God I hate Sweet Baby Inc. everything they've touched has gone to shit. Also crazy how this is Wondie's massive wank. then john stewart is basically called a uncle tom for being black and a cop/superhero "one of the good ones" lol do these types know how racist they are and how cringe that is. Like shit damn it's from deadshot so it reads as a good black is bad to the average black and the criminal is the likeable one it's so warped.

Yeah exactly he'd never say this, he believes in the smartest ruling and human growth. He'd view the Amazonians especially wonder woman as aliens or flaws in the code. They are brutes and he'd hate them or see them as soldiers not some great people like these terrible writers think.

The concept was, will smith black deadshot calling upright john stewart marine an uncle tom.

It was written by someone who makes Tai Neshi Coates look like a moderate, and with one tenth his brainpower, so the result was...not good.

Yes? Lex always view himself as above the whole human race, the reason he hates supes so much is because he wants to be him, he wants to belong to a race above humans.
It makes perfect sense for him to glaze the Amazons, canonically they are above humanity in terms of technology and culture.

              Anonymous

He didn't say that and you have to be extremely fragile to think that. It's a pretty blatant reference to that Justice League episode where they go to another universe and som post WWII flash says" you're a credit to your people"

                Anonymous

I know the episode your talking about. That is some misguided positive racism. Well meaning but incorrect. This is Deadshot calling him out for being a black man who became a cop and the first paragraph is giving him shit for larping as a white man.

                Anonymous

Again, no he doesn't unless you just saw the word white in the sentence and just stopped reading. He's not even criticizing GL for being a typical American good guy, he's mad that he became a space cop and then was not in space when he caught Deadshot.

                Anonymous

Playing devil's advocate for a moment, I'm not that anon but he literally says "one of the good ones". Lawton's absolutely calling out Stewart in that context, but like I said a few posts up there's nothing wrong with that because there are literally black people who will think that about others if they act a certain way.

                Anonymous

It's still kind of ridiculous that Deadshot accuses anyone of acting like an oreo, or frankly even cares about that kind of thing in the first place. It'd be like Fu Manchu calling someone a banana.

                Anonymous

That jab is not towards Stewart, it's towards America. The whole thing reads like "You were everything white people liked already but you still decided to be a fricking cop".

                Anonymous

Well perhaps it's my bias then, but since I'm black that's honestly the first thing that comes to mind when I hear about that. Not trying to pull a card here, but that's how it just reads to me.

I don't think he's specifically calling him a race traitor but it's clear he feels like he's doing everything that perhaps Lawton should've been doing with his own life. That's how I feel.

                Anonymous

I'm black too so we just have different interpretations. Like I said, Deadshot never claims that Green Lantern was actively trying to be "one of the good ones" , just that (white) people would describe him that way. It's just Deadshot being bitter that a successful guy chose to do something that directly fricks with his way of living

                Anonymous

Well wait, no. DO we have different interpretations? Because yeah, that's how he, as a black person would probably think white people would see him as because he was out here doing good unlike himself.

                Anonymous

The whole damn interaction feels questionable to me. They raceswap a white character black, then have him basically call the legitimately black character an oreo for being in the military and a space cop.
                Just doesn't sit right.

                Anonymous

Well that's the thing, anon. Like the other anon, I don't feel like he's trying to call Stewart an oreo. He's just calling him out for making all these accomplishments and being a goody two-shoes. You can still do what Stewart did and be "black". "One of the good ones" is what people who aren't black would probably call someone like Stewart: Someone who doesn't make trouble, a credit to his people, etc, etc. And honestly, the more I read it, the more it comes off as projection on Lawton's part that he's not doing what Stewart was doing because he walked the path he did in life. Even at the end of that bio he doesn't have anything to say and admits Stewart would be a role-model, but implies that anyone who lives like he does would think themselves a know-it-all who would sell their people out (I don't know how else you can take the "narc" line).

                Anonymous

A lot of black people who throw shade at other black people trying to stay within the lines or otherwise getting ahead are in essence accusing them of "acting too white" though. Using that exact language, too.

