Start with the best so you'll never have to watch anything again because old animation is dead
Ghost in the shell
This, start with the best. Anime is childish garbage you will hate it if you start and you're above 18
So basically Texhnolyze if you want pure KINO, Eva if you want KINO for teenagers
Texhnolyze will probably filter OP. I don't like anime generally but that was a fantastic series.
I really like this manga. Its called Wolf Guy: Ookami no Monshou. The artist, Yuuki Yugo, draws the best art out of any manga artists I've ever seen.
ah, it's the manga with Rape Namek
KINO! KINO! KINO!
you should read origin my homie, it's art is great and the story is one of my favorites of all time.
it's actually not and it sounds like you've been gaslit by shills. you ever read a book and then watched the TV/movie adaption and found it to be heavily watered down shit that changes or outright omits certain details? same thing with this.
whoops this is meant for
This manga literally has a chapter titled Rape. I can't recommend it enough.
I feel like one huge strength of manga is very easily read images because of high contrast. This page doesn't have good flow because every image is like a detailed piece of art all it's own. You can spend too much time looking at them. It looks cool, but manga should usually be simpler in terms of art.
Anon, are you a moron? That's not a page of the actual manga, but a collage. Also the quality of the scans is dogshit and the gamma is too dark so you can't judge the manga's contrast by looking at them.
Literally how would I know that? But okay, cool. Maybe I'll check it out.
Was the wolf guy a cuck for taking the girl back after she got gang raped for 14 chapters (and came multiple times)?
The one thing I didn't understand is why she was willingly jerking off those wieners. I get that if you're getting gang raped you can't really resist getting fricked, but she didn't have to jerk off the guys on the side too.
Ghost in the Shell the original movie.
Cowboy Bebop
See if you like FLCL, then move ahead with Evangelion.
Cowboy Bebop (subbed or dubbed)
Death Note
Also Steins;Gate
BHA
Magi
Berserk (1997 & Golden Age Arc movies)
Ranking of Kings
Goblin Slayer
Eminence in Shadow
CSM is mid
If you're over 18, learn the demographics and how to check them before watching something.
That was you can avoid shounen and you will be dodging 90% of the terrible shit in the medium. Like Chainsaw Man for eg.
Here's some shit to get you started:
Princess Mononoke
Grave of the Fireflies
Nausicaa
Laputa
Castle of Cagliostro
Ghost in the Shell (original movie only, avoid the rest like the plague)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Mushishi
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Ping Pong
Kids on the Slope
Detroit Metal City
Nodame Cantabile
Lots of people will tell you to watch cowboy bebop - it's merely ok. It's episodic so some episodes are great but a lot of them are shit filler episodes that are just homages to popular scifi movies.
*that way
Samurai Jack
You can't go wrong with Satoshi Kon, especially Perfect Blue would be a great gateway, but you can watch pretty much anything that catches your eye from his works.
Alternatively, directors such as Mamoru Hosoda and Mamoru Oshii are also a lot of people's firsts. Personally, from Mamoru Hosoda I recommend Summer Wars, it's one of the best movies ever made, and Mamoru Oshii made Ghost in the Shell the original movie.
If you want some TV anime I'll give you quick rundown on some basic gateway stuff.
If you want action: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Code Geass, Devilman Crybaby, Dororo (specifically 2019 remake). All completely newbie friendly, all have great stuff in them. Personally, my least favorite of the bunch is Brotherhood, it suffers a bit from being a remake and being too close to manga.
If you want comedy: Hinamatsuri, Asobi Asobase, Sakamoto tbh Ga. I'll be upfront, anime has a problem with comedy, the jokes tend to be exaggerated and just too loud. But these are genuinely funny shows that actually use exaggeration smartly and to great effect, especially Hinamatsuri.
If you want to see one of them Slice of Life: Flying Witch, Kakushigoto, Demi-chan wa Kataritai, a Place Further than the Universe. Like, really, nothing happens in these shows, but I would say these might explain the appeal very well, to someone who isn't familiar with what it's all about. Except a Place Further than the Universe actually definitely has a story to it.
Some gateway hidden gems: Kaiji, Mirai Shounen Conan, Kyousou Giga. I didn't really put thought into this one, but basically the idea is that these are anime that have die-hard fans and are sort of popular, but not really. Kaiji is the best one to start with, but Mirai Shounen Conan is actually Hayao Miyazaki's first and only directed TV anime and it is an essentially 13 hour Ghibli movie. It's a bit weird to say Miyazaki's work is a hidden gem, but how many MSC fans do you know?
Actually, screw this list, just watch fricking Gundam, honestly, 0079 still hasn't been topped and Evangelion wishes it could be it. The TV series, not gay movie compilation for sissies.
SPT Layzner
what do you like OP? Mostly of the shit posted here it's too different from One Piece
you wanna more works like one piece or you want to watch anything?
Magi is perfect. It's short and very well made.
To be honest, OPLA is so different from OP that recommending to watch OP from OPLA, I have yet to hear of successful transition between the two. And action sequences, although are shot poorly, people like them and they really take into account that live action isn't anime so it's not representative of how OP anime would feel.
So when someone tells me they've seen OPLA and want something like that, OP isn't something I would necessarily jump to, but something more grounded in reality. Whereas One Piece is proud of being a cartoon.
