I don't know, you can't make content like the old days now because of current year bullshit unless you have frick you money, and I doubt this is the case
The log commercial was a good indicator on how the writers saw humor in the show. Its not going to be my thing, my biggest hope it just becomes irrelevant than start some dumb drama within cartoon fans.
R&S is my favorite cartoon of all time and there's no way this will live up to it. The leaks were pretty much the best I could expect. I remember someone who apparently worked on the show (take with huge grain of salt) leaking that the writing sucks but the artists tried hard to make up for it. It seems like they did make an effort to at least look like the old show, and some of the Stimpy drawings look nice. But it feels a bit like a soulless imitation, and the stories/jokes seem likely to be either rehashes, callbacks, or more "Stimpy get ipad" stories.
From the bits we've seen, it doesn't feel inspired in the way the old show did, which is a problem with any reboot. I feel like APC and the Games episodes will get more respect after this. It's likely to be a safe retread that feels off because it's made by different people without the same influences. The Force Awakens of R&S.
That said, I get the sense that some people working on it are genuinely huge R&S fans and they're at least putting in an effort to make it as good as possible. It'll probably be better than the Animaniacs reboot at least.
I can't really be mad about it either way. Every big cartoon in the 20th century got multiple reboots and new versions. Popeye, Looney Tunes, Felix the Cat, Scooby Doo, Johnny Quest, etc. It's just a natural thing. Even John K. worked on a new Jetsons and a new Beanie and Cecil. Sad that he's not involved, but in a way the cartoon further solidifies his legacy as a cartoonist which is cool.
I probably won't watch it, but I'm not going to wish it fails or anything.
I only hope that there's no PC mumbo jumbo and that includes circus midgets
