show. The song's lyrics might sound dumb, but the way they're delivered is taken rather seriously, and can be a sign of things to come. Then there was the high stakes of the Season 2 finale, hints at PB and Marcy's relationship in What Was Missing (though the episode was still kinda light-hearted), Finn getting heartbroken by PB and later chastising her in Burning Low. The seeds were there, but I suppose seeing how I Remember You was so successful and ground-breaking to critics and a lot of fans, it would be easy to call that the "point of no return". Then again, the lore around The Mushroom War was at least a part of the show from the beginning, and the show never wanted to take itself too seriously (there were still fart jokes all the way up until the very last episode), but I guess you could notice a particular, but gradual shift in tone around Seasons 2-5.

PB used to be so cute even if a bit wacky and offputting for the sake of absurd humor. Then they started taking their characterization shit seriously and ruined her.

Pb became more interesting when they actually started acknowledging her authoritarian and sociopathic tendencies, I wish she got a full miniseries like Marceline did.

Adventure Time didn't need to be interesting and I'm tired of morons constantly advocating for female characters being made worse because people can't handle simple sweet ones anymore. PB already had "edge" by being disturbing and morally questionable for the sake of simple humor, but that wasn't enough, it had to be propelled into a deeper worse character. It always has to be some snarky, crass, b***hy bullshit. Even Princess Peach is being ruined by this shit and she comes from a franchise that's the epitome of family friendly basic characterization where everyone is cute and happy. Why can't we have just one fricking girl that isn't ruined. One?! Disney insults their history by having their princesses lament how they exist. AT ruined PB. Peach is gradually getting converted. When will it fricking end. Is there even anyone left to ruin now?

It's Christmas and all I want are kind women to be able to fricking exist in fictional media again. Stop taking it away. Go watch the countless other series that have b***hy chicks to get your rocks off and praise how "interesting" and "better" they are than "basic" ones you fricking homosexuals. I am going to fricking kiln rend al fricking parat

          Anonymous

What makes PB unique and a cut above characters, such as your example Princess Peach, is that she isn't just another "girlboss snarky princess" archetype (which existed since at least the 70s, that was Leia's whole character in the OT so it's nothing new).

She's done shady shit and has actual flaws which the characters do call her out for. When she literally attempts to genocide the Flame Kingdom for the sake of protecting her own people, it's not framed as her being a strong independant woman, Flame Princess just says she's a straight up bad person.

            Anonymous

Lmao that's the only example of that and it's very convenient that out of all people on the cast it was FP the only one to call her out, you know the stupid shipbait character that was put on a bus after the terrible break-up arc and has no actual place in the show due to connectionwith anyoneelse besides Finn, how fricking convenient it wasn't either Finn or Marceline that called her out it had to be FP so PB can avoid any actual meaningful consequences

You are just making up this trend in your mind, she has always had snarky moments since early on, alongside kind ones. I'd argue she's at her nicest way later on in episodes like the pajama war

            Anonymous

Being snarky was lighthearted, like her making fun of Finn for being jealous of Recardio was cute. The tone of how she behaved absolutely changed just like every other character once they started getting up their own ass. Jake was probably the most well off beyond the couple times they made him out to be a shitty dad.

              Anonymous

I am very dissapointed how we never get Jake being a dad in full arc of the series. I want to know what it's with Finn now that Jake is a full on dad in his life. The status quo really poison the series.

              >Jake was probably the most well off beyond the couple times they made him out to be a shitty dad.
I really like that arc because we actively see him become a better dad as the series goes on. He did fine when they were babies but then struggled with having adult kids, and coming to terms with the fact that some were more mature than him while others needed his help. Him risking death to protect them from his alien dad was a great end to that storyline

Dunno. I get the impression that Muto would rather do something different with AT, or something different altogether. We're getting F+C s2 because it did well and that's what he can get greenlit. It could really be about anything, so I'm interested to see what angle they run with.
