the state of Cinemaphile nowadays is such that i can no longer trust anyone would actually wanna have a thread discussing an artist and their work
it must be some covert outrage bait or industry drama shit

Here's an honest opinion: he's a bad writer who tries way too hard to be the New Grant Morrison but isn't a (Matt) fraction of the writer that Morrison was in his prime and his "cool ideas" just feel forced instead of organically coming from himself.

Gamma God bullshit and trying to give some mystic element to Hulk in general. No real reason for it, it's very dumb and will never be acknowledged after his run but he probably felt that it was the kind of thing Morrison would do if he wrote Hulk so Ewing did it. That's Ewing's problem. He's trying way too hard to be Morrison and do Morrison style works so he just comes off like a skinwalker so I have no idea what a "real" Ewing book would be since he doesn't have his own identity.

It was something that you'd see by the ton in the 90s. Writers trying to emulate Swamp Thing to be seen as cool. It would've been derided in the 90s as another Swamp Thing wannabe. It was only praised because of how shit the current comics are.

Lmao he actually copied an entire issue of Swamp Thing for no fricking reason. It didn't even contribute to the story.

It seems like he's combining elements from Moore and Morrison comics and applying them to Hulk. I see bits of Miracleman, Swamp Thing, and Promethea from Moore's side.

            >No real reason for it
Fits with the weird shit Hulk has gotten into over the years and does an incredible job of incorporating previous interpretations of Banner's mental state.
            >it's very dumb and will never be acknowledged
So far, you've been proven wrong, Cates still discussed it in his shit run, and the current run is pretty much based on it. It's also a welcome reprieve from the MCU-ification of the Hulk that was going on from 2012 to like 2018.

You're just seeing very surface-level similarities to Morrison's work and dismissing the comic outright because of that because you either refuse to or are unable to engage with it in good faith.

            >it's very dumb and will never be acknowledged after his run
The current Hulk run is following on from what he established in his run, hell even Ottley brought back elements of his run when Cates got off the title

It's actually not too bad. His tooth (2000ad) stuff all falls under the catagory of "okay". Uou can read most of it in a day and like it enough it didnt feel like a chore, but not like it enough youd plan a reread any time in the future.

Zombo starts off fun and silly and isnt overly preachy, if you dont get angry at the odd "lefty" joke or reference I would suggest reading his stuff at tooth.

So he was skinny at one point. Why the frick did he let himself become a fat frick? If he just worked out and shaved the shitty beard, he could probably get a decent amount of pussy with being tall and having a deep voice. Instead he seems to have mindbroken himself into being a homosexual.

Agent of Asgard and Ultimates btw. Hulk is good but loses steam around the seventy five percent mark

Best is probably Immortal Hulk because he got a full 50 issues to tell a story instead of getting canceled in a year abd having to stealth reboot like every other one if his comics. Otherwise I'd maybe say Ultimates if only because the premise was the strongest I think, and I think it would have excelled given the same leeway and not getting trapped in event he'll.

But actually it's just Contest of Champions because it's fun.

Ultimates could've used a further two year run. It was their best book after Secret Wars until Immortal Hulk and HiX-Men.

Agree with this, Immortal Hulk and Ultimates are both greatly entertaining. His Defenders mini was good too. I'm also liking Immortal Thor so far and have been meaning to check out his run of Mighty Avengers.

I couldn't really get into his book about dead space gods but I might've been too distracted at the time to just sit down and read it.
