This, start with the best. Anime is childish garbage you will hate it if you start and you're above 18
So basically Texhnolyze if you want pure KINO, Eva if you want KINO for teenagers

Texhnolyze will probably filter OP. I don't like anime generally but that was a fantastic series.

I really like this manga. Its called Wolf Guy: Ookami no Monshou. The artist, Yuuki Yugo, draws the best art out of any manga artists I've ever seen.

This manga literally has a chapter titled Rape. I can't recommend it enough.

I feel like one huge strength of manga is very easily read images because of high contrast. This page doesn't have good flow because every image is like a detailed piece of art all it's own. You can spend too much time looking at them. It looks cool, but manga should usually be simpler in terms of art.

        Anonymous

Anon, are you a moron? That's not a page of the actual manga, but a collage. Also the quality of the scans is dogshit and the gamma is too dark so you can't judge the manga's contrast by looking at them.

Was the wolf guy a cuck for taking the girl back after she got gang raped for 14 chapters (and came multiple times)?

The one thing I didn't understand is why she was willingly jerking off those wieners. I get that if you're getting gang raped you can't really resist getting fricked, but she didn't have to jerk off the guys on the side too.

If you're over 18, learn the demographics and how to check them before watching something.
That was you can avoid shounen and you will be dodging 90% of the terrible shit in the medium. Like Chainsaw Man for eg.

Here's some shit to get you started:
    Princess Mononoke
    Grave of the Fireflies
    Nausicaa
    Laputa
    Castle of Cagliostro
Ghost in the Shell (original movie only, avoid the rest like the plague)
    Neon Genesis Evangelion
    Mushishi
    Legend of the Galactic Heroes
    Ping Pong
    Kids on the Slope
    Detroit Metal City
    Nodame Cantabile

Lots of people will tell you to watch cowboy bebop - it's merely ok. It's episodic so some episodes are great but a lot of them are shit filler episodes that are just homages to popular scifi movies.

You can't go wrong with Satoshi Kon, especially Perfect Blue would be a great gateway, but you can watch pretty much anything that catches your eye from his works.

Alternatively, directors such as Mamoru Hosoda and Mamoru Oshii are also a lot of people's firsts. Personally, from Mamoru Hosoda I recommend Summer Wars, it's one of the best movies ever made, and Mamoru Oshii made Ghost in the Shell the original movie.

If you want some TV anime I'll give you quick rundown on some basic gateway stuff.

If you want action: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Code Geass, Devilman Crybaby, Dororo (specifically 2019 remake). All completely newbie friendly, all have great stuff in them. Personally, my least favorite of the bunch is Brotherhood, it suffers a bit from being a remake and being too close to manga.

If you want comedy: Hinamatsuri, Asobi Asobase, Sakamoto tbh Ga. I'll be upfront, anime has a problem with comedy, the jokes tend to be exaggerated and just too loud. But these are genuinely funny shows that actually use exaggeration smartly and to great effect, especially Hinamatsuri.

If you want to see one of them Slice of Life: Flying Witch, Kakushigoto, Demi-chan wa Kataritai, a Place Further than the Universe. Like, really, nothing happens in these shows, but I would say these might explain the appeal very well, to someone who isn't familiar with what it's all about. Except a Place Further than the Universe actually definitely has a story to it.

Some gateway hidden gems: Kaiji, Mirai Shounen Conan, Kyousou Giga. I didn't really put thought into this one, but basically the idea is that these are anime that have die-hard fans and are sort of popular, but not really. Kaiji is the best one to start with, but Mirai Shounen Conan is actually Hayao Miyazaki's first and only directed TV anime and it is an essentially 13 hour Ghibli movie. It's a bit weird to say Miyazaki's work is a hidden gem, but how many MSC fans do you know?

Actually, screw this list, just watch fricking Gundam, honestly, 0079 still hasn't been topped and Evangelion wishes it could be it. The TV series, not gay movie compilation for sissies.

Magi is perfect. It's short and very well made.

To be honest, OPLA is so different from OP that recommending to watch OP from OPLA, I have yet to hear of successful transition between the two. And action sequences, although are shot poorly, people like them and they really take into account that live action isn't anime so it's not representative of how OP anime would feel.

So when someone tells me they've seen OPLA and want something like that, OP isn't something I would necessarily jump to, but something more grounded in reality. Whereas One Piece is proud of being a cartoon.

It's a mixed bag, like for example it skips Don Krieg entirely, throws Arlong into Baratie, expands Koby's storyline with Garp IMMEDIATELY after he joined marines and Garp meets Luffy way before Thriller Bark. Whether these are good changes or bad changes, I am not arguing for that, I am just saying it's a lot more loose than people give it credit for. Except for Syrup Village, that one is just straight up fricked and it pretty much cut all of the scenes that make Usopp likable or convey why Luffy wanted him on his crew with offering nothing in return.

        >Why'd he do it bros?
CSM is definitely worse than Fire Punch, but I think the main issue is that the guy has a very formulaic way of writing, and the schizophrenic pacing and constant side steps that seemed genius at first become very slate when you see them again in another long running series. I think it's the same reason why a lot of the people who discovered Fujimoto with CSM and loved it have lost interest with part II. The trick only works once. His One Shots are usually pretty good though.