I didn't watch the live action but everyone says it's very faithful
It's a mixed bag, like for example it skips Don Krieg entirely, throws Arlong into Baratie, expands Koby's storyline with Garp IMMEDIATELY after he joined marines and Garp meets Luffy way before Thriller Bark. Whether these are good changes or bad changes, I am not arguing for that, I am just saying it's a lot more loose than people give it credit for. Except for Syrup Village, that one is just straight up fricked and it pretty much cut all of the scenes that make Usopp likable or convey why Luffy wanted him on his crew with offering nothing in return.
hunter x hunter makes one piece look like moronic gay shit by comparison.
Wrong. Both are good.
>gay shit
but enough about hxh
True, but they are not really comparable. One Piece is shounen shit and HxH is soft seinen.
Definitely not this one, but Fire Punch from that author is pretty good.
I read Fire Punch and love it. CSM felt like a huge dip in quality. Why'd he do it bros?
>Why'd he do it bros?
CSM is definitely worse than Fire Punch, but I think the main issue is that the guy has a very formulaic way of writing, and the schizophrenic pacing and constant side steps that seemed genius at first become very slate when you see them again in another long running series. I think it's the same reason why a lot of the people who discovered Fujimoto with CSM and loved it have lost interest with part II. The trick only works once. His One Shots are usually pretty good though.

Ignore every comment in this thread. Here are some you should watch (all English dubbed of course, the superior language)
>Death note
>attack on Titan
>chainsaw man
>Naruto (use a filler list to skip every filler episode and arc (yes, there are entire filler arcs))
>Bleach (use a filler list here as well)
>Dragonball series, in this order:
: the father of Goku movie (optional)
z (NOT the kai version) GT (optional)
>Gundam wing
>Gundam seed (do not watch seed destiny)
>Death note
>chainsaw man
>t. midwit
>recommending Death Note in current year
>Having the balls to recommend any show just to immediately follow it up with "btw use a guide to skip half the show"
>Saying OG Dragonball is optional while saying the Bardock movie is mandatory viewing
>Recommending Gundam
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Hellsing Ultimate
One Punch Man
It's a cliche answer but watch Death Note it's incredible and super easy to get into.
Here you go, senpai
Where are Hunter x Hunter, Chainsaw Man and Oyasumi Punpun?
>Chainsaw Man
Frick off.
They are all soft seinen. They should be in the list.
>soft seinen
Read homie read
Oyasumi Punpun is on there
Oyasumi Punpun is really bad
but i can see a Cinemaphilegay liking it
Profoundly shit take.
Shut the frick up and go watch Dragon Ball, you fricking moron. Oyasumi Punpun is one of the deepest manga out there. It's as complex as any book I've read, but you likely don't read many books, do you?
>punpungay
>having a mental breakdown over nothing
that's why you find that shit good, you're mentally ill
Boku no pico is an easy to get into, laidback starter anime
I mean that's like saying "I want to start watching tv shows. What's a good one for a beginner?"
It isn't a skill to watch it. It's not even a genre, it's just an animation style. What is contained within can be any story imaginable, so you would need to narrow the search by a lot.
Berserk (the '97 one).
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Katsuhiro Otomo’s Memories
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Berserk (the 1997 series and only the 1997 series)
Cyber City Oedo (British dub)
Bubblegum Crisis
Gunsmith Cats
Golden Boy
how old are you grandpa
Old enough to know most of what’s produced nowadays isn’t worth watching.
So you are 70 year old grandpa who didn't watch shit. Got It.
You’re better off just reading the manga instead nowadays, zoom-zoom.
Hellsing Ultimate
Rip Van Winkle gives me an erection
Perfect beginner packet for normies
The Area 88 OVA series
Everyone! Attention! Attention please! I wanted to say that I really really love Power because she's my wife! Thanks for listening!
Zatch Bell/Gash Bell
It has the same tone/atmosphere as One Piece, but better
>better
i'm gashgay but One Piece is much better than gash, isn't even close
Kanchome and Folgore have more emotional pathos between the two of them than the entire Strawhat crew
Stick with the shit before it became a mental illness and save yourself from weeb homosexualry.
Fist of the Northstar
Ninja Scroll
Berserk
>Fist of the Northstar
>the adventures of a cuckold
overrated as frick, the manga would be much better if it were about Toki and Raoh
>Mob Psycho 100
>One Punch Man
>Fullmetal Alchemist
>Cowboy Bebop
>Ghost in the shell
These are all good pieces of media I could show to even the most surface level normalgay and they'd walk away praising it. If they aren't a prude that gets scared off by nudity then I'd move on to recommend Edgerunners, Soul Eater (that stupid cat girl ruins this show for normies), and Evangelion. If you're feeling risky and know they can stomach Japanese coomer bullshit then move on to Made in Abyss. Frick anyone that recommends 200+ episode bullshit like Naruto or Bleach for a first time viewer.
Black Lagoon and Hajime no Ippo
Oh cool, another beaner/troony thread
soul eater is the only anime you need to watch
Evangelion
Berserk
Attack on Titan (don't pretend like the first few seasons weren't pure kino)
I guess I would suggest, my favorite anime, Green Lagann.
Others I guess I can recommend are the typical Cowboy Bebop, FullMetal Alchemist, or Black Lagoon, but something I haven't seen yet is Space Dandy, and maybe Cyborg 009
