It's a millennial show. I stopped a few seasons in, but I've recently wondered about finishing it when I have time to kill.

It gets quite a bit worse around season 5. Last 5 seasons got progressively worse. It kept following more and more characters until finn and jake were barely in the show any more.
It's a zoomer show morons. I'm peak zoomer and it came out when I was like 10. Millennials that watched this were man children

When I was younger, I used to rock with Finn’s backpack throughout middle school
It went to shit season 6 onwards, with only the occasional kino episode like Jake the Brick.
It was really cool at first but then they tried to make it the Evangelion of Cartoon Network shows to prove that cartoons can be mature too. It was boring when they dropped the fun adventures and world building for philosophical meandering and relationships
A handful of cartoons in the 2010s are goofy in the beginning and then transitions into something mature.
Adventure Time was the first to do it iirc and it was always off putting because the world and tone is randumb shit with RPG influences but then in the latter seasons you’d have an entire episode of shit like princess cookie slime talking about her purpose in life… so fricking boring
Yeah I always like the weird episodes. My favorite episode is when Finn has miniature versions of everyone. I remember being invested about Ice King and Marceline’s relationship in the beginning.
I like that one but it was an apparent “writer talking to the viewer” moment about shipping

It went to shit when the creator left and tumblrites took it over.

I went into it because of the post-apocalyptic setting, thinking I was gonna get some animated 'A Boy and His Dog'.