Can't deny that, but I also posit that we also have a "crabs in a bucket" mentality as well. Many of us will put one another down, period, which doesn't necessarily need to be acting too white. You just need to be doing better than the other person is for said shade to surface.

Themiscyra was a punishment for the Amazons, they where send there when they lost a war against the gods of men. Only the female goddesses gave them gifts, yet they made their prison a paradise.

With Palworld blowing up, I hope AAA companies understand that people will buy what people want to play.

      Companies know this.
They prefer to have their slop just so that they can push their agenda instead.
Wait until palworld is sued to hell and becomes an example for all other indie developers.

That's yet another early-access survival crafting game getting popular in an industry that's already had plenty of popular early-access survival crafting games in the past decade. It's still more of the same crap.

Shouldn’t blacks on twitter calling this game racist for racially targeting John Stewart?

I could kind of see Lex saying this, if he gave a backhanded complement or said he could do better himself.
    >Ah yes the Amazonians are the pinnacle of what regular humans can do. Technology, culture, combat all quite brilliant. Of course nothing compared to my own genius.
Lex's arrogance is his whole thing. It's like they just read Lex is smart guy, so smart guy say good thing so people know it's right.

What I find hilarious is back in 2009-2010 Cinemaphile was the only board on 4chins fighting for progressiveness in comics. You cannot lie I have the screenshots on a jump drive.

By no means of defending the shitty writing for this game, there's a weird level of scrutiny towards that GL dex entry going as far as reminding me how uppity people get with black characters regardless of the writing some of time. Deadshot and GL's "rivalry" can be perceived as generic as Bats and Harley's but since they're black the language for some reason has to be stepping on eggshells despite there being no racial connotation involved in the first place. This is unironically how this Sweetbaby stuff and the pacification of media starts to happen when audiences can't muster up the simple sensibilities of "offensiveness" without entirely going off the deep end from it. I've seen more anti-woke/racist people whining over this line than progressives while not giving a shit about black people in the process. Just culture warring over a goyslop product in order to feel righteous of, almost as duplicitous as a israelite doing the "fellow white people" act.

      >Deadshot and GL's "rivalry"
That's why it sticks out actually, this is the very first time Deadshot's ever had a beef with John Stewart, especially for being an uncle tom. It feels manufactured as frick since Deadshot has more history with Batman and Green Arrow than he does with the Green Lantern corps since he's an earth-based criminal. Shit, he has more history with Kyle Rayner than John Stewart since he at least fought Kyle Rayner. It'd be just as nonsensical as if Wonder Woman decided she wanted to decapitate Harley Quinn for being a bad role model for girls everywhere.

probably doesn't help that Deadshot and GL don't really have any sort of history, yet they ended up kind of pushed together for lack of any other options since all the well known GL baddies are just way too high power for this game.

Shoulda used Evil Star or Doctor Polaris as playable characters honestly, make actual interesting C-List villains playable like a Suicide Squad game should. Honestly despite liking King Shark, Deadshot and Captain Boomerang in most works they really should refrain from overusing them in Suicide Squad media, sorta misses the concept a bit if use A-list guys with plot armor.

Honestly they chose the worse time for that as that has fallen massively out of favour, especially in games with Borderlands 3 being shat on for that, Forspoken especially for it’s dialogue and live shooters being looked at with hatred at best. They genuinely shoulda gone with a game concept and story tone that would of better suited being a colourful supervillain shoved into a situation where you can die for good with only other supervillains to count on if they don’t backstab you first, i’d just change the gameplay to suit specific characters more and to have them not all just use guns unless they actually do in the source material, frick you want sci-fi guns just make a Flash Rogues game like Payday mixed with TF2 or Overwatch

The fact that neither Marvel or DC has tried to copy Overwatch verbatim is kind of laughable considering it ticks the boxes on everything they want to do and would be easy to accomplish.

I mean it probably wouldn’t of been highlighted if not for them going out of their way to focus on how or why they changed Deadshot’s race but also having him use the phrase “one of the good ones” passive aggressively in Jon Stewarts bio is sorta scummy with an actual black character since his inception, like even to me that’s a bit odd
