Honestly that's a great critique. The movie has one scene mentioning "guardians," but it's so subtle, the film barely mentions it.
From what I heard, the book goes into more depth with why the Osage were encouraged to marry Whites. There's also mentions of the Osage seeing whiter skin as more preferable and a bigger sign of wealth and successfully integrating into a new world.
The film does not mention any of this, and the native character feels less of a character and more of a "feel bad for me" puritan. Her acting chops were great, but still.
I'm not some woke fag, but it's weird that Goodfellas actually had scenes with better female narration and a well written female character and this shit didn't even try. Marty can write a good female character, he just stopped doing it after Casino.
The "guardian" thing isn't subtle at all.

The rest of the movie is certainly heavily focused on racism, discrimination and corruption. So not sure why this isn’t worth including.
It seemed like it was pretty heavily implied, the natives had guardians and weren't able to just access their money, they had to ask for it. That drunken Indian man couldn't access his own money either and needed de Niro for it, I thought. And they probably had to fake some level of affection with each other to make it work, they were functional couples in that they had children and stuff.
