Yeah looks like I was full of shite. I'd vaguely remembered Disney stopping something. Looks like it was the characters on his stage based on the tutorial. They redesigned it to not show Donald, Goofy or the Princesses on the stained glass.
It's more likely Disney just charges extra to use their signature characters and Nintendo didn't feel like footing the bill for a stage cameo.

Modern Disney doesn't any fricks about KH. KH3's frozen world was blatantly rewritten because the execs wouldn't allow Elsa to be the antagonist for the world. Even before that outside of Japan the IP has never been promoted by Disney only SE. Disney just gets child support from the releases at this point.
It's not even as high as the exec level. Kingdom Hearts 3 was the first time they actually had to collab with the teams who made the movies. Some were very strict like Tangled and Frozen and barely engaged others were cool like the Toy Story and Monsters Inc groups. Any CGI movie since they were actually using movie assets had a lot more back and forth.
And to think the homosexual director of tangled was there to promote his world. Just let them have fun man, NO one ever cried about that in kh1 or 2 we all fricking loved that shit.
You'd have to cut a lot but Kingdom Hearts 1 is probably pretty adaptable. After that, I have no idea. Once Organisation 13 show it up it's gets way too convoluted.

Kingdom hearts refers to a entity that contains all hearts of all worlds and beeings. In the first game it was just a glimpse of what it actually is. We never really saw it (not sure if the moon in the other games actually was THE kingdom hearts). Generally it was probably the heart of the origin world where MoM lived.
The name was inspired by Animal Kingdom

The real question for any adaption is do you do things in the order of the games or chronological order
